I worked for a company that did water damage emergency services. I practically lived in people's basements and I can tell you that secret rooms aren't really that uncommon. The most mysterious thing about it, to me, is the amount of people who lived in these houses sometimes for decades and had no idea the rooms existed until we'd point it out.
I don't think the black mold one was scary, but instead props to the previous owner for alerting the new owners about the black mold problem and kept their children safe. Maybe the "secret room" wasn't so secret at all and the previous owner was confident that the new owners would eventually found it and thought maybe it would be fun if he left a secret note in the secret room.

I worked for a company that did water damage emergency services. I practically lived in people's basements and I can tell you that secret rooms aren't really that uncommon. The most mysterious thing about it, to me, is the amount of people who lived in these houses sometimes for decades and had no idea the rooms existed until we'd point it out.

I don't think the black mold one was scary, but instead props to the previous owner for alerting the new owners about the black mold problem and kept their children safe. Maybe the "secret room" wasn't so secret at all and the previous owner was confident that the new owners would eventually found it and thought maybe it would be fun if he left a secret note in the secret room.
