You have probably already tried this but anyway.. I live in Sweden and a significant part of the year we run in the dark conditions. When trails get a bit more technical with roots, rocks etc it has helped me a lot to run with two light sources - one headlamp and one at my waist (using a headlamp with long enough stap to go around the waist). The light from the waist has a lower angle to the ground and significantly increases the visibility of objects on the ground. It works best if the waist light is more powerful than the headlamp. The headlamp is still useful to find the path and point light in the direction you are looking. In addition, when its raining or snowing, the light at the waist doesn't illuminate the rain/snow which can be very distracting with a headlamp.

Hey Jeff. Portuguese here. You are pronouncing Açores correctly. Beautiful islands. It rains often in Açores, so bare that in mind. Weather prediction isn't usually very accurate in Açores. Temperature wise, I think you will find it warm, when compared to Canada. Enjoy it.

Here in Marseille, France : full sun, between 15 and 20°C... Runing in small short and tee-shirt, sunglasses on ! But here, I must say there is snow only one day per year, or even 0 for some years...

Funny you mentioned it, my headlamp went dead during my evening run just today. I was carrying a spare thankfully, mostly because I got quite the collection of headlamps and often can't decide on which one to take with me, so I got several on me then 😆

I did my last race on Saturday 12.11.2022, now I am resting for a few days and then back to running until the first snow :). Not a big fan of skiing so in the winter time I mostly do shorter runs on the road and play football/soccer. All the best from Slovenia.

Hi Jeff, I live on Vancouver Island . We have similar weathers and I also love the fall for running. Always looking to explore and run on any trails near me. I have been following your channel this past year and really enjoy it. Keep it going. cheers.

New to your channel. I picked running back up earlier this year and unfortunately suffered a stress fracture a few months ago that I have been working through. Your videos have helped me still feel connected to running even though I have been only able to cycle for the last 8 weeks. Hoping to be able to run again soon and will definitely use many of your recommendations once I can run again to further prevent injury and ramp up safely. Appreciate the content and looking forward to your future videos! Best of luck in your race!

It's been unseasonably warm here in Washington, DC. Ran the NYC marathon earlier this month and it was a huge sufferfest. Finally turning colder (so mid-50s during the day) and I am with you - layering up with lighter pieces is key, especially after dark.

Thanks Jeff, Some beautiful trails in the PNW! In Geneva the temperatures have just dropped recently, and we have had some snow in the Jura and Saleve. Hopefully I can squeeze in a few more trail runs before the trails are filled with snow, but currently I am training for the biggest race in Switzerland which is the Course de l'Escalade in Geneva.
And then hopefully I will continue to improve my skiing during the ski season!

The rain hit this week in the U.K which turns the trails to muddy bogs. The only good thing is the low temps mean that it’s great for the Canicross Season , with my first 10 mile Canicross race a week Sunday.

Hey Jeff, snow said hello to us this morning in the eastern townships southern Quebec. So one of my most enjoyable running season. I love running in the trails covered in snow. I took a break the last few weeks. Slowly I’m going to start putting fun mileage and get my cross country ski out!

🇫🇮 Last race about a month ago. Leaves have fallen and the trails are a bit muddy , but no snow, just temperatures a bit above 0°C here in southern Finland.
Looking forward to getting some snow, but I’m still enjoying running on trails and gravel biking.

Hello from Montreal and thanks for this Fall update. For 3/4 men tights, Nike Trail make a great one with a smartphone pocket at the waste in your back, some loops and smaller side pockets. I love it. I run fairly cold so I love to layer a sleeveless vest over a longsleeve. I use an old Marmot vest made of Driclime. Warmer than nylon and lighter than a true fleece. Long sleeves with thumb loops can be great because you can use them to bring some warmth to your hands early in the race. For my ears I use a wider headband with a sweat-blocking rubber insert from Halo.

Videos are always great! I was wondering if you would add it to your list to do a video about the difference in training and prep for a 200-250 mile race vs a 100 miler? I’m looking to do my second 100 miler in 2023 and have been interested in some longer options. I’m not thinking stage race or fast pack. More like Bigfoot 200 or Cocadona 250. Thanks again and keep the great content coming!

Believe or not, here in the south of Spain, I'm still running with summer gear. I usually run after drop my son on school with 16-20º C. So I'm still using my long shorts (like Druwalter).
But I really want to get to winter times, and cold to enjoy runnings without sweating that much.

The temperatures are below 0 in Montreal and expected to stay low. I had my first sub-zero runs but don't run "hot" so I have to layer like crazy. It snowed a lot today, but it's expected to stay dry and cold. The streets are clear for running and the parks paths should be trampled to hard runnable snow shortly

Climate change has chased snowfall up to 600m until late December here in sw Norway. Trails are sloppy wet until temps drop. We had 15c last weekend! Now it’s been 30m/s winds for the past 3 days and 9c.

@8'04 I have a Salomon waterproof running pant . It is very thin, but I think its use is only for hiking or for urgent needs. I have use it twice because of the rain. The temperature was about 10-15 °C (50-59 °F). I felt bad because of the internal temperature. I think It's too hot for runing . I want to add that the quality of the pants is very good. .. Anyway the climete here in Cyclades Island - Greece is mush warmer than the main land of our country .. Maybe I made a wrong choice. I don't remember the type of the product. It looks a lot like the Bonatti but it doesn't have a zipper opening at the bottom. Anyway i have it on the side for my hikes on the mountais of the main land :) ...
