A once beautiful little British car until the American Markets demanded that British Leyland were to fit huge ugly bumpers, raise the ride height, turn the exhaust tail pipe downwards etc, etc.....thus making this once beautiful looking car look like an American disater.
I had a 1972 MGB, loved it! I can't believe anyone would stick $25,000.00 in one of these ugly bumpers car! It seems like a waste of money, it only worth about $14,000 to someone that has never seen the older ones!
My dad had one and absolutely loved it and it's still sitting in my moms garage. Its not nearly as in beautiful condition as this one but still kept in very good condition other then the engine I am sure after sitting in there for almost 20 years I think its time I fixed it up and sell my Honda :)
From Leo: The Asbestos heat shield that prevents the catalytic converter from melting the bottom of the carburetor is missing. It is important to have that. Lots of them burned to the ground as the electric fuel pump kept the fire going even after the engine stops. BTW, knock off wire wheels and hubs were not available in 1980.
They normally had twin su carburettors, this had a stromberg convertion. I used to have a mark 3 mgb roadster 1.8 had rostyle wheels. And works hard top. Chrome bumper not rubber but thats a nice one two. My one had the 18 v engine with overdrive gearbox. She is still around some where but in need or restoration looking at mot reports.
The spare wheel is a ro style , but the car has wire wheels they are not the same or compatability. They won't fit together, you either have wire wheels or ro styles not both the hubs are different. I had both on two different vehicles?
Astute observation. And if this is a true 1980 it would have been an LE and the wheels are completely different. This car is not MINT it is highly modified and it seems to be all about the cosmetics. The previous owner was a fool to dump $25 K in an RBB.
Shes a beauty. I still cant get over the value for the buck. Classic for so little money invested. I have a really nice 77 and though I dont see many, if any around, youd thunk theyd be bigger bucks than they are. This car is immaculate and id like to know the price. Without calling for no reason except curiosity
Mirah Nice car I had one during the 1980's , they never had with wheels as standard most had ro styles there where some made after 1980 at abingdon but they were special ones. 3 windshield wipers ? Most had just 2.
Why 3 windshield wipers. Had a pre plastic bumper mgb in UK we only had two windshield wipers. She was a mark 2. 1972 version res essential grill ro style wheels RH drive.
The three windshield wipers were to comply with the US import standards stating a certain percentage of the windscreen must be cleared with wipers. A couple of other examples of this are the rubber bumpers for 5 mph crash regulations, the modified exhaust tailpipe, and the raised ride height in order to shortcut the headlight ground clearance standards.
P.S. Trash that stereo crap. I had 4 of these and put over 140,000 miles on each of them. Loved my 1968 and 1972 MGs the best. If the engine hasn't been updated to burn unleaded fuel, you must use a lead substitute or your engine will crap out on you.
I had a 1972 MGB, I would like to get the same year or older. My 2 buddies at work had the 1969 MGB,s with the chrome ash tray back in 1973. Shocked someone would put that much money to a rubber bumper car?
@@stringer-ik1pc Nor could I afford to lose my axx.. Yes I have the money, but I cannot afford to lose $15 Grand. At best it is worth $10K and only a fool would buy a resto-mod RBB.
The UK MGB’s were never a great performance car, but the detuned Federal cars fitted with a single Stromberg carburettor instead of twin SU’s, would I think, hardly pull the skin off a rice pudding, it’s a wonder they sold in the numbers they did!
Bumper conversion and it would be perfect.
Mary Ann you are amazing. You get better with every video. Keep it up.
godd morning mary ann what you two vauxhall insignia and Mitsubishi lancer x mary ann thank you

Thanks, interesting.
Why spend 25k and not do a bumper conversion?

Thanks for the information, good stuff!!!
Lol, the spare tire is useless - it's a bolt on wheel that won't work on splined hubs...
Both very stylish.

Turns heads? I think they were looking at the lady.
get rid of the rubber bumpers! for 25k you would have thought THEY would have thought of that
Na.....looks better with those bumpers....like a Jaguar
random panda on the internet any of them....snob
@@firebir11 No Jag had these hideous Rubber Bumpers.
She and the MGB are stunning. I'll take two(2) if you have them----- seriously----.

the 1979 year ones are my favorite but the 80 one is still james bond stile
Mac Daddy. What do you know about MGs. I've owned a rubber bumper car for 33 years and it rocks.
They still look awful no matter how many years you own it.
Just needs a wooden dash. I have an all original "77" B & that's going to be one of my upgrades. Couple hundred bucks is worth it,..I think.
-1 for red piping in the leather
-1 for the "RESALE RED" paint job.
So lovely I like it that car hopefully I future I want to buy
Those are called door cards love. And that would be the bonnet, not a hood. 🙂
No fair tossing in facts.

3 Wiper blades were standard starting somewhere in the 70s. US mandated.
I love girls who drive standard, hint hint......love those legs.

But it still has those huge ass bumpers. Who would spend all that money and not go chrome?
An ignorant wealthy fool.
That engine does not qualify as “unmolested” The air pump is missing along with air injectors.
Nor is the car "MINT".
1974 was the last year of the chrome bumpers. The rubber bumpers look awful.
100% agree, makes the car look cheap, even with the wire wheels!
74 1/2. was the switch over to the RBB.
next time revv the car by her

EU acho muito lindo o carro!!

I hope in the next 30 years I have a sexy girl like her advertising a vintage 1995 saturn sl1.
Nice cars and nice leggs
I clicked on this vid and i'm not that much of a fan of the MGB.....legs! :D
Thanks
Rostyle spare wheel on a car with knockoff wheels, so that’ll be completely useless then 😂
The car is great, and the girl is pretty..
I don’t think it’s the car that was turning heads sweety 😊
Ni gace ne nosi😊
N A R D I steering wheel.
Learn to shut the hood/bonnet correctly.
The engine is not "unmolested".
The door panels (door cards) look like vinyl.
Good mouth
If you came with the car Id buy it in a minute.
Not rare, not hard to find, arguably worst year for US B's, not worth spending $25k to restore. D Palmer owner of 1972 MGB-GT
D Plamer.. Completely agree. Unfortunately there are too many RBB MGBs. Owner of a 1963. MGB.
She should learn how to put the top down properly. Read the owner's manual. Should be flush with the body.
Also needs to learn how to close the hood/bonnet.
25k? And it's worth is 10
And you still couldn't afford it.!!!
$10K is being optimistic for a cosmetically restomodded RBB.
