Here's the complete carburetor re-build on this mower: ua-cam.com/video/hggzxLF9ZO8/v-deo.html
This is the best lawnmower tune-up video I have seen on UA-cam. Your videos are so professional and detailed. I had a lawnmower that would start and then die. By watching your video, following the instructions including ordering the right parts, I was able to fix my lawnmower. It starts right up now and keeps on going!
You comments are music to my ears. Thank you for watching. Cheers!
Great job Stella that mower looked to be in good shape. Especially now that you have it all serviced up.
Thanks Mr Rooster! That mower was a veritable cornucopia of video content. This isn't even the half of it. LOL 😃
Thanks a million. Followed you step by step as I was redoing mine .Worked perfect. started on first pull. Thanks again.
That's music to my ears. i appreciate you watching. Cheers!
This was exactly what I needed! Thank you so much. It was helpful to see/hear the size of tools you used and little extra details my non-trained self can look for (like free-moving valves and such). Very professional, very well done. 👍🏼 I’m off to watch your carburetor rebuild.
You are so welcome!
Great video as always Stella.
Please keep them coming
Glad you liked it Mr George. Cheers!
Good job on this tune up Stella. I never knew a Stanley was a 0.30 thanks for the tip!

Great job Stella nifty oil collection catcher, easy to pour out...😀
Love the recoil much easier to see levels.

Tis that time of year
For Stella, aka 'Red'
To shed a gentle tear
On a mower near dead.
The carb gets it's due,
As does the filter.
The oil needs renew,
Mower tilts off kilter.
All work now is done.
Blade, sharp as knife.
Time for some fun.
One pull, comes to life!
As Christmas is near
The shop will rest
To Joy we will steer
To Stella... All the Best.
Thanks Mr Ray! Your prose puts a smile on my face. Cheers! 😘
Merry Christmas, Red! 😉
Another great video.
Thanks! You too Mr Steve! Cheers!🎄

Great video
Thanks for the visit!
I need you in my life right now! Lol! But thanks for the tutorial I’ll be trying this out tomorrow!😊
Thanks Ms Roxana! You got this!
That’s nice looking and sounding mower you have there Ms Stella. Been well cared for apart from giving it to much oil but this time of year maybe we all drink to much 😁
Yep, Mr Al too much of a lot of things this time of year. 🤣
I had a mower like that it's twin. Wobbly wheeles missing belt cover. Good engine. Drilled crankshaft and tap to 7/16 nf put it on a toro personal pace. Good to repower the Toro. I think I should pull carburetor and shroud air wash top of engine and clean carburetor. With engine off buffed the deck to high shine looks good to sell.
Sounds good!
📢 STEEELLAA!! Great maintenance video!
Right on! Mr BLAAAAAAAAAKE!!
Awesome video, Lawnmower Lady! Thanks for the clear steps and instruction. Also, I LOVE how you have duct tape on your shoe. LOL Thanks again!

Great video Stella. Can you do a video on how to find and order the correct carbs for small engines? Actually, can you tell us how to find the numbers for parts for most mowers and stuff. It's not hard to fix the stuff if you can get the right parts.
Thanks Mr Tim! That's a great idea. It's sometimes difficult to sift through to get the correct parts diagrams. Usually the model/serial number of the mower has no relation to the carburetor or other engine parts. Honda and Briggs are good about stamping the engine model numbers on their engines. Some models of Kohler and Tecumseh have labels that often fall off, then you're left guessing. Mower manufacturers put all makes of engines on these machines. If the manufacturer does not have the info on their website (Toro is real good about this) I then look at multiple online large parts houses to get the parts diagrams, and often just order the part from whomever shows stock online. It's going to be a bit more expensive this way, but avoids the sometimes inferior parts found through amazon and ebay re-sellers.
nice ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I’m so happy to make my tune up with your advise .
Finally a woman repair .
I’m a woman too and I’d love repair my stuff.
Thanks again Red
Rock on! You got this. Cheers!
Another mower to #mowhappy with right there good job stella.
Thanks Mr John for watching. Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady your welcome cheers!!!
Nice. I can never read the oil that fast after filling. I have to let it settle.
I agree it's hard to see sometimes. Thanks for watching!
I also check head bolts for tightness-almost without fail the 3 head bolts on the muffler side will be looser than the rest
Thanks! I do so on the older Classic engines with the pulsa-prime carbs. But you're right, these Quantum engines are not that many years younger. Thanks for watching!
What size, diameter and thread count are the bolts taken out during disassembly? Particularly things like access to and including removal of the carb, and also especially, removing bolts and parts for the auto choke access (plastic cover, metal shroud, fuel assembly). Your videos are EXCELLENT but I'm afraid I am missing some bolts and likely have a few in wrong spots.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
those r great cheap beater mowers to cut tall grass with thats i use them for when i get them cheap or free
Its crazy people throw these out all the time. They are great machines. Thanks for watching!
Helpful video, thank you! Could you show a video on adjusting the drive belt for the handle that controls the speed of the 6.75hp mower (belt under the mower deck)? Thx
If it's the one I'm thinking of, twist the adjuster nut anti-clockwise ( the effect of extending the outer cable jacket longer). I do leave a bit of free play in the lever: 1/4-1/2 inch (13mm). That ensures the belt won't burn up while partially engaged with the drive pulley. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady Thanks! I'll work on it tomorrow. Really appreciate the help & look forward to future videos. Cheers!
Thank you for the info about lubricating the cables, as I need to do this on my mower. So now, a question….normally I do my last cut in the middle of November, and then winterize my mower and small power tools shortly after that. But this year, the winter has come in MUCH earlier. I have no shed, and normally winterize outside, which is somewhat impossible for me to do this year. I suspect I can still change oil and clean up first thing in the spring. However, I’m wondering about the gas that is in the machines….will it cause a problem?
I know they just started 10% ethanol in UK, not sure about Ireland. But either way, that fuel will be bad by the spring time. I urge folks to run them completely dry, loosen the bowl nut to drain the bowl, try not to break the seal on the bowl gasket. Try to keep the top of the cable covered.
Good job, do you include lubing the wheel axles and sharpening balancing the blade?
Thanks for watching. I do usually lube the wheels when I lube cables, but only sharpen blades as needed. Cheers!
Love the Quantum. Easy carb clean also. Did you post the carb clean video?
Duh. All I gotta do is pay attention
@@haneyoakie14 😂
Great video stella ... did u have to sharpen the blade ? Just curious if u include that in your tune-up .
Thanks Doc. I do charge extra for sharpening, and I'm thinking I did on this one, along with several other repairs. :)
I always have a difficult time trying to determine which models you need to actually screw the oil cap down to check the oil or to just push it down and pull it right back up without locking it down without looking at the manual every time. Is there some kind of trick that I can do to help me figure out which caps need to be screwed down to check the oil and which ones don’t?? Or do I need to check the manual every time?? Thank you for all of your videos I love watching them
About the only sure thing for me is Hondas, everything else I'm like you, looking it up. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for always replying to my questions/comments
that mower looks to be in great shape. hey which tachometer do you use?
Ha! It provided a great deal of content for multiple videos, some not even seen yet, LOL. The tach I use is kind of on the pricey side for lawnmower work: amzn.to/3pCGNGC (I bought it for motorcycle work) Thanks for watching!
@@TheLawnmowerLady I like the $9 digital one on eBay. I have bought 3 or 4 of them. 2 are permanently mounted on a generator and snowblower to track hours. The other one is free floating in the shop to use on equipment that I am flipping.
Those are definitely more lawn mower worthy Mr Haney, for sure!
Love the videos. I am working on the try I’ll 21 “ electric start self propelled that owner gave away free cuz self propelled not working. I definitely see a kink in drive cable so have ordered that. And now inspecting belt and don’t see a problem there. My question is ….does the pulley attached to motor not move when mower is off. It will not move and just want to make sure it’s the engine that moves it and it’s not frozen. The pulley at the back is freely moving. Thanks for your input. To be honest allI know about the engine was that it has compression when I pulled the rope. The battery is dead so replacing that and already did the new carb and filter and primer bulb and filter housing. I’ve drained old gas and oil and now on to the self propel issue. Appreciate any guidance. Thanks
Thanks for watching. The belt usually runs in a groove on the blade adapter that is fixed to the crankshaft. It spins only when the engine is running. Hope this helps.
@@TheLawnmowerLady thank you very much that does help!
So I have an exactly lawn mower just like this (Have a fire from spark plug althought it's week fire) fire jumping around, also clean the caburator but all I got after it is no start check spark plug alway wet but engine no startable ? Is it coil issues (measure ground to prim coil around 2 ohm & ground to secondary is around 6k ohm) Thanks
Generally speaking, your coil levels sound OK? usually the primary is a few hundred ohms and the secondary is a few thousand. You're in the ballpark. Make sure you have completely removed the coil for the most accurate readings. If it were me working on this, I'd try another spark plug. They're cheap. Get a good quality though (NGK or Champion) Avoid Torch and E3 plugs.
Thank You so much /May GOD blessing @@TheLawnmowerLady
GOOD JOB LAWNMOWER LADY! MORE POWER TO YOU!
Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Do you have a video on how to do the auto show can how to get hooked up? Can you help me please
Auto show? I'm not sure exactly what you are asking?
hi good afternoon. question I got a pretty similar mower like this i did all the maintenance like you did in this video, I even clean the carb because dirty, and now it surges, what could be the issue? or how do i adjust it?
Could be several things? Check the springs are in the correct place and not stretched. If this mower has the plastic air vane operating the choke butterfly, it might be obstructed in some way. Make sure there is no mouse nest under the shroud obstructing the movement of the air vane. Lastly just make sure there are no air leaks around the carb and the intake manifold. Hope this helps.
👌👍👍👌
Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady thank you young lady 💐
Stella,Awesome video and job as usual! Are you going to keep that spark plug with the B&S Logo?
I usually toss 'em Mr JJ. Cheers!
@@TheLawnmowerLady That is vintage it might be worth something some day ;) Merry Christmas to you!
Thanks! You too! 🎄🌟
My buddy has a 21 inch "crasftsman exclusive 6.75 MRS" would these parts be the same?
Impossible to tell you. I suggest you look up the engine model # stamped either on a metal plate above the muffler, or on the side of the valve cover. The model number is a series of numbers and letters in the format ###X## #### X# The remaining numbers are not needed to find your parts. Any major parts house: partstree, jackssmallengines, repairclinic, etc., will have exploded parts diagram.
Can u tell me what mulching blade to use. Mine is old and can't read numbers
I honestly cannot, no way to tell if your mower was made by MTD, or AYP. I suggest you take your blade off, and take it to a lawnmower shop, not a big box store, and get the correct blade. I wish I could be more helpful.
awesome videlawn mower LADY do you know where can i get parts for mine i am in canada bc need throttle cable for sure and tune up parts
There's always Amzn but they will be pricey. Local dealers, not big box stores can also order parts for you. Thanks for watching.
Question: my mower starts but after 30 20 seconds or so I hear it bog down then it shuts off. Then it's hard to start. I changed the filter, and spark plug. It has oil. I might have to drain some out. But what else can I do to get it goin?
Sounds to me like a fuel delivery issue. Start with the fuel hose going into the carb. Make sure fuel flows freely. Could be a collapsed fuel hose or debris in the tank, there is a fine mesh screen in there. Then check if fuel is getting through the needle and seat to fill the carb bowl. A bad float can stop fuel flow. I hope this helps.
@@TheLawnmowerLady thank you so much! I love all of your videos! Very very helpful!
@@TheLawnmowerLady
Hi Ms Stella in your opinion do think it would be a good idea to purchase a lawnmower like this one for $40 and get it fixed? Hopefully by mimicking all you do I can get it to work
Great videos btw another video of yours helped me fix a Ryobi blower works like a charm now
I would do a few checks on it... Look underneath for bent blade, oil leaking around the crankshaft (indicates a bent crankshaft) Make sure the blade turns free and true when you pull on the cord (there should be some resistance). Take a can of starter fluid or carb spray (check the can to make sure it says "extremely flammable") Squirt a couple of shots in the intake after you remove the air cleaner (you'll see the condition of the air filter), make sure a bit of oil is showing on the dipstick and give it a few swift pulls. It should cough and sputter for a few minutes. That mower would be a keeper, and you can fix everything else. Good luck. Cheers!
Where can you get wheels for this mower
You need to look up the parts diagram for your exact mower. The model # on the deck, usually under the grass flap. Use that number on any major parts house: partstree, jackssmallengines, ereplacementparts, etc., to ensure you get the correct parts.
Lawnmower Lady what do you think of Bosch spark plug on the mower that is Briggs and Stratton engine that’s my dad’s mower I told him supposed to be use Briggs and Stratton or champion spark plug he said it don’t matter i I told him it does matter
Personally I think any well known name brand plug (NGK, Champion, Bosch, Denso, etc.) is a suitable substitute. I check to see what is listed on www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/ That said, a plug with the same physical characteristics, (thread length, pitch, etc.) will probably work, maybe just not as well as the manufacturer recommended plug. I always steer clear of knock-off brands like Torch and E3. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
Why is it so hard to find a grass bage for those Lawnmower,?
I wish I knew really. You might have some luck searching something like the MTD parts website (MTD probably makes about 70% of mowers on the market today) for all kinds of brands, probably all use the same bag, but badged differently depending on brand: Craftsman, YardMachines, Troy-Bilt, etc.

Always puzzled me why Briggs couldn't have made the filter cover screw with a Philips head. The cover is held on with two Philips screws and the carb cover has a single Philips screw.
Hmmm never thought about that. But maybe those coarse Phillips are only for going into plastic? That cover and the card screws are going into metal. Thanks for watching!
