Really love the ZF5 . Much negative commentary about it but for me, it's just amazing! So comfortable. no hotspots , handles a selection of paces and distances with ease. Traction is great!
Totally agree. Almost annoyed watching reviews of it online because they're almost all negative but it's actually one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever run in.
@@meancheeto Could perform that role I guess , although it seems to suite faster paces. Maybe look at the new Vomero 17 or strangely even the Structure 25. The Structure 25 has a new blend of new Cushlon and I have found it very comfortable and not overly structured (so to say). Vomero 17 has a blend of ZoomX and Cushlon ...waiting to try it for sure.
Awesome, thanks. I tried the vomero 15 but it didn't last past 150mi due to outsole bulging on right shoe. Maybe I purchased a dupe. I did enjoy the softness and cushioned foot bed while running in them. I'll have to try out the structures. I had a pair over 10 years ago when I started running and do recall them being really supportive. They were a little bit clunky but served it's purpose
I find when we score a shoe I think we need to assess did it serve the intended purpose. To say outsole is too much for the liking is quite subjective. If the shoe is design for durability the shoe should have sufficient outsole and i agreed strategic placement. Not all shoe should be design to be lightweight.
I have over 50 miles in them, and I love them. It uses ZoomX scraps (not fresh ZoomX) with SR02 (it’s Cushlon, everyone) as it’s structure. I think weight would have gone down if they used fresh ZoomX (No glue). Otherwise, it’s a smooth ride. It’s not a fast shoe, but unless you’re an elite or Sub-elite runner, this may be a better option over a super shoe just because it’s better at slower paces, and much more stable. It’s a smooth ride. The other shoe I would compare it to is the Puma Deviate Nitro 2, and I would pick the Deviate 2 over the Zoom Fly 5 just because I feel it’s a better built shoe, but I keep reaching for the Zoom Fly 5 for those long run days. BTW, I picked mine up from Nike for $84 on sale plus a discount code, so for that price, it’s worth every penny.
i was looking for a long-run shoe recently and was tempted to give the ZF5 a go despite struggling with the ZF3, but opted for the vomero 16 instead - cheaper and fresh zoomx not scraps
Seth, I’m confused as to why you would choose the New Balance shoes over the Nike when NB is heavier and more expensive (all the reasons you didn’t like about Zoomfly 5). First time commenting but I just wonder what your reasoning is. Love your channel! Love your family! ❤❤❤
Zoom fly 5 very mistaken, i think the weight is supposed to be heavy in order to make legs stronger so therefore when you out a light race day shoe on (vaporfly) you can then feel faster and running becomes
😂 what a non sense..... I bet Nike will have to listen to customers and make the Zoom Fly 6 lighter, debunking your theory. A fast shoe should be light, we have daily trainers for the heavier balance
This is a composite midsole. Zoom X on the inside and some carrier foam on the outside. The durometer score is an invalid for a shoe like this just like in the saucony xodus ultra review you did.
It uses ZoomX scraps glued together, then cut to form, and surrounded by SR02 as a carrier foam… which is a fancy term for Cushlon because Nike won’t admit the very old and dated Cushlon is better than React. It’s a similar concept to what Nike did in the Vomero 16, except the Vomero got fresh ZoomX in its core. But because the ZoomX scraps are glued together, it not only added weight to the shoe, but the ZoomX doesn’t have the same feel as the Vomero or the Invincible, but it is better than the ZF3 and 4.
Since the zoomfly flyknit Nike has been downgrading and ruining what was a great shoe, it was a vaporfly 4% for the mortals, but v3, 4 and 5 were/are not.
This shoe is misunderstood. I only use this shoe if i dont want to be injured. Plated cushion shoe. Its for casual running that protects your feet, your ankles, your achilles. 41mm stack height. It just protects your feet. Not for racing
@@SethJamesDeMoor What do you think they need to do to get back to where they were or to compete against the brands mentioned? Weight, performance, outsole coverage? Just trying to think of things you have mentioned in the past. Thanks so much!
If Saucony can nail their top racing shoe then Nike is going to be in big trouble. Just with respect to trainers, Saucony is eclipsing Nike in my opinion 🤷🏻♂️
I've just purchased the Peg 39s on the Nike sale, have never run in Nike before but they only cost 54 euros here in Ireland so I think I've done OK. Are they a better shoe than the Zoom fly 5??
I feel like Nike seems to have become lost in the clouds with respect to their trainers. It’s almost like they don’t listen to their consumer responses and reviews. I enjoy the Next% 2 for racing but outside of that Nike has been a big disappointment for me.
They rest on their reputation and hope people don’t notice they’re actually pumping out the cheapest garbage possible. I mean this shoe is literally filled with garbage, and they spun it like a good thing 🫣
I think the zoom fly series has run its race. Version 2 (zoom fly flyknit) are by far the best release of the series. If they can't make a better shoe over the next 3 versions the series is dead.
@@mathieudube6907 I thank you for your information. I truly miss the version 1, worked great for my 2 mile military test. So hard to find a good replacement
It is a far different shoe from that in reality (in my view) . I love it though. Wouldn't race it it as one could the ZF FK though. But for training it's just sublime.
so far very disappointed in the quality of play. probably has to do with the lack of preparation for most countries because of the strange time of the year theWC is held. For the moment it looks like France against Brazil (and Brazil wins this time). Maybe I missed it but how did Joseph do in Thailand?
The Boston 11 is much better shoe, lighter and more reactive and more durable and stable to! The zoom fly is not a bad shoe but i think is under sauconys, new balance and adidas offers!
This shoe has strayed so far off course its original intent that it isnt usable. Ie it was suppose to be goto shoe for the folks who couldnt jump into the vaporfly. Dark days ahead unless Nike can get this shoe back on course.
Hi Seth, how does the durometer works?🙇🏻♂️ QD: have watched few World Cup matches, I guess final would be Argentina VS Spain and Argentina wins, because Messi only missing a World Cup champion😎

I think that nike is loosing ground in the running industry this year! Their shoes be ome heavier, expensive not very durable, by the way Adidas is winning the battle this year Boston, Chicago, London, New York, World Champs, Odesur champs, Venice and Sidney and Mexico City all that races were won by Adidas athletes waering the Adios Pro 2 in two of them and all the rest in Adios pro 3
QOD: I watched the USA vs Wales game. I don’t know anything about soccer nor do I ever watch it, so seeing a game end in a draw and it being a championship tournament game at that, was very strange to me. I think when playing towards the final championship game, no game should end in a draw and they should have a clear cut winner after each game to move up the bracket.

One positive thing about the Fly 5 is design is a nice looking shoe but not comparable to their conpetitors
True it is a great looking shoe

i'm watching the copa mundial. Qatar vs Costa Rica will be in the final, one for the ages.
Spain really impressed me in the Euros 2020(in 2021) against Italy, but it'll probably be France vs Brazil.
