I don't think one can conclude that at all. Did you listen to the whole video? She sounds great. It's a much less formal performance than what she would have done with MJ and the sound system/audio support is not as good. MJ was a perfectionist and practiced everything 100 times before performing it -- and in the day she was playing with a band & chorus. All that background made for a different sound
Starting at 4:16, what did she do to create that strange "wah-wah" synth effect? And what is she doing during Thriller? It sounds like a talk box, but it doesn't look like she's using one.
Jennifer Batten is far better than Orianthi overall. More creative, Orianthi just technical, doesnt have depth. Hopefully with more experience Orianthi will have more depth later in her career.
Bingo! Orianthi is a skilled technician but Batten is a true musician with amazing expression. I know a few guys that can shred up a fingerboard, playing along with someone, but cant string three notes together without instructions.

Basically she said "no" to one of the biggest touring acts in the world. I also recall that she said her dream gig was "to be rhythm guitar player for Jeff Beck" ....well 10 years after the fact...guess what!!
The thing on top of the neck is for finger tapping to dampen open strings..... she is a master at finger tapping. I give her much respect. she has really worked hard to get where she is she puts most guys under the table technically. Kudos Jennifer! (saw her play with Jeff Beck ) I've been Playing for over 40 years I know how much time goes into developing this caliper of playing.

Jennifer is one of a kind female rock guitarist. A very talented guitarist with a similar style/attitude to 'there's no out of bounds' way to express herself on guitar somewhat similar to her close friend Jeff Beck.
I saw her with Jeff Beck in 1999. There’s a DVD available of their performance on that tour in Japan. She was remarkable, finger tapping melodies and playing all the synth voicing with her guitar too.
Damn, its so sad to hear her try to emulate Michaels vocals, i get goosebumps. Its like i hear his voice, in human nature, off thr wall, smmoth criminal...hes sorely missed in today s wasteland..
i bet eddie takes alot of bathroom breaks when she walks on him with his own solo...lol.........of the dozen times ive heard eddie do it...she does it better...and flawless !!!!
