Remington Bradley It’s more than likely that most Asian people live in densely populated areas like the city, and having a swim is something they don’t really experience. So most of them think oh I can swim, but they have an utter lack of practice skill and knowledge of areas like the beach

Ethan not even just paddling lol like all the way down it’s really stupid and is a waste of the lifeguards time.
Its so stupid, Im a strong swimmer. Ive done lessons for years, ive even done lifesaving classes for 2 years and I don’t go past belly button height in the sea
it's not just that it's the rip currents that take people out beyond the sand banks...... but yes ppl are stupid and should look at the signs and flags.

So, if you aren’t aware the oceans are completely different all around the world. They will be used to bays and lochs in which there are no waves and weak currents or in the Mediterranean where there are no currents and you can swim around really far and come back. Strong rips and currents are very common in Australia and as we are used to them we don’t think much of the fact that swimming in our waters is as hard as learning a new language.

Right??? I saw the cut and felt like I was the one who got hurt.
i think shock plays a big part. there was a story about a man who had a pole in his leg and didn’t realise it’ll he was told. also, if he struck a nerve it wouldn’t have hurt because the nerves that cause the pain so snapping them causes no/little pain but can result in more serious/long term injuries. hope this clears confusion :)
(also just to clarify, i’m not at all an expert in this area so this probably isn’t 100% but it’s along the lines. i’m very interested in the medical field)

alot of the times, people dont feel the most intesnse injurys, like a knife through your head or a pole through your mouth, to name a couple, its just too much of a shock to the system

My heart dropped when I saw that dog as an animal lover I’d cry if anything happened to that poor dog
Definitely glad the guy felt no pain getting a cut Achilles tendon. My mum severed hers due to a wine bottle dropping and the glass completely cut it. She was in extreme pain and its had lasting damage and pain, so that kid was very lucky. Though he definitely could have damaged it further since he hadn't felt how bad it actually was

It should be mandatory for all those travelling from overseas to Australia, to undergo some sort of training in what to look for when it comes to our beaches and understand what signs mean. Theres way too many tourists either having near drownings or drownings right across Australia

@@Jay_199 i was more thinking it be a requirement before travelling to Australia. Where i live on the Mid North Coast, we have unfortunately had numerous foriegn tourists whom have drowned. It happens right across Australia
Anyone with half a brain can do their own research online before arriving. Or just go into the shallows and be super cautious

Big signs in Chinese and Korean about the dangers need to be put up! I’d like to know the stats on the languages these rescued patients speak....
They should research before they go on holiday?
One of the ways they communicate with tourists is that they have a message in several different languages on the access page to the beach’s free WiFi telling people to swim between the flags. If they want to use the WiFi they have to watch the warning, but more signs would be good too
every time I watch an episode I think the same thing. I'm sure they get more tourists than natives. the signs should be in multiple languages

Thank God for folks like you! I'd get pissed off at people going swimming who can't swim! I am from Oregon, USA and there are rules to being even on the beach. For instance never turn your back on the water, a log might get thrown on shore and take you out, or the sneaker waves, or NEVER go out in the ocean when the tide is going out!!
That’s nice someone saved a guy someone went “missing” and had the lifeguards stay so they could save that guys things happen for a reason

This show is actually inspired me to maybe become a lifeguard, I'm only a tween, but when I'm older I definitely want to do a job that will help people, I love watching shows like this ♡
As a lifeguard myself the best tips I’d give is to keep up with your swimming stamina (some places actually require their guards to do daily swimming drills) and to constantly review your emergency first aid/CPR because when an emergency does happen you don’t want to freeze up. Overall, it’s a very rewarding job, you meet lots of cool people and have great experiences. I love it 😊
As a career lifeguard and a lifeguard instructor, I’ll tell you to practice your swimming and practice your submersion because being able to get to the bottom of the pool is where most people fail their pretests

Watching these shows completely validates my “not allowed in the ocean” rule raising my kids.
You still need to teach them to swim though, otherwise they will go in the ocean and it will end in tears

Life With Reagan And Isabella they mentioned in an episode where they dont answer most normal knocks, because they know most of those knocks are people who want photos. there is a certain type of knock theyll answer to, because they know thats the knock people use in trouble, so the most youll see them is on the beach doing rescues. also youll need to go to sydney.

Aw matee! I have just started watching these series and they're ripper! I don't have a tv and just got a laptop so now I can experience the full enjoyment of quarantine honestly if we all die from Corona, this is a good way to go.
