When you're first starting out with snowboarding, every little piece of the puzzle is challenging! In this tutorial we're going to demystify standing up after doing up your bindings. Later on, we will show you how to get your bindings sorted while standing but for now sitting down to do up your bindings is a nice little break.

I've been rolling around in the snow to get on my toe edge this whole time, cause I could never figure out how to stand up from a seated position without sliding down the mountain!! Thanks for the video
Bruh litterally for 5 hours today I was doing the same shit
I can relate 🤣
Heel edge getting up is completely impossible! Extremely frustrating!
I didn't even KNOW we could flip over. I was stuck crab walking/sliding down the bunny slope.
Agreed. Toe edge is much easier.
I had trouble to stand up since i started and i was always ending up using my toe edge.. once i did lessons for 4 days consecutively, so day after day i was trying to stand up by myself. I noticed that after the 2nd day it became much easier and by the end of the 4th day, my muscle memory was helping me to stand up by a single move!
Remember: BUTT CLOSE TO THE BOARD!!! The closest possible!
I went snowboarding today for the first time and I rolled around the snow the whole day like the guy did at 1:54 ....it's like I can feel my muscle ace already
This is a great video, my friend was having difficulty getting up, so I'm going to have her watch this
Very nice video! I actually don't need it but I think it's a very good idea to help beginners. We need more snowboarders on slopes!
Wonderfull. Thanks. This helps me a lot as a beginner.
You're a great explainer.
I still can’t stand up heel side. It is so frustrating.
i started snowboarding today indoors, its really cool and am considering taking lessons.
Tried snowboarding for the first time a few years back and I mastered toe edge before heel edge. Why? Because I just realized I only get up from my knee side😂
Been snowboarding for years since I was a teen. I recently tore a muscle in my pectoral (grade 2 tear) at Killington trying to push up and get up off my ass after tightening my bindings. The tear was so bad, I felt it snap. It was excruciating. Had a 2 day pass. So painful that I had to skip the 2nd day and go home early. Took over a week to heal. Could barely sleep at night the entire week. I'm making the change to Burton step on bindings. Still have residual pain from that shit. Fuck sitting down!
I couldn’t get my heel edge yesterday (first time) just kept doing my toe edge but had trouble turning back to straight from being backwards. I am hopeful next time I will be able to stand up heel edge
Thanks for the funny instructional video! I wish I saw this before my first time boarding at Cypress. Hopefully I'll be good enough to board at Whistler! Cheers from Burnaby
You got that for sure!
@@SnowboardAddiction just got back from Cypress! I still can't get up on my heels 🤣. I fall back down. Idk if this is good for newbs like me, but getting on my toes is much easier than on my heels.
Great tips, short and TO THE POINT! TY!
Glad it was helpful!
Nice!! Thank you man!
Is getting up heel edge what feels like impossible to anyone else? I’m happy to work on gaining strength anyway that would help but wondering if it’s not a strength thing and more of a coordination thing where it just works for some and not for others. I just can’t help but feel helpless and frustrated when trying to get up this way since I’ve never successfully done it on my own. Any additional tips/info on this would be greatly appreciated!
Getting up shouldn't take much strength, It all comes down to form. You can send a video to ADDICTION+ And we can help you out, But it's hard to give advice without seeing the issue. That said we will make a video going deeper into this topic!
Still hard to stand up from heel not flexible enough
I can't even stand up like that when I'm on my bed LOL
Oooh, I want to try the bent knee to flip over next time. I thought you just rotate over at the waist which has never worked for me.
Omg I could not get up. I had to turn around but once I turned around I had to turn around and I kept following so hard from going to fast and just eating shit😂😂 .
You'll improve quickly with practice
Ths for a imporvement
thanks!
To do up the bindings on ur toe side just do up ur bindings facing up the hill and the summer salt backwards, pushing urself up with momentum
@@SnowboardAddiction lmao thx
i already know the second method, time to wait to try the other one
hopefully it will work!
For now i have to you my toe edge till i get in shape😂
What about strapping while standing up
What if you lose your balance before you are fully strapped? What if you have pieces of ice between your boots and the bindings? How do you clean well before you strap? Not so good for me... dangerous actually, for you and others (since something can happen until the board is fully strapped on you)
@@Delijohn dunno. I hate sitting and then getting up, so for me standing and strapping in worked nicely, so maybe he could make a guide about that, it's not thag hard honestly
@@NICKTA78 you hate it until it becomes that easy, that you won't think about it again.. it'd take less that half a second to stand up :) believe me i fell many times when i trying to strap while standing up and i got many angry looks from advanced people around me..
My tummy gets in the way of standing up forward. Hahaha struggle is real.
Any tips on how to stand up in powder when you can't push with your hands?
rotate to 90degrees and roll onto the nose or tail of your board and use that to push up! :)
What do you wax your board with?
Been snowboarding for like seven years....... only ever stands up from his toe edge
3
Think I need to lose weight :)
It helps!
Same here. Regrets coming when trying to stand up.. Am I that heavy 😢
I still suck
And remember fellow Canadian borders hang lose 🤙 eh
If you can’t stand up you might not be athletic enough to ride a snowboard..
There could be many reasons why someone struggles to stand up on a snowboard, The main reason is technique! We go through the proper technique in this video, you could be the fittest rider around but if don't have the proper technique getting up will be difficult :)
@@SnowboardAddictionyeah but if you do the technique outlined in this video and you still can’t stand up.. maybe it’s time to do some working out
