River Monster Caught, Mullet LadyFish Run St Johns River
St Johns river mullet and ladyfish run September 2024. Chasing River Monsters with Garmin LiveScope Forward Facing Sonar FFS. Mostly artificial lures, Academy Sports Crazy Croaker. I cheated and used live LadyFish I caught in a castnet. Only took 3 minutes to hook a monster and took 2 hours to land. Wore thru 60 lb. mono leader at the end, but did get a catch. Crab Traps, trolling motor died, blew the 60 amp breaker. Exhausting fight.

Have you tried using steel leader? It slips into their mouths easier and allows better hook sets with artifical. Only works in dark water

Thanks for watching. No. I don’t steel leader except for kingfish. Tarpon would never bite steel leader. Even 80 lb mono scares them.
