I'm playing a Football Manager save in belgium at the moment, so this was a brilliant video to get me up to speed on the league and it's teams. Very well done!
@@themondayleague I went with Charleroi because of their colours and the fact that they haven't won any major honours. I completely had no idea that Charleroi was such an unappealing place to live! But nahh that just gives me more motivation to succeed in this save
Hi, I’m from Charleroi in Belgium. the city is not the most beautiful but has a certain charm. it is the largest city in Wallonia and formerly it was a very rich city thanks to the extraction of coal in the mines, hence the nickname of the city "black country" as well as metallurgy and glassmaking. since the industrial revolution and the end of the mines Charleroi has become a fairly poor city but which today is being renovated little by little. it has the reputation of the ugliest city in the world due to the aging industrial landscape but I assure you that it is good to live there and that Sporting Charleroi is one of the best financially managed clubs in Belgium with good supporter too ! Hope you can get a title with my club ! Good video !
These league guide videos are my favorites, thanks! I saw the comments and totally support the Turkish or Austrian leagues for the next guide video. But another I'd recommend is the Swiss Super League. So many interesting stories this year, including the fall of the legendary FC Basel, and the close battle at the top between several clubs only a few points away from one another. Thanks again!
That's great to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying the league guide videos! I love making them, although they take a lot of time to make. I'll keep your recommendations in mind! I hope you'll enjoy my other content until the next one is out :)
I think I know who I have to support, at least based off my username Jokes aside that league format looks like it can give a much more interesting league than most others, and it probably gives more different champions and underdog stories as just finishing top of the league in the beginning, even by 10 points or something pretty dominant, won’t give you that much of an advantage in the championship playoffs due to the points being halved to only 5 ahead, which in 10 games can definitely be overcome (as is being shown with USG finishing 7 points top but after losing their first 2 championship playoff games are only top on goal difference). The whole 3 tier system also makes the league more engaging and gives fans a lot more to be excited about as even if you finish from 7th-12th you can still get European football. It also shares the upper-lower playoff system that German football has that I particularly like. Overall I think that the league has a great concept that lets it stand out among the rest of Europe, and I will definitely pay more attention to it in the future. Out of the clubs I like the look of St Truiden as they seem to have a lot of young talents, and I like that they help develop Japanese talents. Also you seemed to speak good things about them. 19 YO Mathias Delorge looks like a bright young talent in their midfield that could definitely become a top player.
STVV fan here. We are often described as the "giantkillers". The reason for this is because we are admittedly a very mediocre team that often flirts with relegation, this gives big clubs a false sense of security when they come over to Staaien. There, their arrogance gets the best of them and often get beated by a small team that can sometimes bite hard. Often enough where we play a disastrous season, losing against teams like OHL and Kortrijk and a week after that we beat clubs like Anderlecht or Club Brugge out of the blue.
Great video. I lived in Antwerp for a year back in the early 1990's when Germinal still played in Ekeren and Beerschot were in Hoboken. I took an interest in Royal, and as such they have always been the Belgian team I have followed, even after that GBA fiasco. I worked out near Boom who had a really good second division team, the rumour in Belgium at the time was that they kept avoiding promotion because they made more money in the second division. It was great to see a round up of present day teams with a reminder of some of the teams I remember, nice that you included Beerschot too 😁
Another great video man! Ur editing skills have improved heaps. I like KAA Gent 👍 Hope to see more from this super underrated channel all the best Btw what are ur favourite teams in football

Anderlecht and Club Brugge also have great ones. But Genk has brought through so many big players! Definitely a good place to develop as a young player
Yeah, I was also a bit unhappy with the way Cercle was presented. We may not have the most supporters in Belgium, but definitely they we are very passionate about our wonderful club and there are a lot of Cercle-supporters in Brugge. Also our system of develloping young players (not only from Monaco) whilst creating the youngest and one of the most intense teams in the league is beginning to blossom as we compete for a Play-Off-spot actually and our players are surely on the scouting lists of clubs all over Europe. Leve Cercle 💚🖤
Underrated very intense competitive league
Definitely!

it's been Cercle for me for the last 30 years or so. But then again Sparta Rotterdam are my Dutch team of choice.
In 1999 when Eupen was in the 3rd division, I remember getting pancakes after the reserves game before driving back home. They were very nice.

Westerlo is in the region of Mechelen and Lier(se) not Genk.

use RSC Anderlecht , they have a massive potential to bring them back to european succes :)
Racing Genk
Westerlo was left out 😭
Westerlo is in there 12:12 ;)
Youth Academy from Genk is the best! Genk has 32 players in the Belgium Youth teams. Anderlecht comes second with 15
