Something similar happened in the Netherlands where some major cities banned all use of fireworks (it's a tradition here) so they retaliated by lighting the most fireworks in history, we need more activism like this, f- governments that are trying to take away the small joys of life such as the art of fireworks.

Yea I've never understood that. It's one thing for fireworks to be banned in extremely dry states with a ton of vegetation (California). But it's another thing for states like Hawaii to ban them. It truly is under the guise of "public safety". Nanny laws. I absolutely hate laws where the only real context is "saving people from themselves". I could completely understand if one wished for a law where the use of fireworks was seasonal and possibly under the guise of noise laws (like guns are, ex. no excess noise after X:PM except public holidays), but outright blanket banning just sucks.

Its pretty similar here in the Philippines, especially in the capital city, Metro Manila. Every New Year's eve the whole metro will be covered with thick smog accompanied with various fireworks in all shapes, colors and sizes. The best part of it is when before midnight, Manila's skies would light up and similarly looks like a warzone 🔥✨🎆🎇

There really needs to be more enforcement on the legality of fireworks in some areas. I live in Cali and we have had (in my area) several fires because of these fireworks. It should be very illegal to launch fireworks near large areas of dry grass (where I and many other people live).

@@Samsonschizovsky76 hawaii has a large military presence (veterans), lots of endemic species (which can be harmed by fireworks), and tons of protected areas (where fallout from colorants, metal and explosives can contaminate and pollute)
Well it depends on how stupid a person can be to light it in a certian spot so nothing much happening here in Hawai'i were smart about were we put the fireworks 🎆 🤷♂️

@@fritzthecat5219 it is illegal because people were making homemade fireworks and blowing themselves/ parts of themselves up so the state decided everyone needed a $25 permit to buy fireworks and with the permit you you only could buy the state approved types. And here we are today lol
