You can’t wait for JK to reach his hypothetical full potential because Steph needs pieces to win now. They could keep him, piss away Steph’s last years, and he may never win them a championship anyway.
I doubt they’ll take it. But if they would take Wiggins, Moody, Looney, and a bunch of picks for Lauri, I’d take that in a heartbeat.

Id ship JK cause of fit. He doesn’t shoot/handle well enough to be a 3, but doesn’t rebound well enough to be a 4. Lauri is better at both.

Kuminga has a higher ceiling compared to Lauri. If we cannot land Lauri, make sure you trade that fucker Wiggins for a stable SF like Ingram and go find an average BIG that can space the floor, grab rebounds and catch lobs.
The only hold up should be if Lauri is gonna sign and extension or not. If he is, you absolutely should be willing to give up Jonathan Kuminga.

Lauri seems like perfect fit for warriors. He can play along side Dray. Adds size, and 2nd scorer we been needing last two years. With JK, I'm not even sure if the coach likes his game (Podz got more run as a rookie than 3rd yr JK) and doesn't even consider him a 3, but a 4. So that means he's Drays backup this yr?
I keep JK at all costs I've seen him punk Brown and Tatum before and that's what we got a play if we're really trying to win again.
I also saw him a year ago legit not be able to play in a playoff game. Like you were dying for minutes and he couldn’t play. What “star” took 4 years to become something. Most stars flash and you know within 1-2 years.

@@NicoEss If you look at the big picture, switchable defensive wings win championships like the Boston has. We have Draymond, Kuminga, & Wiggins if he is on his game. I'm not sure how well Lauri can defend but maybe I'm underestimating him.

For Markkanen, I give our of guards (Pods, Moody, GPII). But I'm with you Shaski on Kaminga. He's is legit NBA shot creator and you don't have many of them. So don't give up on Kaminga. But I see a conflict with keeping both Kaminga and Wiggins. Wiggens go to go.

I want Lauri to be a warrior but tbh giving up kuminga just isn’t smart to me, jk got hella potential and I believe he’s gonna show everyone how much of a asset he’s gonna be for the organization future star leader of the team once curry is done,just in my opinion.
Kuminga's ceiling is higher than Lauri in my view.

I love Kaminga but I think it comes down to now for investing in a future which is still “unknown”. When JP and AW were paid then, I think the team also believed they can be the future moving forward. Not saying Kaminga will be the same but the reality is we will never know for certain.
Me, I will be willing to trade him for Lauri. Curry is something special that the team has and may never come again.
Lauri himself said that he would take less money to be on the Warriors.. that dude is a beast and would make it extremely big difference on the Warriors. They need to get him by any means necessary . No more boring lethargic Wiggins that cares maybe 40% of the time with 40% effort.
Then wait for next season when he becomes free agent, they have space next season when gp2, looney and melton’s contracts are off the hook, that way they didnt give up picks which are so valuable in today’s cba more so with an aging dubs

If necessary, I’d trade JK in a deal for Markkanen quick because in my opinion refusing to trade JK for a win-now piece is tantamount to prioritizing him over Steph. I don’t want to give him up, but I want Steph to have as much help and be as competitive as possible in his last few years. JK right now isn’t helping us win a chip, while I believe Markkanen would. Plus, yeah, JK MIGHT be an all-time great. Steph IS an all-time great. If they’re not making moves to win now because they don’t want to move off of JK, and because they’re restricted financially, just trade Steph so he can be competitive. They’d keep JK and save money.

He has had to fight for minutes. Had to complain to management about minutes. Kerr held him out during the playoffs. We might as well trade him as Kerr has a problem with him. He averaged 16 & 5. Lauri is not the answer & we regress with him as a 2nd option. I would take Lavine contract b4 Lauri.

Kuminga will be where Lauri is in 3 years (just coming into prime). Lauri will be in his prime this year (Same class as Luka Tatum & Booker) Steph needs a prime player not a superstar or Up and coming. Steph is coming out of his prime. Wiggs is coming out of his prime. Dray is coming out of his prime.
Lauri can come in and extend this winning culture 2-4 more years. Then you add more pieces to the puzzle. Like a bridge. Steph will have another contract past 2026 probably 2 year or retire.

Warriors added Buddy, Melton, Lindy and Slow Mo… they loaded up on fringe starters and role players… plus our current players, we’re way way deeper than the Sun’s were with role players…. Suns traded 3 starters and lacked benched depth… we’re better in that regard. But Curry as Batman’s needs his Robin. Is JK ready? Lauri would be nice.
Lauri is extremely overrated. He’s not worth JK/other good young players and multiple first round draft picks. He’s never played in the playoffs, he’s 7 foot but doesn’t block shots and can’t guard centers, he’s brittle and misses 25-30 games a year, he’s not going to guard on the perimeter, and he’s gonna sign a 50 mill a year deal while not proving much. People wanting to trade so much for a question mark is crazy. We’ve never seen him in big games but we’re gonna trade half the team for him and a bunch of first round picks? Seems crazy to me

Kuzma 33% from 3, compared to Lauri over 39% last two seasons. Lauri 3” taller and better rebounder. They aren’t even close.

If you’re not tying to compete with Steph Curry on the roster, you’re doing something wrong. Markkanen makes them a better team than they are with Kuminga, hands down.

I didn’t know that JK is an elite wing defender. Maybe on Tuesdays and Fridays.
He is pretty close to his ceiling. Warriors have a two year window and have to find the very best player available to pair with Steph in that time. Markkanen is probably the best attainable asset at this point.
