I remember Jeff recorded some of those love poems for Comedy Central back in the ‘90s and they would run them as bumpers between commercials.

A natural from the word go. It's one thing to get the crowd on your side, but even at home you get the feeling he's directly talking to you. Hard to believe this was only his first time on network television.
