Thomas Röhler's IAAF Diamond League record 93.90 throw at Doha 2017 - Flashback

2017 was the year in which Germany's javelin stars brought their discipline to a new level, smashing records and pushing each other to new boundaries.
It all started at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Doha, when Thomas Röhler and compatriot Johannes Vetter went head to head. Vetter led from the front, appearing to have victory in the bag when he cleared 89 metres. Yet Röhler hit back, hurling an astonishing 93.90 which landed just metres in front of the TV cameraman.
The throw was a new German record and a new Diamond League record. The Doha Diamond League, meanwhile, proved to be the starting gun on a brilliant year for both men, as Vetter went on to better Röhler's mark later in the season.

It was with old style javelin, in 1984. Javelin design was changed in 1986, so that the new design flies shorter distances, because athletics stadiums are not designed for such long throws.
