Lame story idea - brilliant actress handling the role to perfection. I never saw this when it came out as there were many times I didn't watch this show but I would watch this storyline for the acting alone. Kim Zimmer is brilliant!
You can call it lame- and it was definitely stretching it- but at the time cloning was such a hot topic and it attracted a lot of viewers who normally wouldn’t watch. I remember my dad, who had NO interest in soaps, going home from his business to watch Guiding Light with my step mom every day at 3 specifically because they were hooked on this whole clone storyline. So even tho nothing could help the overall ratings at that point, I remember seeing, in a very tangible way, why they were going for that story, when I saw how interested it got some people
Jeffrey was not a clone. The government made him have surgery to make him look like Richard to act as a body double. He was never a "clone". Watch the episode where he got Olivia pregnant and that will explain it all.
Anyone who ever watched this show would know that the first thing Reva would have done with her clone would have been to take her to bed for an exciting night of love.
My favorite GL storylines were: 1. Beth and Philip and the rape of Beth by her stepfather Bradley. 2. The Marion Crane/Brent storyline with Lucy. (awesome) 3. The Reva clone story. I loved Reva though, and the Josh and Reva romance. I actually have a video tape that came out all about Reva from the 90's I think. It was all about her character. Wish I had it on DVD. But I really liked it. They made one about Roger too. I stopped watching sometime after the clone story.
I can't believe any of the actors went along with the storyline, I was a faithful watcher until they killed off Maureen, the I was pretty much done after that
@@dontreldontrel416 I agree with Joe - GL was, for the most part, a traditional, conservative (tone, not politically) soap. The lengths they took to bring Reva back were ridiculous, though I admit I never liked the character from day one.
lol....i didnt know i called him a clone...lol...i knew he had surgery...but when people look allike they make it so corny..but jeffery's role was cool...this scene wit the two revas made me laugh
@Reemii i agree with you lol. I stopped watching Guiding Light in 1999 and came back in 2000 thinking the show would be better, The show actually went from bad to worse. Reva went from being cloned to jumping through pictures. The show should have been cancelled then.
Lauren Mills proctor and gamble is want killed most of the soap operas. If it wasn’t for them some still might be on. Guiding light had many fans that probably would be able to keep them on air but P&G drove them away thanks to awful gimmick storylines or ones that made no sense whatsoever. Sony should have took over Guiding light’s production.
you know come to think of it, this is only stupid cuz they called her a clone, but yall know jeffery is a clone of Prince Richard but they didnt make it so corny.
Yeah, her husband thought she had died in a plane crash and a doctor cloned her as a gift without his consent. Then the clone was given an aging serum but was still mentally a child. Reva came back after being trapped on an island. And then the clone overdosed on aging serum after not being able to assimilate as Cousin Dolly amd realizing Josh would always love the real Reva. Later Annie, the one responsible for the plane crash, came back with a new face and tried to steal Josh away again. It was definitely them trying to compete with the crazy storylines on Days of Our Lives at the time.
@@billwenham ... wow. And here I though Emmerdale was strange. Weirdest they went was a dude having two different wives die in air vehicle crashes, decades apart.
Why couldn’t P&G got out of the soap sooner than they did in the late 2000s. This crap was all their going trying to get massive ratings and money. If Sony pictures or another studio got guiding light might still be on today. Sony seems to keep Young and the restless a soap opera at least.
Kim Zimmer is a phenomenal actress!!!
This is the Reva i know and love!
The whole cloning storyline is campy comedy gold, lol. 🤣👍
I hated they cloned Reva...it was dumb and they could easily had doppelganger hired by Annie if they really wanted to do such a story.
They should've took a note from young and the restless. The Katherine/Marge twin story was the best done in daytime I feel
Thats when soaps were good...
No. That’s when soaps died. Storylines like this ruined them.
What the actual fuck. I slightly remember watching an episode of this when I was like five or six, but... a clone? Seriously?

You aint sleeping with MY MAN!!!
The only clone worth loving was Dolly.
This is when Guiding light lost it. Too far fetched
Exactly- it was so silly
"OH MY GOD, AN ACTUAL HUMAN CLONE OF MYSELF!
Anyway, about Annie Dutton..."
😂😂😂😂😂
good show when television was good

W THE GREAT KIM ZIMMER THE BEST
Why would anyone wanna look like Reva Shayne?
Because she's beautiful
Anyone who ever watched this show would know that the first thing Reva would have done with her clone would have been to take her to bed for an exciting night of love.
LOL. Not!
This doppelgänger stuff is spooky. Watch out Reva!!!!

Marion Crane was the name of the victim in Psycho, lol!

Campy soap doppelgänger fun!
I think that the writers were out of their minds when they wrote this storyline! Ugh 😂
This was an absolute ridiculous plot line. It really showed how the show went downhill.
After Maureen died the show lost its momentum.
Where are one episode?
this s/l was the beginning of the end for GL; I quit watching..
I loved it. If Days can pull off silly stuff y not GL
@JC yea, but that is what soaps r. It's the story. And I enjoyed it. GL and Another World was by far the best of the all soaps TBH.

Okay I'mma need context... been learning a bit about this show, but then I see clones?

It reminds me as well Krystal Carrington on dynasty with imposters Rita and then Katherine chancellor had a imposters to on Y&R 1990

While I'm not a fan of Y&R, they've been the #1 soap for over 35 years without resorting to nonsense like this.
This is when i started losing interest
hahaha so lame
This was the stupidest part of GL in all the years I watched! But Reva did it well!
