Yeah, while Kobes shoes are certainly one of the best basketball shoe lines around, its a real shame that a lot of them now go for outrageous prices on the resale market.
Agreed. I’ll throw in another unpopular opinion. At the foundation, the Lebron 21 has the same technical features as the Kobe 6 but the Lebron it has more zoom units, better heel cushion referring to the Nike sphere tech, top loaded shank plate vs bottom, but it has a thicker upper…. To me, considering the price difference, I’d rather have the Lebron’s.. more tech in a shoe that has the same foundational features, that’s FAR cheaper and readily available. At that point I would be paying for hype, status, and legacy as opposed to actual technical features. All respect to Kobe, RIP to a legend, but I can’t bring myself to buy scalped shoes like that.
Great stuff! You should do a series on dress shoes. I bought some recently and I was wishing you had some videos on cutting dress shoes in half. You can show the differences between cheaper brands and higher end ones. Lots of leather too. I think it could be an interesting series!
They're actually not built that differently from boots! (Traditionally made like Carmina, Alden, C&J, etc.) Just without the shank. There is unfortunately not much variety except for cheaper materials xd
Played Basketball for 30 years. Played in these during the original release. The Kobe 5, 6, and 8's are the 3 best shoes to hoop in. Period. Not overpriced 190$ just need more inventory so we all can indulge in the fruits.
played in the original Vs (as well as the IVs, all the way up to the VIIs) and the Vs were for sure the best. I felt like the VIs were a downgrade in terms of heel lockdown, which was perfect in the Vs. That was before the "Protro" though and for sure before Kobe died. These days I can't afford Kobes and even if I could I wouldn't pay the going price on hoop shoes. They're never in stock for retail
I own a pair of reverse grinches myself, I hoop indoors with them all the time such a good preformer man I can see why so many nba players wearing the Kobe 6
Basketball shoes seem to come with a lot of added hype around the latest integrated tech, but what makes them so different from shoes meant for volleyball? I wonder how something like a popular asics volleyball shoe differs from a basketball shoe.
You can add tennis to the mix as well. Similar motions and lots of abrupt stop start pivoting. A comparison between the 3 would be interesting. ...now I need to go down the rabbit hole on differences between how a slo mo volley ball serve looks and how it compares to the tennis one.
I wear many Asics shoes for basketball, and I can tell you that they're all the same shoes meant to be played on an indoor court, but they just marketed towards the different sports so they can endorse players in the targeted sports
I was able to play in both the original and protros. For the most part, theyre pretty similar. I will say while i enjoy the upgraded forefoot cushion in the protros, the lack of heel zoom make you feel like your heel sinks in the shoe while standing. The heel zoom in the originals made the shoe feel balanced and smooth. These new protros irritate my achilles after long periods of time
I knew that there's other UA-cam channels doing this type of stuff, but it's always great to see a different viewpoints. I'm sure it hurts taking apart a sneaker that costs so much, but it's really awesome to learn this stuff any the construction and purpose of the parts of the sneaker.
I've got a pretty long history of playing basketball poorly. I had the original Jordan's and many others after. I had the Barkley's, Iverson's, and many others as well. The guard on my city league team showed up with the Kobe's first, and he gave a pretty positive review. I bought some the next time I needed new shoes. They are IT, the Kobe's are the only basketball shoe, everything else is just playing.
Context, there is something different about the shoe. I was a D1 athlete in my prime, and I'm still in very good shape and capable of moving somewhat like an NBA player. The issues I run into with basketball shoes are durability and power transfer. I've torn many basketball shoes apart in transitional movements, they don't hold up to the forces I'm placing upon them and the seams split and soles separate. There are others that do hold up, but the materials have too much give and I lose a lot of snap in my movements. The Kobe's hold up, and provide great base to generate power. They're very rigid where it matters.
I played in the original Kobe 1s when I was in middle school and am lucky to own a pair of Kobe 1 protros today. I don’t remember how the originals felt 😅 but thought they were great then. I also love the protros today
Great video and information man Would like to see those maximum comfort running shoes cut in half as a series. Nike invincible series being one of them
To compare the danners could you do a video of the Eddie Bauer K-6's they used to be a competitor with danners boots. They are half the price but I think that compare well still.
I keep looking at this shoe and can't help but think how similar it looks to the fabled Zoom Vapor 9.5 Federer used before leaving for On. Both low court shoes with very similar thread and, by looks, midsoles though quite different uppers. Y'all should get a pair and run them through here.
please we need a video on how much to do conditioning and what best products are. plus it is always possible to re-dye a shoes? angelus product for dying are ok?
I would like to request: Devoloper Boring, 1985 Jordan 1. Sneaker reviewers praise the leather quality and overall quality of the shoe but, as someone who makes shoes, they look horrible.
I played in the first Nike Kobe shoes & they were garbage. I had to take them back 3 times bc they fell aoart after one game. I contacted Nike customer service & they said if I don't like it don't buy any more & I haven't purchased a Nike product since
@@stevenjm12 Wrong. You just don't understand it. Buy the shoes because you like them.... not because someone else got paid to wear them. Professional athletes will perform well in any sneakers they wear. Just like a master musician can make any guitar sound great..
And no wonder why they making sure LeBron basketball release and not release kobe.Nike is hateing. They knew Kobe basketball is so damn good and will sell out alot
I copped 2 pairs of these during the holiday.. I have yet to play in them or wear them. With summer around the corner I can’t wait!!! I also copped the Kobe Aquas, I feel like they are a bit long but I will wear thicker basketball socks I guess. Great video.. love the content
No, all the Kobe 6 Protros are only forefoot Zoom. Any breakdown you've seen that had a heel Zoom unit are using replica shoes, which still come with both the heel and forefoot Zooms. Look up Kobe 6 WK Batch on UA-cam for breakdowns of the specific Kobe 6 replica shoes that still have the heel Zoom.
Believe it or not, Kobe's line up only sponsors two players with free shoes - Demar DeRozan and PJ Tucker, because of their close connections to Kobe. Every other player is buying them off the resell market to wear, just like regular people, because they want to wear them for clout. You have to realize a lot of NBA players are in their 20s and are big Kobe fans, just like anyone else.
Im aorry but I cant listen to this guy talk about basketball shoes. He doesnt provide nearly enough info and just isnt good at talking about why the shoe would be good on court. Please go back to just Weston talking.
Use Code Rose20 here andcollar.com/discount/Rose20... to get 20% off &Collar shirts!
Can't do it with this new guy. It's not a calm soothing channel anymore.
Might be an unpopular opinion, but Im glad you cut up even the hype sneakers. Really shows how much of it is hype vs price for performance.

@@hammo4168 GT Cut 3 is also good too. Nike knows Kobe line is desirable so they purposely limit supply to keep that status.

I had kobe 6s in high school 10 years ago and it was my favorite shoe of all time. Original release was great quality and the zoom was awesome.
The new guy's flow and presentation skill seems a bit better in this one. Already improving.

The resale market has just ruined everything. It’s not just Kobe’s. It’s almost every popular collab too.
Your reviews are awesome. Are you planning on reviewing/cutting the Justin Resistor boots?
No one was rocking kobies back in the day but no since he's passed everyone all of a sudden wears them.
Thank you for saving my money for cutting these out. Subbed 🎉💯

you should cut open the new LV timberlands! interested to see if there’s a quality difference
A real snakeskin pair would be sick!
The problem with clothing made from recycled bottles is that you take something that can be recycled and turn it into something that cannot be.
I love this channel. A full snake skin Kobe 6 would look nice!
The cheapeat reps has zoom unit at heel n forefoot (WKB) around 50$
High quality content as always!
