The first epistle of Peter is believed to be addressed to the faith community who were scattered and alienated from the surrounding society in the parts of Asia Minor. They were subject to hardships and persecutions because of their allegiance to Christ and hence the main emphasis of this letter is hope. Apostle Peter tries to exhort believers to live in accordance with the hope they have received through Christ. He gives practical guidance to assist in their human relationships and encourages them to endure suffering in a joyful manner for Christ’s sake. While the first letter focused more on Christian hope the second letter focussed on Christian knowledge. Peter here concentrates more on internal issues faced by the community and warns them against false teachings. Let us have a quick survey of these letters through this video.
