I am so glad I came across your videos. I had been considering converting but stopped my journey because I had a lot of questions that other Muslims didn’t seem comfortable answering. Thank you so much!
Is not a good idea to study and interpret the Qur'an by yourself as Allah have sent a prophet to clarify it (prophet Muhammad pbh) , saying that the prayer is not something phisical is a lie as the majority of scholars have approved of that and by many many hadith we can derive that ourselves ,and here we are talking about scholars not someone that one day decided to study the Deen as he pleases or interpret the Qur'an by himself but this is knowledg from the prophet studying the seerah ,the interpretations of the companions ec and by the way a Pearson can understand this by reading the Qur'an itself some verser are clear regarding the fact that Salah is something that you do
@@bintab-nh2zg so you're saying that we need to become a scholar to approve something? then I'd sign right away so I could approve of this idea! *sarcasm

@@AlMosesPhDI want to ask you are you scholar and yes you need to be scholar to give fatwas and also when the Quran talks about salatul fajr and salutul isha it states in many ayat that Bowing is required and also when it talks about Muslims being in masjid to pray are you misguided or is the Quran wrong and also when it talks about masjid al aqua what do we do there avoid zina? And also when it talks about leaving off trade and going to salutul jummah when the adhan is called is that when they call the adhan spiritually or what I’m confused? And when it states in the Quran to go masjid al haram in Mekkah and to do piligramage is that also spiritually one thing I would say is actually Wallahi read the Quran while it’s open not random snippets you see on Facebook what you are doing here is misguiding many young muslims because you realise anyone that rejects the salah has left the fold of Islam But anyway stop misguiding people and learn the true deen of Allah not the deen of satant
Thank you for this. I am very spiritual and feel connected to God. Ritual prayer was forced upon me and I never felt connected to God. It was more of an obligation and felt like a burden.

Thank you for this video and the others you have made. I recently read the Qur'an and as much as I loved reading it, I had a lot of questions. This answers one of them. It's almost as if there are tests of blind faith found throughout.
Islam will return as it was in the beggining, a strange thing compared to what was being practiced at the time , and when it returns give glad tidings to the strangers
Interesting and thought-provoking. Moses, do you have any plans to write an English translation of the Quran, incorporating your insights and interpretations? That would be incredibly helpful. Thank you so much :)
there are many meaning of salat one of them is connection relationship, and other meaning together with the word Iqamat assalat, meaning the ritualic physical movement of prayer... this prayer is called sha'air in the Quran meaning symbols and they represent physical orderly action to connect to God.... like the ritual in the military where the symbol to address the senior officer is by saluting...
Great work brother. In the same vein, there are many researchers whom have finally arrive at this conclusion that the ritual salah that many of the Muslims who are practising in large numbers, is borrowed from the Zoroastrian’s ritual. This fact is completely a shocking indeed. I am now in the frequency that Allah guides those whom seek His guidance. You have done a great work on this line. Shuaib ( Sri Lankan - Living in Dubai)
Is it possible to share the research you mentioned? Logically, any similarities do not negate the validity of ritual prayers. Perhaps Zoroastrianism, regardless of its current status today, was founded by a real prophet. After all not every prophet was mentioned in the Qur'an.

If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance" People who lived with, followed, loved and learned from the Messenger(SAS) have relayed what they saw and were taught. The Prophet(SAS) taught many things that no other person knew of. His(SAS) instructions on hygiene are still being analyzed to this day. WHO are you to question what the Prophet(SAS) was taught. You are absolutely right 😢 I had these questions for years and I couldn’t ask any question because they were scared me for long time to accept and believe 😢 I really needed that , thank you sooooo much ❤
Thank you for the video. According to 4/103, salat is decreed on believers at certain times. Quran mentions salatil-işa and salatil-fecr. What do you think believers have to do in those times?
13:35 The Aya is describing the hypocrites.. Then stated that when they "get up" "stand up" or as you put it "qamoo" without translating or explaining the meanig of the word "qamoo"!! The word "qamoo" in Arabic it is an actions for example when Allah used "qawamoon ala alnesa" الرجال قوامون على النساء بما فضل Which means that men have to take care of wives Also, the word "qamoon" in the Aya at 13:35 came after "showing off infront of people" which require actions to showing off But you know what Forget what I said and let me ask you When Allah commanded the Prophet and his companions to pary whether it is a series of body movements or not, Did they obeyed Allah and paryed as Allah wanted them to pray or not? If yes, HOW?
'Men' are to take care of 'wives'? Brother, read up on that ayah. Watch the 'Quran and Aurat' series. Open the Quran, watch the Salat series and take notes.
@@AlMosesPhD Bro The word "qamoon" in Arabic involves action not spiritual matter Any way why didn't you answer my simple question Did Prophet Mohammed and his companions obey Allah and pary as commanded to them or not? How did they perform it?
Salam. 1 question as ive noticed you didnt cover the ayahs in sura al isra from 78-81. how would you explain when it says to aqeem the salah from the declining of the sun to sunset and so on.. the word for nafl is in there also denoting the nafl prayers i assume. how would you explain this if you havent already? ive watched the whole playlist on salah but havent noticed you touch on this particular ayah. thanks.
Peace, May I ask, how would you counter the argument that the sunna existed before Hadith was recorded, and it is from this sunna that we get the ritual of prayer from? For instance, the prayer comes from how it was practiced in Madinah. This ritual predates the Hadith texted. Peace
So every Muslim that prays salah is doing it wrong? Fajr, dhur, asr, maghrib, isha is all Wrong? The imams leading the prayers in the masjid and the kaaba wrong? I’m confused here
Your explanations are loud & clear. But let Allah account for my understanding. I am from philippines, but seems I am the only follower of the Qur-an. But this couldnt change my belief. I am only confused of Ritual & not ritual salat. Based from ritual definition, I am doing ritual salat & proven by the many verses in the Qur-an. Inspite of ur so many detailed explanations, still I dont know how how to perform the not ritual. Although I havent finished listening to all ur vedios. InshaAllah I can finish it today.
During Salat, Why do they greet the Prophet (S) as if he were sitting right in front of us? Salat is supposed to neither loud or too soft but a middle tone is advised. Why do we then go through Salat quietly during two Salats in the Masjid and during all at home? We are not supposed to attend Salat if our minds are messed up and we don’t know what we are saying. Other than Arabs most Muslims recite memorized verses of the Quran and not even aware what they mean! Seems to me during the life of the Prophet, Salat meetings were held where Quran would be shared. In those days they did not have printed Qurans all over besides Quran was being revealed in stages and shared with the community. The Salat meetings of unbelievers were described as such where whistling and clapping was done (having no substance)

The main point of prayer is reciting the quran. Importantly to know and understand that. Rest is just exercise and ritual, and also, if one reads the Quran and don't know what is reading, the prayer is pointless, of no use. Salah means commitment also.
@@GloballyIslamic Commitment to all we do. You read salah you recite the Quran. There are instructions in the Quran, as it is not just ritual. The instructions needs to be followed and committed. Hope it is understood.

Please follow the question. The question is what is Salah and not how to perform the Salah or what are the different meanings of Salah or what are the variations in the meaning of Salah. Can you please define Salah? Thanks,
5:6 When you stand up for Prayer wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads, and wash your feet up to the ankles. How could this not be for a ritual prayer?
Thank you for the videos. My understanding of your explanation of these quranic concepts is that they are just concepts. Lack of examples of how they will be put in use and implemented leads to more confusion than clarification what they really are.
Yes, ruku & sijda does not mean only Physical bowing and prostration. I totally agree with you that the original meaning of ruku and sijda is submission to Allah. So, Physical bowing and prostration is not for everyone else. As-Salah means two ways of connection (Mental and physical) by submitting oneself through Mental and physical Ruku and Sijda are only for humans. Because Allah knows very well that there are some people who refuse to bow and prostrate both mentally and physically because of pride. So, is it not better for us to follow the teaching of Allah & His Prophet also?
Good work. Dhikr means Reminder, Admonition and it is the Quran/Reading of Allah/The Absolute Authority and of course Salat is NOT a prayer/to ask, but the connection between the Quran, Allah and the people. Connection is a relationship in which a person or thing is linked or associated with something else and a means or channel of communication and the Book of the Quran is the Connection that connects us. Al-Quran/The Reading 29:45 ut'lu mā ūḥiya ilayka mina l-kitābi wa-aqimi l-ṣalata inna l-ṣalata tanhā ʿani l-faḥshāi wal-munkari waladhik'ru l-lahi akbaru wal-lahu yaʿlamu mā taṣnaʿūna Thou follow what He was revealed to thee from of the Book, and thou observe, stand upright and keep straight to the connection; indeed, to the connection prevents from the excessiveness and the disliked, and surely Reminder Admonition of Allah/The Absolute Authority is greater; and Allah/The Absolute Authority He knows what you are performing.
Assalamun A'laikum Sir. As a convert to Islam and having experienced marked changes in my life due to performing salaah/rituals, let me pose these two questions: 1) I didn't hear you, during the entire presention, mentioning how prophet Muhammad did his salaah/connection for simple layman to know and follow. One need to note that Islam was a new concept to those Arbs in prophet's time, and the then converts were not expected to descern the meaning of the quran unless some explanation/guidance from the prophet was provided. 2) Ever since I started performing that ritual salaah there're marked changes in my life. The level of contentment and steady peace of mind are realities resulting from ritual prayers. The question then is are those rituals not providing an atmosphere/condition to establish that connection with Allah? Hope for an answer Insha Allah.
Salamun alaikum 1) I will talk about this disconnect in the end of the series 2) If you find this form useful to connect with Allah and it brings other benefits as well, absolutely keep on doing it. My only contention, based on the Quran, is that this particular form is not sacred/sanctioned by Allah. I have great empathy for your situation. My advice to you is this: stick with the Quran and use it as the criterion for whatever else gets pushed your way. ESPECIALLY if you are a woman
@@AlMosesPhD Assalamun A'laikum For the start I'm a man. To suggest that I stick to reading the Quran is not helpful, given that I read the questionable English translations. After having watched Dr Hany's analysis and interpretation of the Quran, I now find it hard to trust the English versions I'm supposed to use. You also highlighted some errors of some of the translator where you explained Aqimu Salah. Such being the case then, I as a new Muslim, is left to despair, be doubtful and dejected towards what was really life changing experience. Although I've undertaken to study Arabic with the sole objective of reading the Quran in its original language. In the interim some provision to assist the likes of me should be available. The question is are you then going to provide some form of guidance for those that find themselves in my position? I must state that the arguments you put forward for your case are plausible beyond reproach.
@@man.g2475 SA, I understand what you're saying. If it helps, remember that Allah is the best of judges and knows our weaknesses / challenges we face. Issues with translations are NOT your problem. Islam was not a new concept to the Arabs at the time of Muhammad … the religions and prophets of Judaism and Christianity were well known there were even Jewish tribes living among the Arabs who neighbored the Quraysh and they regularly traded with Jewish and Christian merchants in addition to living among polytheists. You are factually and historically incorrect.
Can you articulate the meaning of (two way) "connections". Is it zikr, as by way of reciting one of Allah's isms as some of the sufis do? But they do not necessarily abandon the 'conventional namaz, as far as I know..
Assalammualaikum. Brother please enlighten me on the part nusuki in the verse "inna solati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi rabbil alameen". We now know Salah means more towards act of associating to somebody, and what is nusuk?
SA brother Al Moses, there is another Brother Dr Hani Atchan who follows a similar path in terms of the Quran. However both of you have highlighted with evidence based knowledge how not to pray Salah( in its current commonly known guise amongst majority of Muslims(ritualistic bowing and prostrating))Can you please have the courage of your conviction and show the people how to actually perform Salah ? Obv. With evidence based knowledge or irrefutable evidence from the Quran. Forgive me if this is an unfair question. I find there are too many who point out a problem but few who provide tangible solutions. Perhaps if you have the answer you will kindly reply.
I think someone is star-struck and is hero-worshipping! Do you understand what is the definiton of knowledge? So what is "evidence based knowledge" supposed to be? If there were such a thing as "evidence based knowledge" then the opposite must also be true... but what is _"hearsay based knowledge?"_ Is it knowledge? Is a fairy tale a knowledge? Try using your own _"aqal"_ and not get carried away with hero/idol-worship. salam.

11:25 I hold the quran as the supreme authority/message of Allah (SWT) and his messengers (PBUT). That said, I recall the quran permitting “bowing with those who bow…” in The Heifer (2:43). The overall obligation being to “establish prayer”.
1. Surah al baqarah verse 238 about performing 5 obligatory prayers? 2. Read somewhere online about the 5 daily prayers was started by the mother of the Caliph Harun al Rashid, a very influential woman. 3. I AM SO CONFUSED. HELP!
Salamun Alaykum brother Moses. I've been reading Surah Maida. I wanted to know your views on ayah 57 onwards. Why is Allah asking us to respond in such a severe way? Why not just ignore people when they take it as jest? Why would the believers even call the disbelievers and the people of the book to salah? If they mocked or ridiculed the believers for calling to salah, what's the big deal? Why get so upset and tell them off like that? Can you please explain?
Dear Moses! I appreciate you for doing the service of bringing out true Quranic meanings using Quran as reference. Btw what do the lines "o you who disbelieve"(al kafiroon) mean non-peacekeepers, idol worshippers, ascribing partners to God, ? Then what do al munafique then mean?
The meaning of As-Salat is not two way connection between Allah and the subject, rather, As- Salat is an exclusivity that only Allah have. You can try to match it up with all ayat in the Qur'an that has the word Salat in it. And for the exact meaning? Try to work it out, may Allah give you all the understanding of the labels of the Qur'an, primarily if you are doing it within " The Hour".

I saw in free-minds an amazing meaning for sala when it comes to ritual sala. Sala is INTEGRITY when joined with Zaka.. Other verses like 11:114 etc are Quran revelation Session. I really agree with him. Salat is revealing the by Mohamed to his people especially believers at the two end of Nahar. Even new verses plus repetion. So it was the believers duty of that time to attend this Quran Revelation Session. That's Salah.
Salam, this is the 3rd video I have watched where it is explained what Salat really means. But how should we pray, I can't imagine that the prayer is something that we can just leave.
This is great for starting to understand core concept of salah however ONE method has been provided in the way muslims currently pray. The video makes it seem there is no basis for this (and there isnt in the quran) but it isnt totally fabricated either since its sources are reliable. If your intention is sincere and this is the way you know to connect, what more can you do. Especially if you feel the symptoms of connection after prayer as mentioned in the video. I know I do. In my opinion, as quran is meant to be for humanity there will never be a single way it will specify. A man from a village should be able to pick it up and begin learning.
@Al Moses PhD - Quran Student Everyone who is on your videos already understands that id think. His question was what does he do now, if he knows no better way to connect with God, the one he knows or has been endowed with is the best until and unless he learns otherwise. Through intention, study or reflection.
Allah says Quran is fully detailed Hadithists say no its not😮 So, normally we would believe God😊 Quran: (Some of) your people have rejected the Quran, although it is the Truth. Tell them that you are not their guardian (En’âm 6:66)
I'm interested in the use of the term system. In one verse the word الدين is mentioned which to me means the debt. This word is not mentioned in the other examples. Does this mean that الله is the system?
It cannot be that what is virtually accepted by all the sects in Islam and historically through time can now have a " new " interpretation of what is a basically a formal act of worship

Salaam Dr, this was. Really good analysis. I've seen a few of these and I've been reflecting on the topic quite a bit lately. One thing I can't seem to get over is how this concept hasn't enticed more speculation over the centuries since the establishment of the ritual. While I believe secular scholarship already seems to be leaning in the direction that the current popular ritual has mixture of features borrowed from pre-Quranic traditions, they still seem to assume the word means prayer, while studying the Quran gives me the impression it means much more than merely "prayer", at least the word is commonly understood in English. I have a feeling there will be more to come out in terms of the history, though I'll be checking out your whole series in my continued reflection!

If prayer wasn't a ritual at the beginning, then how did we get this ritual that all Muslims perform? If, at the time, Muslims didn't perform their prayer as a ritual like today and someone changed that to a physical and there was no objection or if there was an objection how did they allow it to change, this is where I have doubts. I think there is a possibility that there is some form of ritual in prayer, but what matters more in the end is how good of connection do you have with God and are you a good person, not doing what God prohibited from you, being grateful to God, and so on.

Meaning of salat koran alone: Salat means "to follow something closely/obligation/duty" God designed the Quran in such a way that it explains the meanings of certain words itself: "For he did not ACKNOWLEDGE nor did he SALLAA (صلّيٰ) But he DENIED and TURNED AWAY". (75:31-32) TO ACKNOWLEDGE ---> TO DENY TO DO SALLAA ---> TO TURN AWAY. So the opposite of 'turning away' should be the meaning of 'sallaa' or 'salat' which is certainly to follow closely/to make it an obligation or duty. God says in the Quran that we should 'UPHOLD (Aqimuu/اقيموا) the Salat'. To 'uphold' something cannot be simply to do a ritual prayer, it is to keep something steady/alive. The word 'aqimuu al ...' besides 'aqimuu al-Salat' occurs in 2 other instances as far as I've found: ● "...You shall UPHOLD this deen (Aqimuu al-Deen/اقيموا الدين), and do not divide in it..." (42:13) ● UPHOLD the weight (Aqimuu al-Vazn/اقيموا الوزن) with equity, and do not fall short in the balance. (55:9) And lastly as it should normally be translated: ● "And you shall UPHOLD the Salaat (Aqimuu al-Salat/اقيموا الصلوٰة), and be in prudent fear; and to Him you will be gathered." (6:72) So God wants us to uphold our obligations/duties/close followings of him/the messenger/the message in the broader context: "As for those who ADHERE TO THE BOOK and UPHOLD THE SALAT ; We will not waste the reward of the reformers. (7:170) BONUS - Even the usage in the hadith books of the sunnis proof the meaning of salat/sallaa: Musnad Ahmad: 895 Book: 5 Hadith: 324 Look what word is being used there: The Prophet (ﷺ) came first, FOLLOWED ( SALLAA ) by Abu Bakr, and the third omar
I understand that you try to explain that Salat is not what traditional muslims believe it is. But when I read your explanation I don't really understand what Salat is supposed to mean. To not turn away ok.. But why is Salat supposed to be at specific Times? Do you need to not turn away at specific times of the day? And how could the prophet shorten his prayer during the war time? How could he shorten the Salat while he was trying not to turn away? sura 4.103 When the prayers are over, remember Allah-whether you are standing, sitting, or lying down. But when you are secure, establish regular prayers. Indeed, performing prayers is a duty on the believers at the appointed times. I don't know but maybe people should consider Salat as Ritual prayer as well. I could agree it could have various meanings. But what are Salat at specific times at the day. For example how do you not turn away at the time of fajr or Night when you do Salat? That are things you should explain. For me someone who has no clue, I need to know what Salat really is. Beating around the Bush doesn't help me. Iam not against Quran alone people but I need more explanation :)

there are many meaning of salat one of them is connection relationship, and other meaning together with the word Iqamat assalat, meaning the ritualic physical movement of prayer... this prayer is called sha'air in the Quran meaning symbols and they represent physical orderly action to connect to God.... like the ritual in the military where the symbol to address the senior officer is by saluting...

Logically, any similarities do not negate the validity of ritual prayers. Perhaps Zoroastrianism, regardless of its current status today, was founded by a real prophet. After all not every prophet was mentioned in the Qur'an.

13:35 The Aya is describing the hypocrites.. Then stated that when they "get up" "stand up" or as you put it "qamoo" without translating or explaining the meanig of the word "qamoo"!!
The word "qamoo" in Arabic it is an actions for example when Allah used
"qawamoon ala alnesa" الرجال قوامون على النساء بما فضل
Which means that men have to take care of wives
Also, the word "qamoon" in the Aya at 13:35 came after "showing off infront of people" which require actions to showing off

Salaam mualeikoem question what is the right way of 2 way connection

Dhikr means Reminder, Admonition and it is the Quran/Reading of Allah/The Absolute Authority and of course Salat is NOT a prayer/to ask, but the connection between the Quran, Allah and the people.
Connection is a relationship in which a person or thing is linked or associated with something else and a means or channel of communication and the Book of the Quran is the Connection that connects us.

Assalamun A'laikum Sir. As a convert to Islam and having experienced marked changes in my life due to performing salaah/rituals, let me pose these two questions:
1) I didn't hear you, during the entire presention, mentioning how prophet Muhammad did his salaah/connection for simple layman to know and follow.
Salamun alaikum
1) I will talk about this disconnect in the end of the series
2) If you find this form useful to connect with Allah and it brings other benefits as well, absolutely keep on doing it. My only contention, based on the Quran, is that this particular form is not sacred/sanctioned by Allah.

Although I've undertaken to study Arabic with the sole objective of reading the Quran in its original language. In the interim some provision to assist the likes of me should be available. Assalammualaikum. Brother please enlighten me on the part nusuki in the verse "inna solati wa nusuki wa mahyaya wa mamati lillahi rabbil alameen". We now know Salah means more towards act of associating to somebody, and what is nusuk?

Nusuk = soon in the hajj video
Omg, this another topic i need to know.
SA
It's a fair observation.
Have you seen the rest of the series? I'd like to think you won't be asking me this question once you do.
I think someone is star-struck and is hero-worshipping!
Do you understand what is the definiton of knowledge?
So what is "evidence based knowledge" supposed to be?
If there were such a thing as "evidence based knowledge" then the opposite must also be true... but what is _"hearsay based knowledge?"_
Is it knowledge?
Is a fairy tale a knowledge?
Try using your own _"aqal"_ and not get carried away with hero/idol-worship.

Dear Moses! I appreciate you for doing the service of bringing out true Quranic meanings using Quran as reference. Btw what do the lines "o you who disbelieve"(al kafiroon) mean non-peacekeepers, idol worshippers, ascribing partners to God, ? Then what do al munafique then mean?

The ma7na / shade of the term is still the same mafhoom
The meaning of As-Salat is not two way connection between Allah and the subject, rather, As- Salat is an exclusivity that only Allah have. You can try to match it up with all ayat in the Qur'an that has the word Salat in it.
And for the exact meaning? Try to work it out, may Allah give you all the understanding of the labels of the Qur'an, primarily if you are doing it within " The Hour".

I really agree with him. Salat is revealing the by Mohamed to his people especially believers at the two end of Nahar. Even new verses plus repetion. So it was the believers duty of that time to attend this Quran Revelation Session. That's Salah.
Please explain 3/31 and 3/32
Salam, this is the 3rd video I have watched where it is explained what Salat really means. But how should we pray, I can't imagine that the prayer is something that we can just leave.
Salam, please continue with the series
This is great for starting to understand core concept of salah however ONE method has been provided in the way muslims currently pray. The video makes it seem there is no basis for this (and there isnt in the quran) but it isnt totally fabricated either since its sources are reliable. If your intention is sincere and this is the way you know to connect, what more can you do. Especially if you feel the symptoms of connection after prayer as mentioned in the video. I know I do.
In my opinion, as quran is meant to be for humanity there will never be a single way it will specify. A man from a village should be able to pick it up and begin learning.
@@Sullytaan A way is not the point. The issue is when 'a' way is pushed as 'the' only religious way sanctioned by God.

Thank you, I always was wondering what to say in prayer at the end.
Who are الْمُصَلِّينَ the Musalleen ?
MEANING OF THE WORD SALAT :
attain, reach, connect, join, adhere, bond, commitment, apply, make close, to continue, unite, to bring into, maintain close relation, combine, union, establish a connection, transfer, convey, to deliver, transmit, communicate, to correspond, to align, to conduct, act as a conductor, to persist, persevere, belong, to make untiring efforts, confer upon (have discussions; exchange opinions)

70:34 *And (Al Musalleen are) those who, on their SALAT صَلَاتِهِمْ keep a guard,*
70:35 such people will receive due honor in Paradise.
70:36 What is wrong with the disbelievers who roam around you,
70:37 On the right and on the left, (in) separate groups?
70:38 Does every one of them desire to enter the bountiful Paradise?
70:39 By no means! Indeed, We have created them from what they know.
70:40 No! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and Wests that We have the power
70:41 to replace them by a better people and none can challenge Our power.

70:43 the Day when they rush out of their graves as if racing towards a signpost,

Assalamualaikum brother how to worship AllAh??
SA, continue with the series brother
You didnt mention what quranic Salat really is...
according to your understanding
Best to keep up with the series for your answer
Meaning of salat koran alone:
Salat means "to follow something closely/obligation/duty"
God designed the Quran in such a way that it explains the meanings of certain words itself:
"For he did not ACKNOWLEDGE nor did he SALLAA (صلّيٰ)
But he DENIED and TURNED AWAY". (75:31-32)
TO ACKNOWLEDGE ---> TO DENY
TO DO SALLAA ---> TO TURN AWAY.
The word 'aqimuu al ...' besides 'aqimuu al-Salat' occurs in 2 other instances as far as I've found:
● "...You shall UPHOLD this deen (Aqimuu al-Deen/اقيموا الدين), and do not divide in it..." (42:13)
● UPHOLD the weight (Aqimuu al-Vazn/اقيموا الوزن) with equity, and do not fall short in the balance. (55:9)
And lastly as it should normally be translated:
● "And you shall UPHOLD the Salaat (Aqimuu al-Salat/اقيموا الصلوٰة), and be in prudent fear; and to Him you will be gathered." (6:72)
So God wants us to uphold our obligations/duties/close followings of him/the messenger/the message in the broader context: "As for those who ADHERE TO THE BOOK and UPHOLD THE SALAT ; We will not waste the reward of the reformers. (7:170)
BONUS - Even the usage in the hadith books of the sunnis proof the meaning of salat/sallaa:
Musnad Ahmad: 895
Book: 5
Hadith: 324
Look what word is being used there:

I understand that you try to explain that Salat is not what traditional muslims believe it is. But when I read your explanation I don't really understand what Salat is supposed to mean. To not turn away ok.. But why is Salat supposed to be at specific Times? Do you need to not turn away at specific times of the day? And how could the prophet shorten his prayer during the war time? How could he shorten the Salat while he was trying not to turn away? sura 4.103
When the prayers are over, remember Allah-whether you are standing, sitting, or lying down.
