I agree with Bisho's approach, which is to guide people and teach them how to pull themselves out of a rip rather than just rescue them. Education leads to more informed swimmers
Nah they’re panicking and most likely out of energy after trying so it’ll go down well. If the teacher was next to them in a controlled situation then yeah.

Most of the time, they need to go 3 metres left and they aren't really in that much danger, so Bisho's approach is fine and we do see that he will go in if the patient is in serious danger.

Bisho needs to invest in a wooden raft to sit out on the water with a lawn chair and a loud speaker so he can just yell at err1 close up in the water wit out getn wet most look like a cook but he'd fit the position well just paddle around from his chair lean'n back telln ppl to swim this way xD

i used to be a swimmer and i hate getting wet it’s not unusual for people to be like that.

I hope that swimmer in the red shorts that was rescued picked his bottle up that he threw onto the sand and is not a litter lout. The music played during the rescue scenes from the nutcracker ballet reminded me of an advert over here in the UK it was used in a chocolate advert with the words “everyone’s a fruit and nut case crazy for those Cadburys nuts and raisins...” I thought it a good piece of music as the people in need of rescue must have been nuts to ignore the signs and verbal messages.

How did you go from a guy hopefully picking up his rubbish, to the music being from the nutcracker, to the music reminding you of a chocolate commercial, to saying the lyrics to the song from the commercial to people ignoring the verbal messages and signs at the beach. In two sentences. 😂🙄

I think it's great that he is educating the people that are close to drowning. By talking to them calmly and rationally about which way to swim, put your feet down, stay calm, definitely helps educate people. However, once their hand goes up, I'd like to see the lifeguard get out there as quickly as possible!
I love when they say "only about 8ft". Like, I'm sorry, but if there's a shark bigger than me then it might as well be the same as a 20ft one

15:06 I think after watching this, most of the time the Asians who are “drowning” are actually just over reacting... the fact that he jumped onto the board as if he has been struggling for his whole life and then you realise he could have just touched the bottom 😂
I mean think about it they’re probably foreigners they looked like they didn’t understand so if someone came up to them yelling in a language they don’t understand they’re going to panic more.

The bottom is usually very uneven so it easy to lose your footing. If you're not prepared for it and not a good swimmer it's easy to panic.

It's on international TV too so most likely his stuff was there and the camera man didn't show it.
So refreshing to hear a victim really appreciate not just the rescue, but his poor decision making processes that lead him to near disaster. He is definitely a reformed convert with a salient message for all! Not only has he had this awakening, but has the humility to admit his failure to heed.

lmfao Bisho is just so hilarious I can’t 😂 “this wayy, this wayy” *boy hops on*, “THIS WAYYY” 😂💀, but he got a point on educating people rather than them relying on people because we never know what would happen next time if there’s no lifeguard or if they are in the different beach, like you never know because people mostly and mainly panic and starts to properly drown after that rather than saying “it’s okay, you can do this stay calm” to themselves which would help them a lot and this is based off my own experience tho ahaha 😂 almost drowned while surfing

I lived on Lamb Island while growing up from 1972 to 1981, I swam with sharks, patted ones my mother had on lines, and yes seen a very large Hammer head longer than the dingy, we never wore black while in the water. They think you are food , I still have all my limbs, they are fascinating animals, people just need to learn about the environment that they enter, learn survival, skills, that will save there lives. And others with them.

It just means that he would prefer not to get wet and who can blame him? It's uncomfortable to sit in wet clothes all day. He still goes out to rescue people when they need it and most likely the producers played it up for controversy of a lifeguard not wanting to get wet.

We rode it in together for a short while, then they dove off
Was only about 3 metres from me at most... Definitely a Cape Fur Seal
What a great experience for sure; I've gotten to swim with a couple of otters when I lived at Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada; but, never a seal😳🙂😳

Luv the music someone has an excellent sense of humour. Clothes, my hubby has 40 pairs of trousers 35 shirts 27 pairs of shoes 38 pullovers 12 jackets, 43 pairs of knickers. God knows how many socks. He's a bit of a fashion fan.
I have so much respect for the lifeguards at Bondi but one... who doesn't belong on the beach, there's one lifeguard I don't want working if I'm in trouble, a lifeguard that sits on the beach watching people in trouble who are getting more tired by the second as he yells instructions. Those poor people! I want a lifeguard who runs out to help as soon as they see me struggling...

I've been watching Bondi Rescue for a couple weeks now and haven't really noticed Bisho. He's got a sense of humor and might come across as lazy but beneath that you can tell he's a really smart guy.
Gotta love it when a drowning person realizes they can just stand up and touch the bottom hah! Kind of like life sometimes.
Must be kind of embarrassing to be struggling in the water and a lifeguard comes up and just stands in the water.
Bisho is preempting the inevitable, so his way of doing his job is absolutely effective.

@@5cats2kids8 Prevention as opposed to action is the first thing we lifeguards get taught. Any good lifeguard will try to maneuver someone out of a dangerous spot before going in themselves. The thing that sets a lifeguard apart from just a good swimmer is that they know exactly when they have to go in and when someone will make it themselves.
I’m absolutely with Bisho! His hair always looks great plus… he really is trying to teach people how to take care of themselves, instead of simply waving for help. If a “swimmer” (most of these victims are “waders” in waist deep water) learns something about saving themselves this is of much more value. I love how he tells people to “stand up and walk” , then even tells them which direction and where to walk. Teaching someone to fish, rather than giving them a fish - “Eh mate?”
