- Hello everyone, and Merry Christmas! It's been a few hours since I left UA-cam. Now that the newest Sakura Wars game is released in Japan, I'll give you guys a lyric video as a special Christmas present. Hope you enjoy!

For those wondering why this song sounds so unique, it's heavily influenced by Enka style, a genre popular in post-WW2 Japan written in pentatonic scale (often associated with Chinese music) and characterized by in-your-face earnestness/cheesiness. It's a weird mix of Western blues and Japanese tradition that goes perfectly with the game's setting.
Do you know of any similar songs to this? I really like this song but it's hard for me to find others like it.
@@2000_bms Surprisingly I can't really find anything Japanese, but Koreans have Trot, which shares the same musical roots as Japanese Enka. For Trot-fusion songs, look up Hong Jin Young's Goodbye or anything by Orange Caramel.
If you don't mind branching out to other genres, check out Wagakki band - famous for its song, Senbonzakura. It blends rock with a realllly old Japanese singing style, Shigin. These people went viral years back.

This is not really inspired by Enka like other songs in the Sakura Taisen series though. To correct you, this song takes a more heavy inspiration from Japanese Gunka (軍歌) or Military song, where Western musical traditions (marching brass and percussion) and western marches meter (4-4 time) are often used in conjunction with Japanese scales and ultra-nationalist topics. Famous example includes Battotai and Fujin Jugunka (hymn to the women service people)
it's more Big Band jazz, i.e. Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman (which was huge in the 20s, 30s, and 40s) than blues, really. It makes sense given that these games take place in the 20s and 30s.
A new generation of the Teikoku Kagekidan requires a new song, though never straying far from the spirit of their predecessors. This song fits the bill.
That is exactly what I thought at first, but while, indeed, the original can't be ignored,, a "new" song is needed in order to connect to a new generation of fans. Especially with a franchise that's been resurrected. Like some people, audiences are hard to please. Anyway, the word "Shinshou" is there for a reason.
It also has implications--if they used the original song as is, then the new Teikoku Kagekidan are implied to live in the shadow of the original. Whoever rebooted the franchise is probably aware that their product has a lot to prove.
No offense to the creator of the video, but the fanmade video you showed is just as sketchy as the new one. THE ALFEE did a better job of "resurrecting" the old "Uchuu Senkan Yamato" theme for the "Resurrection" movie by making it heavy metal and adding a new section.

Those opening beats are engraved in the memory of so many fans, glad they kept them for sure.
It's been 3 months since this game was released and I still can't get this out of my head.

The different countries versions (featuring each member) from the Kayou Show were memorable too. Too bad they're not on UA-cam. I hope we'll get that treatment for the Shin Hanagumi in the future.

This song just has this effect where you feel like you can do anything while its playing.

I was soo obsessed with the series when I was about 12 I think . I had CDs and cassette tapes and even calendars. I'm in my 30s now and hearing the opening riff feels like going back to those childhood memories. Literally fighting a lump in my throat to hold back tears. The new op song keeps up with the times and appeals to younger fans of the franchise, but it slowly grows on you. Yes, that (Hashire~!) is powerful.
If you look at the cast, the original voice actors for Shinguji Sakura and Kanzaki Sumire are back to reprise their roles. God I hope they release a PC port for this game.
I really want a pc port too, i dont think i ever want to buy a ps4 due to sonys censorship practices with their japanese games, so i will always hope for one

I was too young to understand Sakura Wars in its original release (it was Cardcaptor Sakura for me, not Sakura Wars lol).
But at least I've heard the original song enough times to recognize the tunes.

I've watched videos of the new game and I like the world setting very much.
I will keep an eye on this franchise from now.
I got the feeling that while both the old one and the new one provide the epicness, the latter also bring about a more cheerful touch, as in the new cast trying to surpass the old cast and bring a new wind to the audience
Damn, when I hear this song it hit me hard with a great nostalgic feeling. Really bring me back to the day when I was little and was watching Sakura Wars' anime in the 2000s.

Gonna say I really love the new remix opening for the New Sakura Wars. Especially two parts, that part when Sakura say "HASHIRE~!" at the beginning of every chorus, and another part is at nearly the end when they say "Warera arata naru~" man, that part really stab me into the soul. It's was very good. The feeling of this song was very well expressed out.

I pump the volume every time I start the game, and every time at around the 2:29 mark I check my phone, because you can hear what sounds like an iPhone notification sound coming from the left. It’s probably the trumpets, but it still tricks me every time.

This song was a fixture of my life since my early teens, Sakura Taisen was the first anime I ever got into that I recognised as anime. This, though...this was the version that took it from theme song to Anthem. What a perfect celebration of everything it's been.

It be like that, was stuck between Anastasia and Hatsuho, ultimately chose Ana but made a separate save to pick Hatsuho later (since I got all the girls to a high enough trust level I'll do the rest as well after)
