  • I work with many men who seek prestige, money, women or fame and status, yet they've rarely questioned WHY they want such things - once you start enquiring into this it becomes clear most of us are seeking things we don't actually want.

    We all had peace and contentment when we didn't exist. Heaven is oblivion.

    I think all we want to experience is love. And experience itself.

      I believe this- but for many men they may have to just accept to be alone- to die with no partner or hopes of a family. And regardless of what they do it is this- and the rest- including this- might very well be only a cope for the unfortunate

    Thanks for this video bro , I really enjoyed it. It was always something i needed to hear. Im 16 months clean from heroin, and I've been holding on to alot of shameband self hatred. This in turn lead to me projecting on to others.

      Thank you my friend, I'm intending this channel to be more direct, spiritual insights and AM to be the more culturally focussed stuff, along with more men's development.
      As you may have been able to tell over the years, the former is where I find myself being drawn to more and more, although I guess that's the way as we age.

    I have a question. How do males and females bond with each other? I don't see how men and women can bond (especially romantically) with each other. Men and women think very differently from each other. It seems like it's impossible for men and women to emotionally connect with each other.
    Women do emotionally connect with other women, better than men do. Women can build incredible friendships and become very close to each other in a way men can't bond, and science shows that women can bond very well with each other. Generally, women are even more social than men are. After something bad happens, a woman quickly rushes to talk to all of her female friends to get support, whereas a man can isolate himself and grief alone.

    Lovely insight, I’m meditating myself and it’s helping with connecting to deeper levels. Can relate with these perspectives. If all the money in the world would be so good, why there is so much misery amongst the ‘rich’? Don’t get me wrong, it can help with reaching to freedom, which gives ‘opportunity’ being able to connect better.

    I'm fine with total peace, and I have long periods where I feel I have it. Until I meet a very attractive woman. Then, as much as I might try to philosophise around it there's an undeniable and irrepressible force to fulfil my desires. It feels real beyond anything that could be argued or explained to me religiously or philosophically because it lies deeper than language. Although I try and largely succeed in controlling it and behave with grace and humility as much as I can, I don't think it's a completely benign force - in the way it's hard to argue a lion ripping apart a baby Gazelle is benign - and it leaves me sceptical about messages of peace and universal love. But I'd love to be proven wrong, I like the way you approach this and I'll keep watching.

      I hear you man, lust, or attraction to women, is the single most powerful force man can face. It's how Adam was corrupted after all.
      It's a great thing you can acknowledge the depth of it and the big questions. There are no simple answers as the only person who can ultimately find the answers is you as you embrace the challenge. Others can help though.
      One simple practice to start when you see a beautiful woman is to pray for her in your mind. Pray to see her as a person, as happy one day, and her soul at peace.

    Is it really possible for people to achieve contentment? I don't think the mind wants that because even if we live in heaven, we ironically find ways to sabotage it. And I don't think that's the product of advertising

    • @RichardJoyYT
      @RichardJoyYT  2 місяці тому +4

      Yes, that's true, but your implication is that contentment includes living from the mind, which is the path of modernity and psychologised man - what I'm talking to is the classic spiritual and religious 'nondual' pointing, which in modern terms could be described as something like 'overcoming the mind/ego to rest in Being/Consciousness'

  • @Luke-ei2yv

    Contentment is not it. Get it, then likely other things will show as more desirable

    i understand your perspective & it is true.. however, will you be at "peace" if something happens to your children?

    • @RichardJoyYT
      @RichardJoyYT  2 місяці тому +1

      Great question. You would be in external pain and noble suffering for some time, yet the root peace of God can never be destroyed (as it is 'beyond the world').
      There are many biblical stories and otherwise of great pain and suffering in life, including the loss of a child, for most of us, great pain is part of life.
      Yet far from such experiences driving us away from the peace and love of God, it is the peace and love of God that can drive us through such experiences without getting totally lost.
      Further, even in death, the spirit does not die (at least in Christian understanding) so in prayer we can commune with God and our loved ones in His Being through which we all have life in birth and in death.
