- We take a look at the forthcoming release from Papillon Artisan Perfumes, Bengale Rouge. The samples (one each) were sent to us for testing by Liz Moores, the perfumer.

Thanks Pete. I really think that is true; as Jo said, if you smelt it in a department store you might not be blown away by the first impression, but I think she’s aiming for people who will love with it and love it.
I blind bought it and I am blessed by one of the best resinous ambers I have tried thus far. So rich but not artificially sweet. Simply amazing.

Got the sample set for my birthday and I am blown away by the quality of every perfume in her collecton. I can't quite decide which one I love best but Bengal Rouge is a definite full bottle contender. It reminds me more of Ambre Precieux by MPeG than Shalimar. Love Love Love.

I’ve just done my first trip through the Papillon discovery set, and Bengale Rouge is easily my favourite. Difficult to describe in notes, just lovely.
Intrigued to try this. What you said about this one, that it demands that you wear it and spend time with it to appreciate it, goes for Salome as well, which I only tried recently for the first time. There's no way you could just sniff it off a paper strip.. because you would have no idea what it's really about. Only on skin it does amazing things..

Just ordered it based in a 1.5ml sample. I actually sold a bunch of other perfumes to afford it as I just love it so much more than those. I cannot wait until my fb gets here.

I've just received my sample. It's definitely on the WANT list. My skin really amps up the sandalwood. It's stunning. I had a wild tabby cat called Mimi. She came from the Hong Kong RSPCA as a kitten along with her docked tail.
Interesting, I didn’t get a huge amount of sandalwood. I can’t wait to get a full bottle and apply liberally!

Thursday 22 August. It’s out and available direct from Papillon! Supplies are apparently limited though and when these sell out the next batch will not be ready until Oct/Nov. Mine’s on its way :)

About skin and smelling it on someone else…. It smells of how delicious your leather watch strap smells, skin and leather and accumulated perfumes fr9m years of wearing! So yummy and it’s genius it’s replicated. Xxx

Fantastic review guys. I have been waiting for Liz to come out with something new for ages. I love the tobacco Rose and Anubis. Bengal Rouge sounds f****** fantastic. I really admire Liz ethics and hard work. I remember reading about how she almost gave up on perfumery. And I'm certainly glad she kept plugging along. can't wait to try this one. Actually sounds quite intriguing. The whole bed sheets and roses and all that. Thanks always for your awesome uploads :-)
Thanks! Yes, we’re big fans off her work. As we said, I think Bengals Rouge is a perfume lover’s perfume, and a real labour of love. Not going for mass appealing, no short cuts or cheap tricks.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft yeah not at mass appeal guy here. Ever since I went down the rabbit hole into the hole niche genre. 99.9% of all fragrances I detest just because they all smell the same. I just left something that's really different that somebody's going to stop and say what are you wearing.

Really like Anubis and Tobacco Rose, so very excited for this. Checking the notes listing, this looks like quite a sweet fragrance, so was just wondering if the "skin accord" here has any similarities to that in any of Francesca Bianchi's creations, where I find that to be rather dirty/sweaty/animalic, is there any similarity at all?
Pulpfragsn yes, I think there is a similarity, particularly to something like Under My Skin. Bengale Rouge doesn’t smell like UMS, but there are similarities.

Hi Guys At the risk of being boring just thank you and don't go away. Screw top wine and the smell of tomato plants which automatically reminded me of my first sniff of Interlude and finding that session on your channel and thinking you made the same noise I did and still do when I smell that. It's been less than a year but you've guided me to roses with Tobacco Rose, Sartorial and Histories 1740 which is the smell I think is just me or maybe what I imagine Monica Bellucci smells like. They make you think of beauty, music and women and if Turin's ideas of smells as vibrations rings true I am a subwoofer. Sartorial brought me to my next challenge which was a Duchaufour test. I initially balked at Jubilation because I expected something different but now I love it.The thing is with Timbuktu. I bought a 50 ml. of the aqua colored formulation from a discounter and I almost thought I got a bad one. Is it sharp, cutting, sour, bitter? What am I missing here. I really wanted to like this but is it possible i won't? Maybe sometime you can add in some guidance for someone new when trying some of these more challenging scents. Next up are Seville and Al Oudh so..... See ya
Glad you’re enjoying the journey. I’m surprised you found Timbuktu sour. I always find it incredibly invigorating. Is it the clear bottle, or the black bottle?
@@WaftsfromTheLoft It's the old clear 50 ml bottle and the liquid looks good . Do you think I'm so used to rich and dark things like Interlude and Jubilation that it is just really very different? I only spent three days with it so maybe I'll come back to it at a later time.Thanks for your reply.

Tried it today 😍 it does remind me of initial by boucheron ( by the way , such a pitty it was discontinued, that was my favorite perfume ever) and shalimar . I would say , a perfect combination of the two 😅 lovely perfume😌 i smell it and cannot believe how gifted some perfumers can be.

Thanks! I do own two Xerjoff fragrances, but I think they are very overpriced. They are catering for the lovers of luxury, rather than the lover’s of fragrance.

Could thid be a safe blind buy from this house? i can't try the samples because the shipping isnot cheap :/, but i really want to own one of her perfumes. also if i could find a perfume that inhances my skin scent that would be amazin, my skin intense XD because i love the smell of my skin, it's really nice!
I'm wary of suggesting a blind buy because this, like everything from the house, has a lot of personality. If you like our description, you like Shalimar and you like rose then go for it.
