I don’t have a place to have plants because of the wind that would blow, them literally around. Also I don’t have a direct sunlight since the sun usually is located in the south.
Plants can handle the wind, unless you are talking about plants in containers that may be blown over, but even then there are ways to deal with that. There are also many native plants that can be grown in part shade and indirect sunlight including the hummingbird favorite eastern columbine that I cover in this video: ua-cam.com/video/gZwvWbZG5ME/v-deo.html
I got rid of my feeder once my plants got established. Their favorite is Jewel weed. I have one that guards my whole back yard and won’t let any other hummers near it.
@@BackyardEcology Yes. I think between the Columbine, figwort, bee balm, Jewelweed and others I think I have happy hummers. I think I will try a late fall winter feeder though once everything stops blooming. Thanks for the videos!
You are welcome! Late season feeders are cool to put up as you see some late migrants and occasionally get a surprise like a rufus or Anna's hummingbird. @@Jennifer-fg2bd
Nothing informative I need to add to this video, EXCEPT, remove burdock. I found a dead hummingbird stuck to a seed clump a few years ago. No more burdock on my property.

They do love jewel weed! If flowers are available the hummingbirds will chose them over a feeder most of the time.

Interesting! I have never heard of a hummingbird stuck to burdock before.
@@BackyardEcology made me sick when I realized getting rid of it could have saved that bird.
