- A very special trip made by Shelia Florance and Val Lehman, Amanda Muggleton and Carol Burns to the UK in 1990. The stars of Cell Block H, Lizzie Birdsworth, Bea Smith, Chrissie Latham and Frankie Doyle, this show will have you in tears at how wonderful they were.
I love the way Sheila is SO overcome at her welcome at the airport.

Sheila was pretty ill here, so this was fantastic of her to do this for the fans. Anna Soubry does a pretty good job managing the anticipation, cultural differences and treading the line between the fans adoration and curiosity, and actors not always ready to endlessly answer minute questions about their roles in Prisoner.
How do you know she was ill here she was always thin anyway

I was 14 when prisoner aired in England late on Sunday nights. I absolutely loved it.... still do.
i thought it was a drama... and I thought the Archers was supposed to be serious too! haha
I had the great privilege of spending some time in Sydney, Australia with the great Amanda Muggleton and met Fiona Spence ("Vera"), Genevieve Lemon ("Marlene "Rabbit" Warren") and several other cast members over the course of 8 days. Terrifically talented women!
Lovely Sheila Florance "Lizzie". She died just one year after this but she looks great here and it's sad she died :( I was only 1 year old when she died.

First day I got hooked right away my family watch regular...I missed prisoner in 80s because pure Aussies TV
I really liked bea in prisoner, she was firm when she needed to be, but compassionate to people that needed it. I really liked Myra Desmond as we'll she was the same as bea. She would stand up for her friends

I always thought that the acting got better around episode s after Karen and Lynn left. Nothing against them- but when the show focused be more on Bea, Lizzie, Doreen- it seemed better. Around this time the show started to introduce more villians..

Wierd to think Val Lehman was only 35 when Prisoner first started filming.
She was born in 1943 and the series was filmed in 1978/79 and 78-43=35. Not much older than I am now!
Wow, only 35 hey, she aged a fair bit though in the 3 years she was in the show. I think it took it out of her playing queen Bea. :)
I am confused, she Val was on Good Morning Britain when Prisoner was doing the stage version and she was 'dissing' it something chronic, then this is on and she is doing her own stage version of the show that she was 'trying to get away from'. I know actors/actresses become typecast it is the nature of the business their in, but to so vehemently state that she would never go back to prisoner and to say that she was moving back and then to go back to it herself 'for the fans', seems to me to be a bit hypocritical. I know what I have put will upset people, but I am not having a go at her as an actress as she was good in Prisoner, it is just that people should be careful what they say as life invariably has a way of 'biting you on the bum'!

Yes, she was gravely ill.
For sure she was. Collapsed on stage on this tour, and had to have a 4kg cancerous growth removed - one of six cancer ops from 1989 until her death.
I agree, she was ill even on prisoner, you can hear her weezing
Really nice ( but weird ) to see Lizzie and Chrissy talking with their posh accents and not at all like their characters voices in prisoner, Sheila looks really good when not dressed n acting like Lizzie!

Carlene Boulden Sheila Florence was one amazing lady. Her true voice was really nice and so different to that of Lizzie's. It was very moving seeing them altogether away from the PCBH show in their real guises, but enjoyable to watch all the same. Thanks again, Carlene :)
