I think Prince always respected Michael, despite MJ outselling him and getting more awards.

A few days ago someone asked the detail why he ended a video with shade towards MJ and he responded that his channel is not a fan channel. He pretends to be "objective" and "journalistic" but it's mostly click bait. He also stole content from other fans without giving them credit.

Being the music industry of course they would be competitors. Although upon hearing that Michael died, Prince was devastated and didn’t leave his home for a couple days. Both had a respect for one another. The media of course will create tension and make things bigger than they are towards anyone.
in my personal opinion- when Michael asked James Brown to bring up Prince he didn’t have the intentions of Prince being humiliated that way. i think he might’ve tried to out dance Prince later on in the show to regain that dominance and show he is the king but…Prince humiliated himself lol
The reason why Prince won over Michael at the 1985 AMA’s is because Prince had a NEW album… Thriller was already 3 years old, Thriller came out in 1982.
So Mike still had bragging rights because Thriller still a #1 album throughout 1984 (2 years after it dropped)

Mj fans always bring up record sales but that's such a cringe debate. It's like in high school when people say "well he's more popular, so he's cooler" It's just silly. IF we are to go by your metrics, than Justin Bieber is better than MJ? because Bieber beat MJ's off the wall sales, bad sales, dangerous, history and invincible. So is Bieber better ? Prince beat Mozart he played over 21 instruments by the time he was 14. He could dance, rap, sing, compose, produce and did 99% of the work BY HIMSELF. MJ needed Quincy to make Thriller, not that MJ didn't contribute but if you know anything about MJ's career before Thriller he was struggling & Quincy Jones, was the key to get him number one. Where as Prince got Prince to number one. You also said Thriller was out for 3 years so it doesn't count but it shows u know nothing about the music business because during that time Thriller was still beating most albums. So the fact that Prince won is HUGE accomplishment. Popularity has NOTHING to do with feeling& soul. Prince touched the MUSICIANS MJ touched the mainstream radio. They respected one another tho. Even played ping pong and hung out, just do ur research on youtube

This video wasn't very accurate, MJ and Prince had many friendly interactions throughout the years, they attended each other's concerts in the 80s,90s and hanged out in the studio several times
In reality Prince and jackson were friends and hung out together at recording studios and played basketball. This video is just reinforcing the tabloid- driven facade. They loved and respected each other. When mj died Prince was rehearsing for a show but sent the band home and locked himself in his house for days. He was devastated.

Both were competitive and had egos. They respected each other but definitely the media wanted them to be at war with each other
I hate when people compare two greats such and Michael and Prince but to compare them as musicians; there is no comparison. Prince was well known and respected as a great musical talent than almost anyone in the business. Michael was a great showman and a talent, but if you know music, there truly was no comparison between the two.
Not-so Fun fact: After Michaels death, Prince delayed his rehearsals for a tour and stayed in his room for weeks, according to people he was working with.

Don’t trust the Detail channel their Knowledge is laughable 😂 for example they said in another vid that “Invincible” by MJ, was a diss track to Prince because of the lyrics MJ put about diamonds & pearls. But invincible came out 2001, Diamonds & pearls came out 1992. So wouldn’t that mean MJ obsessed over Prince for over 10 years ?!😂 . That would also be a really late diss track 😂 The detail never knows what they are talking about. Especially because they’re so biased. No Prince was jealous of Mike Because Mike was already the dominant biggest star It makes sense But at the same time they was cool behind closed doors
Both were known to be very competitive. I believe they respected each other as an artist and a person and sometimes everyone has a petty side as well. Actually, Prince even defended Michael when he was being accused of the s3xu4l 4bus3 situation.. there's a clip of it. Both are incomparable at all. Prince and MJ were very unique and different on their own and contributed a lot specially in the music industry. There's an advantage when you're a fan of both great artists.. you got to understand each sides.
And lastly, the media and tabloids (..and Quincy Jones) are bunch of dirty liars. Most of the details videos is about Michael, but sometimes I think they get these informations from the media and tabloids that's been spread around. They need to do a better research in order to get the accurate informations.

The fake rivalry was mutually agreed between their own camps. There’s numerous times when Prince and MJ met. For example Prince and Lenny Kravitz together visited MJ in 1994 while he was recording HIStory album. I’m an 80s kid and lived through it! 😀 RIP to Prince and MJ.
