- UA-cam removed dislikes. Nobody liked that.
And there's an extension, returnyoutubedislike.com - but it only works on FireFox and Chrome-based browsers.
Not everyone uses Chrome. Or Firefox, for that matter. Here's how to enable the 'Return UA-cam Dislikes' extention in Safari on a Mac.

I really hope UA-cam will reverse this anti consumer move...
I've just stopped liking any videos at all. There is no point when there is no counterpoint.
Its most likely going to end up as a never-ending war, just like with adblocks and ads.
Adblocks were also made because some websites decided that one or two advertisements is not enough,
and they are going to fill 90% of your screen with ads, and just for good measure add some popups on top of that.
And after 10+ years of constant fighting, they never learned. I expect the same from this.
@@hubertnnn The dislike count is an estimation and not the actual dislike count. UA-cam has no way to counter this as its basically somebody keeping a tally on a third party server.
UA-cam is not pro consumer. It's pro money making.
Not only are they not, they added some ridiculous animation when you like a video and some bland messages saying the creator will get "feedback" if you dislike. They're doubling down

Sometimes dumb people end up say it “doesn’t work” just because there just doing it wrong and make a reason to dislike
HUGE DISCLAIMER: the extension isn't the actual number of dislikes, it guesses based on dislikes submitted by it's users, and any archived dislikes (read pre-removal saved pages)

This teaches:
- How to be a good YTer (no 10 min intro, 8 sponsors, no clickbait)
- How to get UA-cam dislikes back
- How to get good at Safari
Keep in mind that on most videos, the dislikes are estimations.

Problem is, the dislike number will never be accurate, because most people have abandoned using it, because most people won't see it.
People with the extension will still see it, so they will still use it.

If you have the extension, you will continue to see the dislikes, just like before. Why you or anybody else would suddenly be discouraged to use them?

@@der_pinguin44 when was that a thing? My oldest memory i have of me using yt is back in 2010-2014 when I was 6-10 years old & had a SAMSUNG I909 GALAXY S I think or something similar.

Correction: “how many dislikes there WERE”. The api has been closed; what you see is only historical data.
The dislike counter is using a separate backend that is in sync with UA-cam currently and will be maintained separate, so while it will not be 100% accurate to what is stored in UA-cam's internal systems, it should at least reflect the sentiment of the dedicated users who have the script installed (which is something. Something is better than nothing.)
Correction the app has a database where the new dislikes are counted, making it not dependant of the api.

@@ernstoud Yes, I use likes and dislikes on UA-cam to signal whether I think others would benefit from watching the video or not, so it's a very public signal.
UA-cam needs to admit the reason they deleted the dislike button is because of rewind 2018

Given I watch most of UA-cam on a tv I'm hoping for an extension that hides all portrait vids or rotates the tv through 90 degrees.
I wish someone would write a script so all -tiktok- #shorts videos would be blocked and not appear in any form on my tube...

THANK YOU! This was the only thing that helped after days of googling different variants of "how to install userscript in safari". Your video actually didn't address my direct problem (because I actually can't download the latest version of Userscript) but it led me to the answer, which was to delete the default text already in tampermonkey and just replace everything with the code that they give you on the youtube dislike website.

UA-cam might as well remove the like button as well. Then remove the ability to search for a video and it show a single video stream. just give us a TV guide every month so that we can really live in the 80s 😂

The worst thing is, is that the dislikes counted as an interaction so a tonne of dislikes would be good thing on anything but the large channels, dislikes were a good way to review the content before watching something, I don't know how google went so snowflake as to remove dislikes in the first place. It was an undiplomatic approach by google to introduce this without a reasonable debate.
It's time to offer channels the right to have or not have their dislikes publicly displayed taking into account the activities of some users who dislike bomb channels for no good reason. This is when the feature works to protect channels but give people a choice.
it's a private corporation. maybe if people like you stop saying nonsensical rubbish, we might have user interfaces that make sense.

unsurprising as safari makes add-on development unnecessarily complicated while the other browsers follow a web extension pattern that allows for cross-deployment. Safari really is the ie6 of today

it has access only to youtube and it's own site, so unless you have some private stuff at youtube you should be safe anyways

The only reason youtube removed dislikes is because of their 2018 rewind video.
What I don't like about UA-cam in Safari is that when you maximize the video, it creates a separate window with the video, so whenever you try to return to it, you must find the separate window and not the maximized one...
