- Disney is trying to dismiss Gina Carano's lawsuit against them, but she's willing to go to the mat with The Mouse. Carano claims she was wrongfully terminated from Lucasfilm after making a series of posts on social media, which weren't as inflammatory as some of he costars' posts.

Boycotted target back in 2021, waited 2 years for everyone else to see the issue. Target announced they’re dropping the pride stuff in most places, and *removing* the pride kids clothes and objectionable bathing suits and underwear. 9 billion in lost revenue is what it took for Target to course correct.

God Pedro comes off as such a coward. Hard to look at the Mandalorian character without puking now.
It hurt their show greatly. It flopped. AFTER they got rid of her.
They got rid of her and brought baby Yoda back to fill the gap in the next season, and basically retread the same old ground as the audience gave up and walked away.
It was the watershed moment for A LOT of people. Thing is it’s no different than Budlight other than it’s going to take longer to show. People that would go to Disney every couple years now aren’t. It was going to take time for the results to manifest themselves but they are. We let D+ go when it was time for renewal. We aren’t going on the Cruises as other lines start to be more family focused with better onboard amenities. Our daughter is looking forward to Harry Potter land this fall as we’re not going to WDW. And we are wealthy enough to be in Disney’s demo but they don’t want us midwesterners though according to them…

Didn't some merchandise licensees ask if there was a way out of their merchandise contract with Lucasfilm very shortly after her firing because they thought they couldn't make a profit with her character out of the show?
Could also be they were counting on the 'Rangers of the New Republic' show.
Didn't they also hurt themselves by dropping the show? Even if it wasn't much, but some pre-production work was done. Sure, they drop projects all the time, but I don't think that will stick in this argument.

Disney doesn’t get to have freedom of speech because that pertains to a living person and not a corporation.
Social media truly has ruined the *mystique* of many of these actors and other entitled, overpaid nitwits.
And that is a great thing!
Why would she even want to come back and work for them?
She likely doesn't. But she said she spent 20 years building up her body of work to get to the point where she could get such roles and they ruined that overnight. Her agency fired her and now she can't get work. No one should be allowed to destroy someone that way. For a lawsuit she needs to ask for remedial action. If they are forced to rehire her it sends a message she did nothing wrong so hopefully others won't treat her like a pariah. I'm so glad I live in a country where this couldn't happen.

IMO, it wasn't the pronouns... although I'm sure that upset a few people at Dismal... like that... person... with her own not-so-secret agenda.
That person's not-so-secret agenda isn't the only one... but it's fairly closely connected to another one.
Lifting the curtain and exposing the agenda, even that subtly, is what got her fired.
To be a bit more clear... that other agenda, the one Gina exposed... was hinted at by KK's infamous t-shirt... and further revealed in The Last Jedi.
Likewise, it's also revealed in Marvel's phases 4 & 5... and at least some of Disney's animation...
It is *very* pervasive messaging, by design... and it is exactly what JG did for his boss (AH) back in the 30's... using every type of MEDIA at his disposal at the time.
It's a free speech issue. Can you imagine getting fired from your job for your views on a hot button issue like abortion? Doesn't matter whether you are pro-life or pro-choice. It would really easy for them, conservative or liberal, to say you are "pro baby killing" or for "rapist father's rights" and then fire you because you are morally unfit. This is wrong no matter where you fall on the political spectrum.
I'm okay with a company limiting the public speech of a "spokesperson", so long as it is part of the original terms and the spokesperson agrees to it at hiring-time.
At the same time, that rule should be applied equally.
The *reason* that I'm okay with it... That marketing exec at Bud Light, for one example.
At the same time, the limit should only be allowed for people at a certain level of visibility... like the stars of a show, but *not* the guy/gal working the cameras, for example,

Disney forced her to have a meeting with 45 LGBTQ/DEI members and that is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I forgot if she actually had to do it though.

Disney really did Gina wrongly since this started. All she did was give her opinion on a sensitive subject then more events happened that eventually led to her being fired altogether. She made it clear last year about the practices and the responses she’s gotten from Disney. She has every right to fight back against this.

I REALLY hope she doesn't settle or stop pursuing this lawsuit, this could uncover many truths about Disney that the world NEEDS to know.
For everyone saying hypocrisy shouldn't be called out are part of the problem and basically believe that it is okay to fire people for conflicting political ideas. Guess what there are laws about discrimination. Political discrimination is listed amount them. So, if you think Disney did nothing wrong you support companies being able to break the law and face zero consequences. No one is above the law regardless of who you are or what position you hold.

Maybe, but I don't think it's about money at this point. I think if she does settle, she'll likely insist on non-monetary concessions like a public apopolgy and admission of their biased hiring/firing practices. Disney is incapable of admitting to wrongdoing, so I don't think they'll offer a settlement she'll accept.
i hope Gina and Elon are smarter than that and take this all the way to court and make a big deal out of it. I hope they push Disney in public court.
