Great video! Glad to see the map my name is in still exists! My friend Qwiggalo made that map. During that time we hung out on the Half-Life Radio ventrilo server. @@M0D776 my man Snakez is giga mind after all, I think he even spreaded the rumor about how JBMod Steam Version was developed with Garry himself and people believed that for a while.
Garry's Mod has been, and will forever be, a large piece in not only video game history but internet history of youtube. From wacky little sfms like The Idiot Box skits, tutorials of how to make submarines, new rp servers. It was a wild and fun ride and while it's changed a lot over the years, gmod will forever hold a place in our hearts that cannot be replaced due to the good memories we've built with it. Even if a game came out and was built up to a similar height and exceeded everything before, gmod will still forever be a place we all love. Even if the error scripts still haunt us.
When I started playing Garry's Mod at a young age, I just played and played till I stopped. I went on a hiatus till I came back in 2021. And holy Christ the culture is totally different and I found myself with a frown on my face looking at how zoomer culture dominated it now alongside the very accurate description of Gmod multiplayer. Look forward to JBmod to relive my nostalgia memories.
I am a man who has sunk over 3800 hours into gmod(on just this account) since 2015, i didn't grow up during the classic gmod days as when those were happening i was between the ages of 4-8, I love gmod and it's history, hell it's my favorite game because of videos like Vanoss's, Jack's, old Venturiantale's, and Mark's. For me it was never about servers you could join, it was always the adventures you'd go on or just goofing off with your friends. While Gmod has been overpopulated with Nextbots, fnaf, and other popular trends, there are still people who take genuine time and care for a game they love. So while I can see the appeal of going to JBmod and messing around a bit like the good ol days that really doesn't matter to me at least. That's my 2 cents you can agree or disagree but hey I'm just a guy who likes Gmod(One look at my channel and you can tell)
I'd totally love to see a new, unique take on sandbox modding come from JBMod's release. Seeing how barebones it is now, I still can't help but see something that people could *really* build on top of if it's given some love. Seems like a neat blast from the past regardless!
I know that some people don’t really like what GMod has become these days but for me I still have nostalgia from the first few times of playing this game and there’s some legitimate good mods that can give you that classic GMod experience and not just an entirety of Nextbot mods (at least for me). I am interested to see what JBMod will present in the future for some people who may have fallen out of love with GMod and that the two can coexist without this debate that’s been going on for almost a decade. But for now I’m still loving GMod.
I wanna see JBmod succeed. It'd be hilarious to have a rivalry between it and Gmod, plus the mod in a way, is new. There's history just waiting to be made. (Personal Note: I think it'd be really cool if someone made a War of the Servers type thing with it)
I definitely agree that it would be cool to see the "classic" Gmod community latch onto this game. It really does feel like a different time in the history of Source mods - something a lot more humble and homegrown. There's nostalgic appeal to that.
7:17 i mean there's a good flood community server that still exists right now (dear god they were online since like 2013) but that's literally the only flood server which is quite sad :( i would love to see back the old gmod racers where you could upgrade your car and do cool cosmetics on them
Never even used JB mod but seeing it is giving me hardcore nostalgia for old Gmod. I'd love for it to get some support and proper multiplayer going, Gmod went from one of my most played games to something I play once or twice a year with how awful the multiplayer community has become and the insane monetization on servers.
People still play mario nes, and there are enough people who want to relive old mmos that they rebuild their server structure from scratch. Doesn't mean something cannot surpass gmod. Though it will be unlikely for several years.
@@amentco8445 you sure cuz the png nextbots could probably still make gmod a popular game although it will probably die somewhere around 2040 or 2041 I'll still remember these nostalgia moments.
1:14 Hey that's me! The dumbass from that tweet! So uh, I will admit I had made that tweet no major prior information to the true story of JBmod, so this tweet was mainly based off of knowledge from one single Gmod Iceberg video and that's it. I'm glad to say I've learned from my ways and see JBmod much more favorably
hey its ok dude! we all say silly things in the past! aslong as your correcting your self with the new information its all good! mistakes like this happen all the time :3
This is reminding me a lot of the VRChat vs ChilloutVR stuff. Both platforms are really nice, and CVR is a lot like early Gmod. A basic prop system, vehicles, and a sandbox approach to social VR.
I've never used GMod, though I do enjoy creators like Eltorro64Rus, STBlackST, and other such folks who use it (and Source Filmmaker) to create amusing, often nonsensical pseudo-stop motion videos of the Team Fortress 2 characters doing stuff that probably shouldn't amuse a man my age.
Personally my gripe with gmod is moreso the problems with source, and the problems with the current devs. Not-so-recently the single person who ported source/gmod to x86-64 with CEF so it could run a lot faster left the community to pursue other things in life, the current developer, Rubat hasn't merged this branch with main, creating minor, but noticeable differences between players when joining servers. New stuff really isn't being added to gmod, it would be really nice if they merged x86-64, fixed some of the bugs with current things (there's a list on the wiki iirc). But I suppose gmod isn't as good as it was in the past, I think realistically, it peaked 2016, which is a shame since I've been with the game for a long time.
I'd love to experience old-school GMOD source days if JBMOD truly gets off the ground, largely for all of the 4K hours I spent on GMOD I never really bothered with the multiplayer but would only hear of the glory days of old school GMOD. I pretty much grew up on the labors of that era too, old school machinima creators like DasBoSchitt and Kitty: so, getting to actually experience the engine in a state like it was so many years ago feels more like a rite of passage that I missed when I was younger.
Honestly if they are just going to compete to make the same game better than the other they should just collaborate, makes sense as if they both are working hard then if they worked together they could make something awesome.

Source modding before 2017 id say was amazing. so many great ideas, and so many popular games. its definitely slowed down.
Honestly playing JBMod made me feel like I was playing GMod for the first time again. No addons, no custom maps, just making silly things out of the base props on the single map the game has. It's broken and inconsistent as hell, but I loved it.
I never played this back in the day, but I tried this yesterday and it’s certainly a real nostalgia time capsule. Reminds me of simpler times. 😊
Great video!
Glad to see the map my name is in still exists! My friend Qwiggalo made that map. During that time we hung out on the Half-Life Radio ventrilo server. All those names in that map, good friends of mine. Once HL Radio died, we kinda drifted apart. Guess that's what you can expect with online friends. I've always wondered what those guys are up to now.
Thanks for bringing back those memories. It means a lot!

Man GMODs golden years really lasted a long time. 2006-2015. I'm not gonna blame the playerbase or the fact that all DarkRP servers are just filled with afkers... but it was definitely a really great time to play the game in that time period.

Same, Venturiantale got me into gmod.
90% of gmod's issues come from the community. from admin abuse to nextbot abandonware. honestly needs a purge

JBmod vs Gmod feels like a game version of the cold war
7:17 i mean there's a good flood community server that still exists right now (dear god they were online since like 2013) but that's literally the only flood server which is quite sad :(
i would love to see back the old gmod racers where you could upgrade your car and do cool cosmetics on them
JBMOD HAS EMERGED AT GATE A, FIRE THE WIREMOD SMG HORDE IMMEDIATELY, DO NOT LET IT GET TO THE POPULAR PAGE
I believe the cube map, Annebelle, and briefcase are able to be given to the player in GMod as well using the console.
"I always come back."
I do miss old gmod around the early 2010s like 2014 and I miss the old and gone game modes. I joined a JBmod server and I felt like a child again
Never even used JB mod but seeing it is giving me hardcore nostalgia for old Gmod. I'd love for it to get some support and proper multiplayer going, Gmod went from one of my most played games to something I play once or twice a year with how awful the multiplayer community has become and the insane monetization on servers.
Donate 400 usd to get custom job, vape and emote
I mean, with Garry working on S&box in Source 2, I kinda like the idea of JBMod taking over on the Source 1 side of things, honestly.
Give it time and it might be possible to have Gmod and JBMod players play together. You could have actual battles between engine communities.
I didn’t even realize this game went up on steam due to computer issues
gmod has been around to long so something tells me it will never die

This is reminding me a lot of the VRChat vs ChilloutVR stuff. Both platforms are really nice, and CVR is a lot like early Gmod. A basic prop system, vehicles, and a sandbox approach to social VR.

The fact that the humor of Garry and JB are similar, makes think that they could be good friend but instead they choose being enemies.
Maybe the real JBmod is the friends we made along the way
I was one to join servers, and it was accurate to how u described it. Being ppl to voice spam and hard crash servers
My favorite thing back on Facepunch Forums was the constant JBMod posts back in the late 2000s.
also gabe newell himself plays garry's mod so i dont know what the hell JB mod is thinking
Damn, if JBmod actually went through at the beginning, competing with Gmod, the scene would've been a lot different.
Old gmod was the best gmod. I miss old zombie survival too...
Yeah I love Gmod zombie survival, but I can only find 1 server that stays faithful to the classic ZS formula
@@CrimsonCreationAGM what’s up with the other servers? Do they add dumb mechanics that ruin the simplistic gameplay?

I'd love to experience old-school GMOD source days if JBMOD truly gets off the ground, largely for all of the 4K hours I spent on GMOD I never really bothered with the multiplayer but would only hear of the glory days of old school GMOD. I pretty much grew up on the labors of that era too, old school machinima creators like DasBoSchitt and Kitty: so, getting to actually experience the engine in a state like it was so many years ago feels more like a rite of passage that I missed when I was younger.
