  • Finally! Just traded up from a 1025R to this 2025R! Unloading & Unpacking the 54" Snow Blower & 3-Point Hitch components and than a quick test of the Backhoe. Taking the 2025R up to the Shed to remove/store the 260B Backhoe for the winter and install/attach the 3-point hitch. Relocate the Gator up to the shed, removing and storing the plow. This frees up the Gator to haul logs out of the woods and move split wood to the house.
    At the end of it all cleaning the mud and muck off, and move into her new home in the garage to prep to mount the 54" snow thrower . . . .

      I hope you get delivery of yours soon. I know there has been a delay in getting inventory to dealers resulting from Covid that has impacted just about all the suppliers JD depends on that has slowed down production. Its even impacted getting parts as well as some attachments.
      It took me over a month to locate a Post Hole Digger at another JD dealer when my dealer could not give me a delivery date other than TBD for about 4 weeks. Even when I found a dealer with one, over 50 miles away, I offered to make a down payment to hold it until I got there and was told it wasn't necessary. Guess what, by the time I got there they had sold it!
      Usually dealers are more cooperative with each other and there inventory for customers. It just added to the impact they are feeling getting things from factory in reasonably shorter periods in the past as to now.

Lots of youtube videos of owners not caring one iota about their equipment. These tractors etc cost a bunch of money and when they break down it is always the equipment's fault. Thanks . . I have always lived by a key cardinal rule with equipment - if you don't take care of it, it won't take care of you. Another way I look at it is every piece of equipment has a hidden "critical need detector", meaning when you need it the most, something happens! I really do enjoy putting the care & maintenance into this equipment to avoid to the greatest extent possible that critical need detector from activating!!

      Thank you for the feed back and very much appreciate your comments. I do not use my 2025R for mowing. For my property that is lawn it is heavy, and high. I have to do a lot of maneuvering around trees, and flower/plant beds. If/when I get a good rain that softens the ground, the maneuvering I have to do using the 2025R tears the lawn up. Additionally because of the height of the machine, I can't get under/around many of the trees in my yard.
      The solution I use for mowing is a zero-turn mower. It has a much larger tire footprint with more than half the loading per square inch of tire contact with the ground - thus a lot less damage to the lawn.
      The only videos I have come across that highlight the mower deck removal, and the removal of the associated lifting/locking mechanism has been John Deere produced videos. They tend to not go into a lot of detail which is frustrating, and really over simplify the removal.
      I wish I could have helped you - again thanks for watching and enjoy your machine!

      Thanks. I don't use this tractor for lawn mowing. It's heavy, and can tear a lawn up a little if you have a lot of turning and maneuvering you need to do because of the size of your lawn. I avoid running it on the lawn if the ground is wet and will wait for things to dry up a little before any heavy use back and forth. On my 1025 I had the Industrial aggressive trade tractor tires - with the 2025R I went with what they call a Radial Tire - much better distribution of weight across the tread, and I haven't noticed any degradation of traction.

    You would be the perfect man to answer a question about this tractor. I live on a small 3 acre lot with really no farming things to use it for but i do have small jobs to use it for. My land is hilly and i was wondering if the 1025r would be more stable with the smaller tires? I worry i will regret not getting the larger frame but if hills make the larger machine prone to tipping I would save money and stay safer working my tractor, thanks for any input.

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  3 роки тому

      I am humbled in your opinion I can answer this question for you, there is wide range of opinions, and practices on this subject. I have the same size property that's about 2 acres of lawn, with an acre of wooded area. Fortunately it is moderately sloped with the exception of a steep bank in the front yard going doing to the road that is about 10 feet wide.
      As you may know, to prevent tipping to the greatest extent possible is to keep the machine's center of gravity as low as possible. John Deere as part of their engineering and design process, test their tractors per an ANSI spec on a tilt table - which is a static test (not moving) to 20 degrees. This applies to both the 1025R & 2025R (as well all of John Deere tractor series).
      Even on a moderate/slight slope (

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  3 роки тому +5

      Sorry for the delay in responding - been a crazy summer so far! The 2025R is really a "big brother" to the 1025R. The engine in the 1025R and 2025R is the same - 25HP Diesel. The difference is ~6" higher ground clearance, 10" longer wheel base, and most important that I needed over the 1025R is ~300-400lbs more lift capacity with the loader, and about 400-500 lbs more work effort with the Backhoe all due to a larger hydraulic pump with higher flow rate and increased pressure.
      The 2032 is really a major step in tractor size - 32+HP, 500-600LBS heavier, much longer, taller, and a lot more lift capacity. There is nothing in common really between the 2025R and the 2032R, (32HP) or the larger version 2038R (37HP) diesel engines. Not to mention a far greater price difference from the 2025R to the 2032R, as compared to the 1025R to the 2025R.
      Some trivia if you are not familiar with how John Deere designates its tractor models. The last 2 digits typically is the HP of the engine. With the same rated engine in the 1025R it had to have its own name, so it was given a 2 series designation to remain consistent with the last 2 digits being the HP rating of the tractor. The other marketing strategy John Deere uses for the entire 2 series is calling it a "stepping stone" to the much larger (and even greater capability) of the 3 & 4 series tractors.
      My primary decision drivers for upgrading to the 2025R was it gave me the incremental improvement/increase in performance and ground clearance I needed over the 1025R. Additionally, I could park it in my garage & barn taking up roughly the same foot print with the attachments I use. You need a much bigger parking spot for the 2032R. Lastly the machines weight - the 2032R pushes well over 2200lbs with attachments than can really do a number on your lawn if you have a lot of turning and maneuvering needed, and can't get into tight spots like the 2025R can.
      I hope that helps - then again, nobody has ever said your tractor is to big!

    Wow,wow, wow. You look like the cat that got the cream. Boy am I envious of you and your new John Deere. I also live on a small acreage and wish to purchase a similar size tractor. Where I live, very south on mainland Australia, I would swap out the snow blower for a fine cut underslung mower. Lots of grass. We have only seen snow here once in my lifetime. How does it perform after having it working this past year? Cheers, Rob.

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  2 роки тому

      You won't regret having this tractor with all its capabilities for the types of projects and yard work I do with it. You're right a Snow Thrower wouldn't get much use where you are, but the attached Mower Deck you'll get a lot of use our of.
      I don't use my 2025R for mowing because of the amount of maneuvering I have to do around trees, walk/driveways and other garden areas. When the lawn gets soft after rains we get, all the maneuvering I would need to do with this heavy tractor would really tear the lawn up. I prefer to use a zero-turn mower that is half the weight, much more maneuverable, and with the tire width a far greater weight distribution (less) per square inch of tire contact with the lawn. This is a personal preference.
      For the rest of the projects I use it for, from hauling/moving firewood, moving and raking out gravel for my access road to my shed, moving dirt, and with the back hoe attachment I have makes digging holes for tree/shrub planting incredibly easy.
      I have just about 70 hours on it now and could not be happier. Thanks for watching!

    Nice upgrade!! Are you happy with it ? Just curious how many acres do you have ? How many acres do you think would be too much for deere to handle. Tks

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you, and yes very happy with it. Although the same engine as the 1025R it has a slightly larger/higher pressure/capacity hydraulic pump that gives you several hundred pounds more lifting capacity for the front loader, as well as increased lift capacity of the 3-point hitch. Along with that it has higher ground clearance, longer wheel base and is a few hundred pounds heavier. Everything I felt for my purposes the 1025R was a tad short/under capacity, the 2025R now meets/exceeds everything I need it for.
      I don't use it for mowing, because of my travel schedule for work I can easily miss a week and the place would look like a jungle, so I have a guy just do that for me. I have about 3 acres of land - 1.5 of it is lawn which it would handle easily if I were to mow it. It can handle has many acres of land mowing you can throw at it - the question becomes how much time do you want to spend doing it. The larger (width) of the mower deck with the bigger Tractors means less passes - so its really about how much time to you want to spend vs. your budget for the machine. Also to consider is the weight of the tractor on the lawn. If you have a lot of turning/edging/short passes you risk tearing up your lawn with a bigger, heavier machine.
      The most valuable attachments I have in addition to the front bucket loader, back hoe, and snow thrower is 42" pallet forks - (you'll find these pallet forks invaluable once you start using them to move other small equipment, items, plants, tools, etc. on pallets), 72" rake that attaches to the 3-point by the JD iMatch, as well as a Carry-All that I got at Tractor Supply building on it a 42" high x 40" wide x 34" inch deep shelf. Also added to it two Chainsaw holding brackets on it for my Sthil 362 & 250, makes for a nice complete attachment to carry tools needed, and can load a lot of wood on it too.

However the more I was using it there were limitations that kept coming up in regards to ground clearance, front loader lifting capacity, and 3-point hitch lift capacity, etc., etc. Yes, the 2025R has the same diesel engine as the 1025R - BUT - it has a larger hydraulic pump, with higher flow capacity that gives it the higher capacity ratings, in addition to it physically being, higher, longer and heavier. • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  4 роки тому +1

      Absolutely I still love it - it's exceeding my expectations upgrading from the 1025R I had for about 2 years. The larger hydraulic pump, with the same engine HP has given me the added lift capacity in the Front Loader as well as the 3-Point hitch I was looking for. The increased wheel base length & machine weight is a nicely improved ride for me, as well as the added ground clearance gets me in and out of places the 1025R struggled a little bit with.
      I would urge you to pay particular attention in operating the tractor on grades/hills, and always be very aware/sensitive to potential roll-over situations.
      Secondly, proper ballasting is also very important. You want weight to be as much as possible balanced between the Front & Rear axles - Max loading of the Front Loader, with out the right about of ballast on the 3-Point Hitch, or rear wheel weights, etc. will stress the front axle as well as front tire loading. Just use common sense, be aware at all times, and you'll have no problems - its really a magnificent machine.

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  4 роки тому +2

      I am surprised to hear you had a problem locating a new 2025R - were you working with your local John Deere dealer? Like auto dealerships they do work with other dealers - if another dealer has inventory they usually trade for it between themselves to fill customer orders - that how I got mine at my dealer in Feb 2019.
      I don't use mine for mowing - simply because I travel frequently (except for the last 8 weeks!) and if I were to miss a week mowing, it would be a jungle, so I have a Landscaper do just the mowing. In the retracted position the deck is slightly higher - I want to highlight "slightly" - maybe just 4-6" due to the over-all higher ground clearance of the 2025R. I would suggest you only have the mower deck mounted for when your mowing. If you have other work to do with the bucket, or the pallet forks, or really any other attachment, don't risk accidentally damaging the deck, remove it.
      By the spec sheet the front loader lift capacity for the 1025R is 681 Lbs - for the 2025R it's 882 Lbs - keep in mind this capacity is measured at the lower lift pins - not at the end of the bucket, or tips of the pallet forks. It's best with the pallet forks when possible to have as much weight closest to the tractor and not hanging way out.
      I also like the new tire option for the 2025R. I have the radial tires. A good cross between the lawn tires and the traditional aggressive tractor tires (R4S). It's about weight distribution of the tire tread - this is a heavy machine for its size (and needs to be). With the loader on the weight is just shy of 2,000lbs. Sharp turning and maneuvering on your lawn can easily tear it up, especially if its wet after a good rain with an aggressive tread pattern. Additionally these radial tires provide better traction when snow plowing or blowing on hard/paved surfaces.

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for watching ! When I took delivery of the tractor it was right after a day of pretty good rains. What you see tearing the lawn up was the weight of the tractor driving over a really rain soaked lawn, not so much the tires. I was driving pretty much in a straight line and not turning. If I had the industrial tires on my machine it really would have made a mess of lawn. I should have waited a day or two for the lawn to dry up a bit, before I moved things into the shed.
      The Turf Tire has roughly the same amount of contact area with the ground as the Radial Tires. Not exact but far more contact area then the Industrial Tires. This is good for the widest (largest) amount of weight distribution per square inch of the tires contact with the ground.
      If you look at the load rating of the Turf Tire to the Radial Tire you will find the Turf Tire has a much lower load rating than the Radial Tire - this compromises the tractors over all capacity performance, like with the loader. Additionally the Turf Tire is smaller diameter, that lower's ground clearance if that is important to you. The Radial Tire has a load rating compatible to the Industrial Tire, identical ground clearance, which made it a good choice for me, alone with being far less aggressive.
      If the dominate amount of work/use you have for you machine is just lawn mowing, I can't disagree the Turf Tire is a good choice. I never considered my 2025R for lawn mowing, because of it's weight given the amount of maneuvering I would have to do around trees, flower beds, walk ways, etc., not to mention it's height to get under/around trees and shrubs it would just tear my lawn up.
      My solution for lawn mowing, and to minimize damage to the lawn is using a zero-turn mower. Being a lighter machine, it is way over half the weight per square inch of tire contact area, thus less impact to the lawn.
      Food for thought - Enjoy your John Deere!

You make a valid point that I can't blame PowerPlace for wanting to get their price. I always get competing bids from three other dealers including the one I think you purchased your tractor from. Plus, as you probably know you can get a lot of comparative pricing on-line as to what the "real" selling price is.
      Yes, PowerPlace initially offers equipment at the full MSRP. Come in armed with other competitive dealer pricing, and they will work with you. The best JD Dealers to get the most competitive offers are from their bigger, heavy machinery & agriculture dealers that sell the biggest of JD equipment. I forgot the name of it but there is one not to far from the north western NJ/NY border. PowerPlace is categorized as a Small Farm/Agriculture dealer that sell from the 200 Series of lawn tractors up to the big 4 Series of JD Tractors. The big heavy machinery/agriculture dealers practically give away these subcompact tractors (1025/2025) being really focused on the big stuff.
      In the end I knew I got a deal that was the best you could get anywhere - which was approximately 15-18% below the MSRP. As always it depends on the time of year, the month, day of the week, and their inventory when you're there - glad to hear you got a good deal on yours too.
      Now try to stop grinning as you use it for the jobs you do - someone will think you're having to good a time, and not really working!

    Do you still like that snow blower or have you had any problems with it? I'm concerned about the mounting and the plastic impeller.

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  Рік тому

      I (still) like the snow thrower very much. Its a tough piece of hardware. The mounts/brackets/lifting system is all heavy gauge steel. When it's on the machine, it's ON the machine. It has the needed flexibility of course for when you might tap the driveway stone edging, or curbs allowing some movement/flexing - if it didn't have this flexibility things would crack and snap.
      Is that your concerns about the mounting system?
      The Augers are steel, driven by a steel shaft via chain drive from PTO shaft that also spins the impellor. Yes, the impellor is a plastic material - it is made from a super-strength polypropylene. Minimally it is equal to the strength of steel, and at almost half the weight. I have not had any impact damage on the occasional times you pick up a rock, or small tree limbs that are buried in the snow. Not even a scratch, or any leading edge chipping. The other great feature being that it is made from a polypropylene, it never will rust, or need to be sanded/re-painted to prevent rust - that you do have to do with the Auger on occasion.
      I hope that answered your questions - thanks for watching!

      @@m3entertainment228 Thank you so much for that reply. My concerns are based off of other internet comments but most seem to be positive. I'm between buying this or a pusher plow because most of the snowfalls we get in MN are only about 1 inch. I like the snow blowers ability to shoot the snow where ever I want but is overkill at the same time. AHHH what to do?

    Can you tell me if you notice the increased seat height vs the 1025r (like when you're mowing under trees). My only conern with 2025 vs 1025 is mowing around trees ( I have a LOT of trees!)

    • @m3entertainment228
      @m3entertainment228  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, there is about a 6"-8" increase in seat height vs the 1025R. There defiantly are places I could get under comfortably with the 1025R, that just doesn't happen with the 2025R.
      One of the key drivers for me was the added ground clearance. I had real issues with my 1025R in the woods pulling out firewood, as well as with the additional weight getting better traction. The 2025R exceeds my expectations along with the 300-500lbs added lift capacity of the loader, 3-point hitch and back hoe over the 1025R.
      Keep in mind the 2025R is 400-500lbs heavier - it can tear a lawn up if you have alot of constant turning you are doing, as well as making ruts from where the tires will always be tracking. If the lawn is wet & soft after a rain it will really do a number on it. As a personal preference I use a zero-turn mower to do my lawn that is more than half the weight and a lot easier on it to. I have a number of trees, as well as flower/plant beds & garden areas to mow around that I don't consider doing with the 2025R.

      Great reply. Convinced me in buying the 2 series because of better clearance. Will order one soon. I liked the video by the way.

    Can it handle a 72” mid mount mower deck?

      The largest mower deck I believe by the JD Spec sheet is 60" for the 2025R. If you want a lager mower, it would be suggested you look at Bush Master, tow behind type mower.

    I have a 2018 1025R TLB. Looking to move to the 2025R TLB. Dealer says I should sell privately and not trade in. Did you sell privately or trade it in?

      My 1025R was a 2017, with the Front Loader, Back Hoe, and 47" Snow Thrower. When the redesigned 2025R was 1st introduced in 2019 it immediately caught my attention as I was finding my 1025R just short in lift capacity, both in the Front Loader as well as the 3-Point Hitch, as well as having ground clearance issues on occasion.
      I quickly found out my John Deere Dealer, whom I have worked with for a number of years and have a great relationship, would only offer me the wholesale value of the machine as a trade-in. So (roughly) $22K 1025R new in 2017, with just 65 hours on it, I was offered $13K, that included the Front Loader & Back Hoe.
      Not happy. In fact it was killing the deal for me at that point and just keep the 1025R - which over-all is a GREAT machine. I had been looking at 1025R's equipped like mine, with a lot more hours in Machinery Finder, and other Used Equipment Sites - all being offered for around $17K - $19K.
      A few weeks later I also found out because of the re-designed mounting system on the new 2025R, none of my 2017 1025R attachments would mount/work. So I had to replace the 47" Snow Thrower as well. I was only offered about $500 to include the Snow Thrower in the trade. As a note - the 2019 1025R could not mount the 2017 1025R attachments - the mounting system on the 2019 1025R was redesigned the same as the new 2025R - ONLY same model year tractors, attachments could be used on either machine.
      Clearly what my JD Dealer was telling me (as what yours is telling you) they are NOT in the used equipment business. Basically the price they offer as a trade-in is the whole sale price the used equipment sales/auction places will pay to take it away.
      I got lucky that a friend of mine is in the Landscaping business and was seriously looking for a Compact Tractor like the 1025R. He was frustrated, 1st at a limited number used 1025R's for sale, and 2nd, those he found were pushing $19K - within $2-3K of a new machine - all outside his budget.
      As a friend, and wanting to help/see his business continue to grow, and knowing the 1025R would increase his productivity significantly, as well as being able to take on larger projects, I offered him $17K, with everything, which was $4K more than what I was offered as a trade-in value.
      Naturally he didn't hesitate, and I felt good I helped him, as well as I could keep tabs on the 1025R as to how he was using it and how it was performing.
      Long story short - the good side you'll get much more selling privately. The down side - having to sell it privately and putting up with all that's involved with that.

    Did the dealer negotiate any off? Mine wont budge on price but the dealer 40 min away will drop 700 hundred off.

      This is my second tractor I have bought from my John Deere dealer, the 1st was a 1025R I got in 2017. I sold that one to buy this 2019 2025R that was in Sept/Oct of 2018. He also has serviced my 2006 HPX Gator that I had bought used from another JD dealer in 2008. Additional he is a Sthil Dealer that I purchased my chainsaws and back-pack leaf blower from. Of course that includes extra chains for the saw, as well as fuel oil additive, maintenance kits, etc., etc. So yes, he worked with me on the price for the 2025R.
      I had configured it with the Front Loader, Back-Hoe, and the 54" Snow Thrower - in the end the price he made available to me was as if he gave me the Snow Thrower which is about $4,500.00 off the MSRP of everything combined. I want to highlight that at the time I was purchasing this tractor John Deere had several Factory Incentive Plans available that I was able to take advantage of that was about half of the discounted price I was offered.
      My cousin is in the market for a 2025R looking to upgrade from his 2016 2026R in the past six months - he got the same reaction from several dealers as far as 150 miles away. One was very frank with him and said John Deere has been nicely surprised with the success of the newly designed 1 & 2 Series tractors with the Factory having challenges keeping up with demand - which tells you they don't need to move much, or at all on price, and certainly don't need any Factory Incentive Plans anymore.
