I feel for Alaric he went through a lot, but so did hope he didn’t have to treat her that way, like I feel like she gets what he’s going through pretty well he doesn’t have to explain it to her.
One thing is Alaric was a vampire hunter/history teacher who really was only in Mystic Falls to get revenge on Damon Salvatore for killing his first wife who was Elena Gilbert's real mother. But towards the end of TVD he didn't want even Damon and even Stefan to come in and ruin his life with Caroline. He was even mean to Caroline Forbes and yelled at her and said that Josie and Lizzie were not their kids when he wasn't even there when Caroline was suffering.
I know alot of people say Alaric isn't that great but I truly think he tried his hardest. We need to try and see it from his perspective as well. He's not perfect and he could definitely have been better but hope needed to hear this. In fact...I needed to hear this.
Yeah like the time when he had a magical barrier to stop kids from using magic and told it some lunatics who later attacked the school using whatever it was to neutralize them.
And he fucking brought her parents in to what the hell he is not right the way he is talking is so wrong i am glad he got his ass handed to him and he found out what really is hope being Klaus looks like.
When she killed him I wasn't sad or angry because in "helping" her he hurt her and his daughters. Truthfully everything he was doing was selfish to me. He was thinking more for himself then those girls and that was the problem. She never asked for help. All she wanted was for them to see her for her not as Klaus' daughter but as Hope. And to love her but he couldn't do that and boom now he dead
the worst part is that he constantly brought it up throughout the show and never truly acknowledged or apologized for his actions and then changed them. he only saw Hope as a weapon and never understood that she was just a teenager who had way too much pressure on her
Um apparently, Alaric wasn't around when Hayley went outside and burned herself to save her own family. Plus Alaric didn't understand that Hope and the other Mickaelsons were cursed with something so she couldn't even be around her whole family. And I am pretty sure she did grieve the loss of her dad.
She didn't, though. Thats... A pretty big driving force behind most of her actions throughout the show (other than Landon) -- that she didn't truly let herself grieve Klaus. And Alaric knew that. Which is why he tried so hard to get her to actually feel her emotions and work through them before they broke her. Also, he's right. Hope has a whole lot of trauma (that again shes never worked through) that the necromancer could (and did) exploit.
For me, it wasn’t that he was wrong or even that he was being too harsh ( because it was something she needed to hear) but this isn’t the only time he’s thrown something like that in her face when they have an argument. Hope has never stopped grieving for her parents, so to constantly bring it up (especially during arguments) is fucked up on his part. And he don’t even apologize after.
