The reasoning behind sales can be flawed. For example, I bought an iPhone XR in 2020. It’s been 4 years now, but the phone itself is 6 years old. I bought it because my esports team told me to get one as soon as possible, so I opted for a 2yearsold phone instead of the iPhone 12 or 11, which were a bit more expensive at the time. However, a sale was around the corner, just two months later. If I had waited, I could have gotten a better phone for a better price. I paid ₹58,000 for the XR, but during the sale, the iPhone 11 was about ₹45,000. Waiting would have clearly been worth it. My Xr screen shattered recently on the top left corner so I need new phone and BBD and GIS is about 2 months away so I’ll get 15/15+ So basically, what I’m saying is if you have a certain need and a sale is around the corner, and you’re not in an emergency, you should definitely wait to buy things during the sale. But I strongly agree with the point about EMIs I’ve never purchased anything on EMI and never will.

My dopamine is how much longer I can hold on to same phone by resisting my urge to buy new one. With each year passing I feel great that I able to handle same phone for one more year. By this way I can able to stay with the same phone. Honestly phone tech is saturated, no need of purchasing a new phone unless you broke existing one.
Most of the needs of 99% of people are fulfilled in a 20-40k smartphone. It's so ridiculous that so many lower middle class people are purchasing iPhones these days just to show off. I can easily purchase a flagship phone but I'm satisfied with my 35k phone because it fulfills my needs.
Im the guy who is not in the 100% i guess😂 I buy under 15k phones.!! 😅 And my income is around ... Well its damn good and family income is double that.
Investing ₹80k on iphone using for 10 years feels boring. Buying ₹25k mobile used for 3 years and replacing it with new one with new features really gives 30K savings on buying ₹25k mobile.
Bro which phone do you think will you use for 10 years? 😂 I have iphone 13, it has been 3 years. Phone is no doubt great, but battery life and performance has degraded, mean still better than many low or mid end phones but not a top tier now. So iPhone consider at max 3-4 years.
Consider tempered glass and backcase it costs around 1500(minimum). If the iphone slips then the repair cost and spare part cost more than the 10k(Minimum) . The battery has to be replaced at 40% health then again you invest in spare parts. What ever discount we get is adding into spare part cost.
Isn't smartphone's job is to help you & make you more productive? 😅 Apple is doing the exact opposite. They keep their users in shackles. @@ashuwashere2164

back when I got my first job in 2014 with 3.25 LPA I bought my first phone which was Xiomi Redmi Note 3 for 14-15k I guess.. regretted the amount of money I spent on it in next 2-3 weeks itself.. changed it to OnePlus 6T in 2018 for 35k , changed it to Samsung S21 FE for 29k in 2024 I currently draw more than 2 lacs per month take home.. still use phone less than 30k .. I feel its enough to spend as much as 30k max on a phone.. A phone does not depict my social status.
For me iPhone is durability n ruggedness. Owned 3 iPhones in last 13 years. Current one bring 6 years old. Have used Samsung n Nokia feature phones before that. They all were replaced in 1-3 years. That’s why I will always stick with iPhone. DURABLE.
True though depends on the model of other phones people get and usage too albeit apple is usually good. I got a redmi on its 4th year approx. I only had to get it repaired due to my mistake though it survived many falls with my case and tempered glass. - EG: And I got another smaller one that's functional though not smooth, but past it's 6th or 7th year as it fell into disuse after its 4th year and is used ocassionally. -PRICING: i can't say it's as good as one you got ruggedness wise but if cost of the phones isn't so big that if it lasts for 1 year less it will be a big deal. Even if it lasts 5 years and a new one is under 20k that's still just 40k in 10 yrs, vs 70+70k 1L 40k in 12 (unless one gets it at 1 lakh). And if it's out of warranty repairs are even pricier unless it's insured. -REASONS: i could get if someone gets an iPhone or another better suited phone at that price due to it giving more privacy and security or they need especially for business purposes extreme quality along with the ruggedness and they absolutely need it for their work or other purposes or they can afford it too easily and they don't wanna spend time to see which one's good or care for it albeit it still shortens lifespan. - USE CASE : eg. i needed a certain model for a task and no other phone would do it even if it had better specs, plus i prefer Androids flexibility, apps, customizability vs windows or other os. -REASONS: And I also get it if people get it out of peer pressure and social proofing as it's a hard to survive in society. Or wanting to test it out (I'd probably just watch videos or rent or get a 2nd hand in that case) etc all reasons are understandable even if some are better financial decisions than others. - PROS N CONS: Though if i purely based it on logic I'd say trying to find a good phone (iphone or other phone) suitable for ones use case, affordabilitywise using it responsibly works out well. As most phones slow down and get outdated. - EMOTIONS: and I see people hold on to their phones especially iphones when they need a new phone functionality and speed wise even if it still works. - UPGRADES: but otherwise you get to change phones if you're bored without it being unnecessary or expensive as many tech upgrades are. And there's less pain of having to think about having to replace and part with such an expensive device at the end of its life cycle. Except for people that get bored just because there's a new model. - RESEARCH: obviously it should last past 4 years atleast though so i research on which phone is good and how to actually make the phone last longer too. -IMPROVEMENTS: Before this my phones either didn't last long or weren't as smoothly functional in their 4th or 5th year. I had a nokia smartphone that lasted almost 5 yrs. And ik someone with Samsung which lasted long but they picked an outdated model and had a bad upkeep of their phone and you'll see the difference between the same model phones or brands upkeepwise.
I successfully finished my 4th year holding to one plus 7t pro. Passing year by year giving me an immence pleasure to hold it for more years. Its performance is consistent till now.
Most people use phones for the same basic things - browsing websites, watching videos, calling and texting, taking pics and maybe some gaming. ALL these things can be done on a 15k phone as well (obviously there will be some quality differences compared to flagship phones). Although manufacturers have started using low quality stuff in phones priced at 10-20k range, many phones can still comfortably last you 3-4 years - same as top-end phones. 1 high-end phone = 70k/4 = approx 17k per year. 'low-end' phone = 15k/4 = 4k per year. Do the math on your savings.
The ending was absolutely awesome! The difference between true luxury and perceived luxury was absolutely spot on! I had a dopamine hit by just listening to this!

That’s one of the best decisions taken by you in your life. I would say you can indulge a little more on your phone if you want but buying 1 lac worth iPhone is something beyond imagination. I would not even think of going beyond 20k for phone. As you said here you were planning to buy an iphone but somehow you understand that it’s not a good decision and eventually you bought 10k phone. You saved damn 90k INR. Now just think how many little things you can do with this remaining amount to improve your lifestyle, work productivity at home or in office, home decor, healthy food, some essential health treatments for your parents if needed and so on. You can do a lot more changes in your surroundings to improve your daily mood and make yourself happy and feel good.
The script has some loopholes. At 0:19 the boss says ' Didn't you buy the iPhone last year?' and at 2:38 the boss asks 'when did you buy this iPhone?' and the employee answers ' Two years back." So there is a contradiction. Boss knows his employee bought the iPhone 'last year' which the employee seemingly agreees. If he knows when he bought it, why did he asks when he bought it? And the employee justs blabbers 'two years back'.

@@saptarshichatterjee36 that is the bigger lesson and only few can understand. But they will use "iphone" on the thumbnail, caption and throughout the video. And then people call out iPhone users dumb
iPhone was earlier the pinnacle of still photos and videos. It's still the best in video taking but not in the camera dept anymore. Vivo, Xiaomi, Pixel and Samsung ( and now OnePlus is too coming) top phones can surely beat it. iPhone's battery is not good (except Pro Max and Plus). They are charging 80k for the non pro models and still not providing 120hz screen. I had a budget of iPhone 15, but bought the OnePlus 12 and it's been a fantastic experience. The cameras, battery life, screen, haptics are truly great. The only thing I like about iphone is their OS updates for long years.
95% people's needs are comfortably met with 15000 samsung phone, except heavy gamers and speciality professionals to which each purchase decision is situation dependent.
04:43 Also, don't compare current discounted value (₹70k) to MRP (₹1 lakhs). You need to check price before discount, it might be somewhere between ₹75k to ₹80k, in which case it's only ₹5k-10k discount

Great advice..... the real question is whether you actually need it or you want to show others you have it... once my brother asked me about iphone 14 because he wanted to buy it and I replied to him like if the glass broke can you replace it with atleast half of your monthly salary ? And he said he need two months salary just for the screen replacement... and I didn't gave any advice after that and he brought Samsung A33 😂 I brought S21FE in 2022 and I had no plan to change it till 2025-26 but even then I will never buy anything above 40 k

Great video as always! I was kind of waiting on numbers game what should be the ideal amount you should spend given your salary. That is always the best part.
I only watched the first 1:32 of this video and read a few comments and I can easily tell both people are just scratching the surfaces and calling it a day. iPhone is not a luxury. It is secure, easy, seamless connectivity with any other apple device (I don't own anything other than an iPhone like MacBook, Ear Pods etc but if netizens are to believe), timely updates, looong time support aur na jane kya kya. I 100% agree that iPhones are overpriced but that is only because they are the only one of their kind. No other company has beaten them till now. And hopefully Apple products are a one time purchase and you don't need shit for another 5-10 years (unless you're a type of guy shown at the beginning of video). If you call this luxury then the clean drinkable water you have is also a luxury because many parts of the world don't even have it.

I really hope all the people who buy it, who can't really afford it, see this. I too wanted to buy an iPhone ever since the iPhone came out. But always postponed it.
My obsession ended after using the iPhone 15 for 3 months. This is a lesson.. don’t buy a product if you don’t need its features. 30k- 40k phones are “more than enough” for 99% people. Actually 20k -30k phones are “enough“. I was “ok” with my 12k phone. The Americans buys it because it’s only cost 1/4 of their average salary per month. But here we spend 4X of our salary to buy an iPhone 😅. But I’m planning to use it for next 5 years. For that, it’s a quality product. And I really like the OS(ui/ux), Apple Music, Camera, design, form factor ( it’s an only 6.1 inch display, I’m not interested in bigger screens ).it’s only 60hz but it’s better than my previous (90hz) phone. The animations are good .

Funfact i even wrote my final exams on ipad
Watching this amazing video on my 2 year old S22. Looking at friends showing-off latest iphones sometimes gives me crazy cravings. But I know this is a trap. Companies launch flagship phones every year with only minute difference but claims it like huge breakthrough. But people go crazy for new devices. I agree with you on affordability clause.
There is a saying " use it until it breaks" and I'm using that same concept when buying a phone. I ask myself two questions ; - Do I really need it or I just got hyped? -Is my phone still functioning and run smoothly? If both is yes, i ain't buying a new phone If there is one yes and one no, I'll ask my self again If both are no then I'm buying a new one
The point is if u can afford it go for it.... doesn't matter if you're spending 2 lakhs on a phone.... But buying apple phones on EMI because you can't payoff the price of the phone all at once is stupid.....

Having my OP 7t pro McLaren edition since 2019. Costed about 56k while I got it. It was a flagship when i purchased and is still pretty snappy even today. For my usage, it holds up well.

Been using my mobile since 2019. So it's almost 5+ years now.
True. Buying a phone is a dopamine trigger by peer pressure of a society
US Bhai US
Oh dear Formless.....at last someone sane spoke about Phone tech saturation 🐿
Most of the needs of 99% of people are fulfilled in a 20-40k smartphone. It's so ridiculous that so many lower middle class people are purchasing iPhones these days just to show off. I can easily purchase a flagship phone but I'm satisfied with my 35k phone because it fulfills my needs.
Good
Very good.

I buy under 15k phones.!! 😅
And my income is around ...
I have iphone 13, it has been 3 years.

I bought my first phone which was Xiomi Redmi Note 3 for 14-15k I guess.. regretted the amount of money I spent on it in next 2-3 weeks itself..
changed it to OnePlus 6T in 2018 for 35k ,
changed it to Samsung S21 FE for 29k in 2024
I currently draw more than 2 lacs per month take home.. still use phone less than 30k ..
- EMOTIONS:
and I see people hold on to their phones especially iphones when they need a new phone functionality and speed wise even if it still works.
- UPGRADES:
but otherwise you get to change phones if you're bored without it being unnecessary or expensive as many tech upgrades are.
Thank you for opening my eyes, I was thinking that buying expensive stuff feels like pleasure, but after that, I feel like pressure in mind.😂😅😢

@@Annie_R18 :Well put. Thank u!
😂😂 script writing is a pressure process..

There is a saying " use it until it breaks" and I'm using that same concept when buying a phone. I ask myself two questions ;
- Do I really need it or I just got hyped?
-Is my phone still functioning and run smoothly?
If both is yes, i ain't buying a new phone
If there is one yes and one no, I'll ask my self again
If both are no then I'm buying a new one
