    Way to go man. You’re very good at what you do. Coming from a fellow teaching pro myself.

    Pure brilliance. For folks who learned tennis with topspin, the process feels much easier. But to unlearn a flat serve. Really genius.

    Another Saturday jem.
    It was so cool to see her smile like that, totally showing her relief after all these years of doing the same thing without making that change.
    Way to go coach!
    Cheers and good weekend.

    OMG, this video is amazing!!!! Actually you have been very kind to the young coach, I can tell you I have been trained by very experienced coach, he is very good but I noticed he really could not explain to me in a away that I can “time” the contact and apply the upward movement correctly. You are a super, result driven coach. Other coaches not able to explain as good as you. I actually figured out myself by practicing tiring a tennis ball to the back of a chair and keep rolling my racket without hitting the chair. Then I also video myself on court regularly to see what I am actually doing against the wall. I also watch and learn from your channel. Another important point is, loose grip, otherwise it won’t work.I am definitely improving, thanks to you. ❤❤❤😊😊

    Top spin in great as long as u hit deep. Flat is required in a match. When i use slice at them, they dont do well because they're not used to seeing it. Hitting top all the time helps opponents get in a groove .

    Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fu**ing thing... over and over again expecting... sh*t to change... That. Is. Crazy." - Vaas Montenegro
    Not gonna lie. I also have issue teaching some beginners in my class which can be really frustating in some cases. Some beginners can do it after seeing it once, others take literally years because they keep falling back to old habits. I'm always searching for new ways to teach new lessons and technique and your videos have been really helpful. So far the numbers of my students keep growing but at the same time I also have been dealing with increasingly more beginners that are giving me an new headache.

      @@EssentialTennisyes he should be grateful on his knees he has new students coming to tennis! if tennis is not welcoming, might as well go to pickleball. I say that as a 70 year old who started with pickleball 5 yrs ago in retirement, and then decided to try tennis about 20 months ago (I love it and now put it above PB) - we need patient teachers!

    Does the top spin pro help with this , I have one but never really use it due to time constraints for practicing on my game? Coaching is uselss if its not done correctly .

    also changing the grip so her face is slightly closed would help. tough to topspin with such an open grip...

    Is the "young coach" a new employee or did you start a new program to train coaches?

      @EssentialTennis  16 днів тому +5

      Not an employee, just somebody starting their career who wanted guidance on coaching techniques, principles, etc.

    Her racquet head is open throughout her swing, it's never "face down"...contributor to the "flatness" of her FH?

    • @EssentialTennis
      @EssentialTennis  16 днів тому +1

      Nope.....the face determines the ball's flight trajectory, the PATH of the racquet is what determines what type and how much spin. Open face = ball flies higher, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have topspin.

  • @AutoMotivatedTV
    @AutoMotivatedTV 15 днів тому +1

    I think you misdiagnosed the problem she has a low to high swing path, but right when she makes contact with the ball she opens her racket face and hits up on the ball effectively hitting a flat ball up. Even the slow mo ball at the net she turns her racket face very open and hits the ball straight up in the air

    Swing low to high with a completely open racquet face and see how much topspin you get. None. So it's not the swing path alone that determines spin, it's swing path and the racquet face angle which is equally important. Eg. swing at a 45 deg. path and open the racquet face to -45 deg. You are hitting it flat from the bottom low to high. No spin.

      Makes total sense. By the looks of it this student understood the racket face angle intuitively so the path was the variable Ian focused on.

  • @henryhoward855
    @henryhoward855 15 днів тому

    The face of her racquet is far too open! Of course she is going to get the ball up and over the net. How far out were these balls landing!
