Wait, so you’ve got two of the most capable off-road rigs you can get and… drive them up a dirt road that a Honda Ridgeline could easily handle? Say it ain’t so, TFL…

Haven't watched a TFL video in a while and I decided to watch this because of the two vehicles involved. Not that I am in the market I just wanted to see what they could do. Having watched the video I still have no idea what either vehicle is truly capable of and I now remember why I don't watch TFL videos much anymore.

    • @2pi628
      @2pi628 2 роки тому +5

It's not just because you're an old timer. It's because a N/A V8 is superior. Especially where durability is a concern. Those high horse powered low displacement engines that they are putting in the Broncos are just one heat soak away from a blown head gasket, cracked heads, or worse. Everyone knows that heat kills, and with these engines Ford should have made the Raptor heat extraction hoods standard on all of them. Sadly the new Broncos will not be legacy vehicles like the old broncos. They are disposable. It won't be too long before we see the engines, trannies, and transfer cases ripped out and replaced with proven equipment. NP205's, Turbo 400's, and pushrod 5.0's with Holly EFI running the show.

Ah man Tommy, love your videos usually, but this was disappointing. I thought you guys were going to go up Radical Hill (altho I wouldn’t recommend that with the width of the raptor). Webster is too easy for those vehicles and most of us know the breakdown of the differences of those two. You know we all want to see the bronco raptor vs recon 392 actually wheeling and that’s what the thumbnail makes us think we’re getting. Still, your videos are great so this is just constructive feedback because I’m disappointed, but secreting hoping you’ll reply that you were heading to red cone for video and it’s coming!

sorry to bug... this is Webster Pass? i've done Red Cone... didn't come down Webster. came back through Keystone. for some reason i've heard Webster is somewhat hard... but now i'm guessing some say that due to how narrow the road gets at points and the shelf road. we saw a shit ton of side by sides heading down that road. i am a subscriber to your account as well. info is much appreciated!

@@hzeat This is Webster Pass, north side. I’ve been hearing people say that too and when I ran it recently, expected it to be severely rutted out. It wasn’t. My guess is people are accidentally getting on radical hill which is difficult. Handcart gulch, the south side of Webster Pass has more of a pucker factor due to a spot on the shelf road that is eroded tho. Both sides of Webster are easy trails though… I didn’t use 4WD low anywhere on this. It’s very pretty tho.

My experience owning a 392 and now owning a bronco raptor, for me the decision was absolute comfort, both are extremely fun to drive, in regards to the size of the bronco I’m used to driving big vehicles 1 ton trucks modified jeeps with 40 inch tires and wider axles etc., Once you get a little bit of saddle time in the bronco raptor it does not feel big, for me the big difference is when I’m backing up on a tight trail the visibility is not as good as the jeep, other than that it comes down to your personal preference but if you want comfort I definitely recommend bronco raptor, you cannot beat the sound of the hemi and the fun factor but then again bronco raptor every time I see railroad tracks driving down the road I jump on it it’s so much fun to go fast over bumps and off roading is amazing, If your rock crawling definitely I feel the jeep is better but the bronco raptor is more than capable, for someone like myself who does more overland and towing a modified teardrop trailer bronco has been great but also the 392 was great.

Both are very attractive off pavement focused trucks, and yes I’ll readily admit that the gladiator would be better off-road, however, most of my driving is commuting on 2 lane curvy highways to work where the IFS is way nicer.
Not to mention my version of off road is exploring forestry service roads & similar trails. 4 high is usually all I need, though the ability in the frontier to go 4 low with a locking rear diff means anything in the trails I go to is zero problems even with non aggressive all terrains.

I know this is a little selfish, but all the judging of Jeep vs Bronco aside. I love that the Jeep color, (which I don’t care for. Ok a little judging.) is named Tuscadero. As in ‘Pinky Tuscadero’ from ‘Happy Days’, (under 40? It was a TV show.), my Uncle Gary’s show.

@@dalejones4322 Pointless comment. If I asked you what an acceptable price for an off-road vehicle would be, any amount you could say is too expensive to someone and/or a ridiculously low number for someone else. Plenty of people off road in $100k+ rigs, rendering your comment unnecessary self aggrandizing.

@@mechmat12345 I started my comment by saying "To me" to make sure people knew it was my opinion. It's funny you took the time to respond to what you call a pointless comment. The point of my comment was these vehicles would be too expensive for ME to off-road. No need to insult me and tell me that I think I am some sort of authority. They ask us to tell them what we think in the comments. Right?

Doesn't Jeep offer Fox shocks standard? I just bought a Bronco, but I guess the shocks for Jeep might not have been Fox for that model year? I did drive a Gladiator which I loved, but I still am very happy about the Bronco, which is good because I won't get it for many months.

As an owner of both the 2.0 XR and 392 XR, the 392 XR does *********NOT********** get better gas mileage. It's not even close!!!! Just tossing this out there so people aren't misled.
Avg mpg on 392 XR (mix of highway/city): 9.5 mpg
Avg mpg on 2.0 XR (mix of highway/city): 17.5 mpg
I will say I tend to be more in the pedal on the 392 -- but even so, city to city, highway to highway -- grandma driving, it's still not close.
Love my 392, though, and next will be getting full suspension, 37's, skids etc. Did great stock in Moab with just a spacer lift and some temporary tires. The 4.56's really help. But if I'm going camping or something like that, i'll take the 2.0 for the range.

I run stock f250 rims with a bias ply looking tire but I also have my street tire set for long road trips 5 speed manual and 3:73 gears. I usually run 55mph-65mph best mpg is between those 2 even with all the lift and stuff I lost like I believe almost 100 pounds maybe more idk. I get 23.5 mpg with my aggressive tires at 65mph with my street tires ive almost hit 30 mpg a few times.

The seats can simultaneously be the worst car seats on the planet and not enough to personally bother you. I've got a ton of seat time on road trips in a Wrangler and it's the least comfortable vehicle I've ever been in outside of commercial trucks.
