Well, Darvin didn’t get past the first round this year, so the firing made sense. Only reason why Darvin lasted was that last year they made it to the WCF. I don’t think either head coach gets fired if they had made it to the WCF

The difference is you’ve seen Frank with the right pieces coach a team to the nba championship.
Hopefully the Lakers will hire Micah Nori, David Adelman, Kenny Atkinson, Chris Quinn, or Lloyd Pierce. Let the Suns hire Mike Budenholzer. I still think JJ Redick would be better as an assistant coach for the Lakers.
I like Micah Nori too, I saw him actually coaching the t-wolves engaged in the game & with the players (not just during timeouts). Something ham sandwich never did. Also they focus on defense which is what we need!

I think JJ Redick should start as an assistant coach firsthand. I would like to see the Lakers hire Kenny Atkinson as head coach and have JJ Redick as an assistant. Maybe even having Frank Vogel as an assistant?

Bring back Vogel. This man had an old Lakers roster playing championship basketball and dont forget he pressed all the right buttons in the bubble, he made adjustments against Portland, Houston, Denver, and Miami.
Rondo, Bradley, Green, lebron, dudley, Morris, McGee, and Howard were all over 30, and he made it work. Imagine what he can do with the current roster. Vogel saw the potential in AR, the opposite of Ham not believing in Max Christie.

Lakers need to set their ego aside and consider bringing Vogel back, along with Handy. I’d pair Vogel with an offensive-oriented lead assistant, and also consider adding guys like Rondo and/or Reddick to bring a fresh perspective, and to assure LeBron is onboard with the coaches. I’d also consider adding at least one end-of-bench veteran to strengthen the locker room, like a McGee or someone similar. 🏀

I think JJ was just giving that reason for wanting to be a coach as a way to be relatable to a couple of ex NBA players like himself. He might want to teach and educate but I think in the moment he was being relatable to a couple of friends and ex NBA players..

I think if the Lakers are thinking JJ Redick, they need to use the Steve Kerr template. Equip the coaching staff with a battery of experienced assistant coaches, 3 even 4 coaches covering offense, defense, player development, scouting, shooting name it ...
The identity or winning formula has to be to elevate and maximize the strengths of the best player on the team - AD ... Which means defense.... Length and Athleticism in both the front court and back court.
The coaching staff has to also put a premium on developing the young talents like MaxC, JHS, MaxL, ColinC, Vando, AR into their best versions not just for the short term but long term...

I have an idea. Make JJ Redick the head coach, but also get Coach K out of retirement to be a "special consultant" with the Lakers for the next 1-2 years. Coach K's job would be actively mentor JJ his former Duke player whether it is remote or he spends time in LA to do it.
I love what JJ said. He is a legit option for me, because he can handle the media, is a strong leader, has the tactical brain, and is close with Lebron.

Vogel coming back with Rondo, Phil Handy and maybe JJ as assistants sounds like a winner. Or substitute Vogel with Atkinson. Both are solid choices.

As @jsoft_og7065 pointed out here, Frank had the best coaching staff in 2020. If he was hired again, no JKid, who's gone for good. And also no coach on the floor with Bron, like Rondo. But maybe we could get Rondo back as an assistant coach. I know he always said though he wanted to be a GM someday.

Teaching? I think it goes without saying. The role is literally "coaching". What he said is the granular part of it all that he misses but also emphasizing that in the grand scheme of things, those "little moments" are all a part of coaching. Essentially, he’s saying that what he truly misses is the way those little moments make him feel.

First of as a LeBron fan you are not a Laker fan by default. You'll be a fan of whatever franchise your favorite player plays for. We were here before LeBron and will still be here after LeBron. We are fans of the team, not one guy.
And you might want to check the shooting stats of your better shooters compared to D'Lo, Rui and LeBron himself for last season. Besides Bron they shoot lower volume, but they are absolutely every bit as good shooting the basketball. If give your Allen, but Vando has his own advantages, when he is available. The Lakers perimeter defense is a joke as anyone watching Minnesota handle Denver should finally understand. I knew this during preseason, but yeah, Lakers fans don't want to listen to anybody that understands lineups and the Lakers don't want to listen either. Right Jerry? That's the difference. They had some perimeter defense, we had none without Vando and before Dinwiddie. He's not good either, but better than everyone else. Even Vando can't fight over a screen.
Those 2 clubs are closer to each other than you make it seem and the results show that. Neither Vogel nor Ham are the main people to blame. Neither club had the defensively great glue guys needed for it to work having so much firepower. Someone has to do the dirty work. Both teams lacked that.
