Newport Secondary: Old Colony & Newport Railway Flatcar move

On 6/6/2024 the Old Colony & Newport Railway moved a former NYC flatcar down the Newport Secondary Line. It will soon be loaded and used to move materials for a track project. The OCN crew used Porter JPEX 7349 to move the flatcar into Newport near Admiral Kalbfus Rd. crossing. Stay tuned for future videos and updates on the Newport Secondary!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the NY Central paint scheme was black with white lettering, while its successor, the Penn Central, had that green we saw. Sorry, but I'm a stickler for correct historic information. But, also realize that I thoroughly enjoy your videos, and thank you for all you do to bring them to us!

Unanswered questions: 1. What is the flat car used for? 2. What was the reason for leaving it where it was retrieved from? 3. For what reason or purpose was it transferred to where it was dropped off? 4. Why does it seem videos are filmed mostly on rainy days? Thank you.

All active crossings were flagged if the signals did not go off.
