This is the worth I've seen for years with damage from a tornado. To blow a semi truck away to land like that is just scary. I pray all these people get help and my deepest condolences to the lives lost.
This is part of the reason I left Missouri we lived almost on the state line with Kansas and I almost lost my right arm from the elbow down because of a Tornado 🌪️ in 2004 thankfully I'm an RN and knew what to have my daughter do too stop the bleeding I could have passed away but it wasn't my time. Praying that they build safe housing. If the government expects people to live in areas where they know it’s dangerous year after year they should create housing and shelters for safety.
That's the same thing me & husband was talking about "poor, have nothing, no way to recover financially" that if we got hit we would be in the same boat or dead, cause we're covered with 100 ft trees & no place to run or shelter in, it's very frightening. 😞

Having been in a similar situation, with very little to start with I wasn't as attached to the importance of an old house as someone with extensive holdings and possesions. I still owned the land and my family weren't killed. ( The reporter echoed similar sentiments when he mentioned what ppl there were saying.) However, I'm an Aussie. It was in Darwin a city of 46,000 ppl that was destroyed by cyclone Tracy. The gov were committed to whatever it took to restore the city and jobs. From what I hear USA gov (red or blue alike) are less inclined to really help their ppl. On-line friends have said a natural disaster like this in small towns could very well wipe them off the map no matter how resilient folks are. Indeed heartbreaking.
Considering the insane amount of debris around the place those winds would have turned the area into a meat grinder. people are so very lucky to be alive but I would imagine the casualties are numerous. My thoughts are still with you all today, this must have been beyond scary to experience.

I lost a friend during a different tornado event in Kansas. His name was Rowf. He was kind of up there in age. But a tornado went through the area effecting Rowf's and his Dog whom were taking cover in the bathtub. Well after the incident, they found both Rowf and his dog lying in the field. RIP to all that died from Tornadoes.
The man who was sucked out, it just wasn't his time to leave Earth as yet, and he can thank God for that mercy. May God comfort those hit by this catastophe, and supply their needs even as they look to rebuilding.
I never ever want to experience a tornado passing again. You can't imagine how terrifying it is. I heard this cacophony then that roar. It was midnight (central Florida ). I sat up on the side of the bed and thought am I going to live or?? When daylight came it was unreal. What a mess.
“That time of year” seems to be expanding it’s timeframe. Usually April and May are the worst for tornadoes. This is MARCH, and we have had them in the country in various places even before THIS month!

The last thing some of these people probably saw was the massive wedge thundering towards them between flashes of lightning. It gives me anxiety thinking about it.

As in the case that hit my town in 2011 we had a tornado that was an ef4 and it had satellite tornadoes which looks like arms coming out of original tornado but it wasn’t a wedge tornado. . Hate to be that guy but width has nothing to do with it. I haven’t seen clean foundations or manhole covers removed. Probably will stick with EF4 unless there’s a very small bit of ground scouring where they can for sure say 200+ mph winds.
This reminds me of hurricane Andrew when I was a child. The destruction all around. And as it happens it sounds like a train & you hear a whistling sound.
That water table is bad. My great grandmother was from and buried in Rolling Fork. I remember attending the funeral (lived close and knew her well) and then having to enclose her coffin to keep it from floating up.

I’m from Mississippi so I know how bad weather can be there I even went through hurricane Camille I was a small kid then ,maybe a company could make a plastic or laminated type of storm shelter anything so people could be safe
Thus is horrible. The damage is just terrible and it’s odd looking. It’s like there are mounds of debris as if stuff was pulled into a funnel and then dropped to the ground in that same funnel shape.
With so many tornadoes all over these many years, it is heartbreaking to hear so many tragedies have happened, from people losing to their houses and belongings, to people losing their lives. What I still don’t understand is why don’t states have regulations to build houses that will sustain strong winds and tornadoes. In California, buildings and houses must be retrofitted to meet seismic requirements, and new buildings & houses must meet seismic requirements. Why don’t they do the same in all these states that are impacted with tornadoes have some regulations to have buildings/houses adhere to some safety regulations? Mind boggling!!! Remember the story of the three little pigs: “The third little pig worked hard all day and built his house with bricks. It was a sturdy house… It looked like it could withstand the strongest winds. … And he [the wolf] huffed, huffed, and he puffed, puffed; but he could not blow the house down.” Why don’t the build houses with bricks or stones that will withstand strong winds? Some of it are developer companies that are building houses with cheap material. Shame on them!

The weather will continue to affect areas more intensively. My advice to many purchase a storm shelter or create a storm room in your home. Any metal or concrete enclosure sunken in your yard can save your life. Communities should work together in purchasing shelters. Prayers for those affected 🇺🇸
Maybe ppl should learn from the birds and understand that nobody can stop the nature! If the ''nest'' was blown away, build a new one after the storm but focuss on staying safe and alive! Prayers!🙏

Good idea. The places of worship would be a good start. Build sturdier so they don’t get wiped out and are able to convert to shelters, plus kit them out with food,water,blankets,etc. After all that’s their prime purpose.

We live 10min from amory where the tornado ended. Very lucky. Traveled over 100 miles!!!

A cement dome will work and isn't that expensive. Cheaper than a mobile home but you would need good air conditioning because cement gets very hot.

Why are the houses built so flimsy, mainly of wood and drywall? Even a tornado could not destroy a concrete reenforced steel rod construction. I suppose there must be a reason why such houses are not built.

My thoughts exactly, like they know this is tornado valley so the construction requirements must change going forward to ensure people can actually “live” in these areas consistently in the paths of predictable tornadoes

A reinforced concrete and structural steel house is unheard of. It would cost a million in materials and skilled labor for a 2 bed 1 bath.
Most houses in America are built that way.

The weather will continue to affect areas more intensively. My advice to many purchase a storm shelter or create a storm room in your home. Any metal or concrete enclosure sunken in your yard can save your life. Communities should work together in purchasing shelters. Prayers for those affected 🇺🇸

Warnings were projected onto empire state building. its really miraculous how many locals recognized it before boarding their ghost flights.

The govt needs to start supplying built in tornado shelters for people in tornado proned areas especially considering I'm sure they don't help much after the fact of an awful event like this anyway, I am praying for everyone God bless you guys I'm so sorry for what y'all have been through 💔
I agree especially on the lots where their homes are this happened between 7:00 and 8:00 pm it was dark very scary
There are people still homeless from Hurricane Ian which happened 9/23/22. No FEMA help.
Good idea. The places of worship would be a good start. Build sturdier so they don’t get wiped out and are able to convert to shelters, plus kit them out with food,water,blankets,etc. After all that’s their prime purpose.
FEMA does provide tornado shelters to trailer parks.

Its so crazy to see the only thing left in these homes are many 2-4 walls left standing where they hid inside. It's almost like they had an invisible shield just around them while monster destroyed everything in sight.
