I have researched some on the use of aluminum threads and some people recommend wax or chapstick to lube the threads and reduce wear. So far the chapstick does seem to help a bit.
If the company responds to my email it will be here:

    Pretty nifty little device!
I wonder if a push down and turn type top would work better?

Hey Jay. My wife and I just bought 2 sundolphin Fiji 8' ss. Looking for suggestions on small lakes for beginners? Hopefully, it will be around Central M.N. but we are down for a road trip. My big question is, what is your must-have for kayaking, and why? Thanks man, love your channel!

Hey Adam and Jen! Congrats on getting a couple boats! I hope you guys have a great time out on the water. There is a great group on facebook called Kayaking Minnesota. there are so many great recommendations on there of lakes that I have never even heard of! I know someone will be able to give you a good lake in your local area. As for lake I have been on Bush Lake in Bloomington is a lake I enjoy. it has gotten really clear over the past few years and the fishing is great (most the time). Its just the right size lake for an enjoyable paddle. I am a real big fan of paddling at Lake Itasca/Itasca state park. All the lakes there are beautiful and clean. Lake Mary in the lake is a little gem that doesnt seem to get a ton of use but is a great spot to visit. On a good sunny day you can see down 15-20 feet! One other lake I like is Lake Rebecca in Hastings. Its a small lake but has great fishing and is a nice little paddle. Not much for motor boats and if there are they generally are not going fast as the lake is not that big. Sorry I dont have much for go to lakes in central MN... Lake Pomroy just out of Hinkley is a good one! Must haves for kayaking, aside from the obvious life jacket, paddles (cold water a dry suit or at least be really careful) A decent camera would be nice. It always seems there is something worth taking a picture of. Maybe a blue tooth speaker for some tunes? It really depends on what you want to do while you are out there. I hope you enjoy it, let me know how it goes!
