Well said, we don't need new prophesy on Covid, election or anything we need preachers and teachers to faithfully teach God's word.
This man is saying he is a teacher yet he has never ever had the Spirit move through him and JESUS SSYS THAT SIGNS WILL FOLLOW HIS BELIEVERS. This man is saying that what JESUS was teach his disciples to teach the army of God is not what JESUS was teaching so this is exactly what Satan would say isn’t it. Only the devil would say that Jesus didn’t really say what HE has said. This man has not been taught by GOD but has been taught by men who do not believe or understand the truth. God says that only those who are lead by the Spirit are sons of GOD. This man is saying the Spirit has changed and that GOD and JESUS have changed and that we have in us a different HOLY SPIRIT. Who do you think
Would say such a thing to deceive the body of CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD. This man needs to repent and fast and pray and learn the TRUTH FROM GOD HIMSELF because he will pay a very high price for being a false teacher.
Not wanting to babble incoherently means we are not saved? Mixing Christianity and new age name it and claim it ideology is biblical?

My question to you all is that, if the gifts were ceased, why did Paul admonished them to seek the gifts and also in 1 CORINTHIANS he gave them instructions of how it should be used in the Church?

What about the Corinthian church? What about when Paul asked them to desire the spiritual gifts especially to prophesy?
The word prophecy that is used there means to speak forth! Not new revelation. But speaking forth the word of God which is to share His word and message with the church to build up the brothers and sisters.

But where in the Bible do the gifts cease ?
What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself? It was passed on to us by those who heard him speak, and God verified the message by signs and wonders and various miracles and by giving gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose to do so (Hebrews 2:3)
Those who heard the Lord were the apostles. How was someone to know whether or not the message of the apostles was to be trusted? It was by “signs and wonders.” This verse says that God had (past tense) born witness to His Word by means of the sign gifts. This indicates that He was no longer doing it.
From this verse we find that the signs were given for confirmation of God’s Word. That was their purpose. It was for the first generation of Christians that these signs were given. The writer here is a Christian from the second generation. This suggests that the miraculous gifts were dying out when this letter was written.
The foundation has been laid. Indeed, the church was built upon Christ. He, in turn, gave His authority to His hand-picked apostles.
It is emphasized that a foundation only has to be laid once. Once the foundation had been built upon, however, there was no need to lay again the foundation. This foundation was laid through the various sign gifts. First, Jesus had them then His apostles were also given these gifts.
Another argument for the cessation of the sign gifts concerns their lack of mention in the New Testament letters. Apart from the Book of Acts, the letter to the Corinthian church is the only place sign gifts are mentioned. The list of spiritual gifts in the letter to the Romans (Romans 12:3-8) and the letter to the Ephesians (Ephesians 4:11-13) does mention the sign gifts. If they were permanent gifts, then one would assume that the other letters would have mentioned them. But they do not. This is another indication that these gifts were only temporary.
Once the New Testament was completed, and believers began to accept its authority, the need for confirming miracles ceased.
The validity of the gospel has other evidence to support it. For one thing, the Holy Spirit inwardly confirms the Bible as God’s Word. He confirms the truth of the Word of God to the hearts of those who hear or read it.
In addition, there is also much objective evidence available to demonstrate its truthfulness. Miraculous signs are no longer necessary.
Therefore, the issue is not one of power but of purpose. God certainly has the power to work miracles whenever and wherever He pleases. However He only does so according to His own purpose - not ours. It seems from Scripture is that the miraculous sign gifts were only to be temporary, not permanent.

I like Alisa Childers, who came from a Pentecostal beginning. The things witnessed while under Foursquare and Assembly of God - Calvary teaching was not always of God, pretty wild at times for sure, yet since the church is made up of sinful men (redeemed) we are not all sanctified at the same velocity. GRACE, patience, forbearance, peace are good markers to consider. Like Kyle & Jon has said, God can do anything He is God, but we shouldn't be running down to churches to look for the local healer, like one in a tribe would look for the medicine doctor, entertaining - yes, bewitching - maybe, biblical - often awry. Stay the course, solid biblical doctrinal teaching taught here @ RBC, good shepherds, good leaders.
The bewitching is those who preach a powerless gospel. JESUS IS THE RIGHT EXAMPLE AND NOT THE PHARISEES.
To say what you are saying is to say that God has stopped speaking to His children and GOD IS NOT DEAD and Jesus is interceding for us and Holy Spirit has been sent to help us.
I'm still confused then what about the Spiritual gifts mentioned in Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12; and Ephesians 4?

Thanks for your effort but couldn't convince me from the bible. All I heard are deductions and bad ones. You have an idea and trying to use the text to say what you want it to say. There is No clear scripture or verse to support the argument. While 1 Corinthians 13 clearly states that prophecies and tongues among other things will cease when the perfect comes and see him face to face. I'm sure the perfect doesn't refer to the written Word of God. Even John MacArthur doesn't believe so. You can check his study bible.
Second, the sign gifts or apostolic gifts are merely gifts. While the sign of an apostle are clear, but Paul in 1 Corinthians 12 doesn't limit these gifts to the Apostles. If they were supposed to be for apostles only why would Paul say that some have gifts of healing... etc. This would be very misleading and would create a great deal of confusion. Based on your logic, he should have said: there are gifts for us apostles and other gifts for the rest of the body. Please keep in mind I don't believe we have modern day apostles or Prophets. We don't need them because back to your point, the foundation has been set and we have it in the Holy Scriptures. But this doesn't apply the rest of the gifts in my opinion.
I've heard similar arguments from some beloved men of God that I respect and usually go back to when I have questions about many things, but still they couldn't provide a biblical ground for the cessationist view.
Maybe looking at Church history will help. Can you name a single person from 200AD - 1850AD for example who claimed and was verified to speak in biblical tongues?
Or heal the sick on command?
Or interpret tongues?
Or prophesy?
Or any other sign gift?
I don’t think the Holy Spirit just forgot to give these gifts to his church, especially in an age where medicine, information and language barriers were a whole lot harder than today, but now we have these things so much easier to access, all of a sudden there’s some resurgence of these sign gifts? Not only does it not line up biblically but historically in the church and logically, apparently God just forgot to give people these sign gifts for near 2000 years until some randoms at Azusa started blaring out gibberish and called it tongues..
Signs and wonders had a specific purpose, OT and NT, that is to verify the speaker was sent from God and was he was saying authoritative . Scripture is complete, so there is no need for sign (attesting) gifts to verify anything anymore. They were for a time, and that time has ended.

@@jc6618 Grace and Peace Brother, you said to name one...George Fox , (1624-1691). Did you know that this is a thinking of the western Church? In the eastern Church they were not so influenced by the illuminism on their faith as the western Church was... The idea of cessationism was never affirmed by Paul, by Jesus or by any other Bible writer...actually Jesus said that who believed in Him would do signs as He did and even greater. John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. (ESV) Saying otherwise I believe contradicts what Jesus said. God bless you.
I tell you what. I believe in the gifts and I believe there are fakes and probably deluded people out there who claim to operate in the gifts but I know from personal experiance that God has spoken to me through other people in times of great need of things that noone else but me could know of. One such time, there was a great financial need that I did not share with anybody about and I was very fearful of the consequences of the need not being met and while I was being prayed for by a visiting speaker at our church at the time he told me that disaster would not come. Had no idea where it was going to come from but it did come within a few days. Don't tell me that the gifts are not in operation today.

I believe God speaks to us today I believe if we're about to make a mistake he will warn us but I also think there is a lot of people who misuse the gifts,I believe the gifts are still active but I think there is a counterfeit that's creapt in
So does this mean Pentecostal churches and baby baptisms churches are adding to Gods Word? They still preach the gospel in some of those churches?

I say year 2020 wasn't friendly too the new apostolic movement how is it you close down a healing revival?
Grace and Peace Pastor Kyle. I understand your way of believing, but I think you shoudn't tell people that the gifts diminished throughout history because this is not true... even John Wesley had some experiences with demons possessed people and such...
also George Fox (1624-1691) knew that miracles could happen in the name of Jesus, an he also told people that whatever they received in prophecy should be according to the Bible otherwise would be not from Christ. And I know by researching this issue that signs are to announce the Gospel, and in missionary fields around the world, speccially where Christ has not yet been annouced at all the same signs we see in the new testament happen, even resurrections. By the way, when a servant of the Lord came to my home to announce Christ to me I was imediatelly healed from a disease I had for 15 years, and it has been 20 years since that. Anyway I believe we can have different faith about some noncrucial subjects in Scripture and still be Brothers . Romans 14 teaches us that, that there were going to be different kind of faiths. The gifts of the Spirit are given to the church of Jesus Christ, not only to the Apostles. Yes, the doctrine that we stand on comes from the Apostles and Prophets(from God ultimately), but how does that prove the "sign gifts" out of existence? Mind you that "sign gifts" and "Apostolic gifts" are not Biblical terms.
‘Apostolic gifts’ is a biblical term, yes doesn’t say ‘apostolic gift’ verbatim but it’s clearly implied nonetheless.

@@jc6618 Why call them "Apostolic gifts" if Scripture calls them "gifts of the Spirit"? This is the problem with cessationists. I'm not a charismatic or Pentecostal, but I believe that all the gifts of the Spirit are in the Church today. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 1 and you'll see that Paul himself says that the Church shouldn't be lacking in any spiritual gift until the coming of our Lord Jesus.

Also, what kind of reasoning says that "because I didn't see anyone raised from the dead, therefore it doesn't happen today?" That's exactly the same logical fallacy that David Hume had. I guess you also won't accept any eyewitness accounts will you?

this is so sad, I wanted to come to this church but shutting out Holy Spirit is a no go for me. Jesus went to the cross for our sins and for the Holy Spirit to come to dwell with us. I have so much to say but out of respect I'll refrain and pray that you'll come to the full truth.
Not gift. We all have this when we develop correct understanding of truth and maturity. But sure, most of these people are clowns not actually having metaphysical experiences. But the Bible is a map, not the destination.
The gifts are alive & active. Listen to Dr Michael brown debates on the issue. He’s undefeated. Isolate someone in the jungle with just a Bible to read and guaranteed they would not come out as cessationist

God never changes and neither dies Jesus or Holy Spirit. But people like the Pharisees who didn’t believe and have/had no faith Jesus tells them they would not get a sign. If you did not know Jesus the Christ personally (or in the manner as Paul), you are not an Apostle. These two specific apostolic gifts have ceased, as there have been no apostles who can administer & interpret them since the first century AD. Sola Scriptura!

Now it is abundantly clear that there are no greater wonders and signs than healing the sick, casting out demons and raising the dead. Now, this is exactly what the disciples had all done (including Judas!), see Mat.10:1,8. So the 'greater works' of John 14:12 cannot apply to these things. What is often not read, but what is stated is 'because I go to the Father'. This is precisely why believers can do greater works than those the Lord did. He preached before the cross and showed people the grace that is in the Father. But we, after the cross, can connect people with a glorified Man in heaven, the Lord Jesus. In this way they become members of the body of Christ and receive the Holy Spirit, which could only be given after the ascension (John 7:38-39, see below). All this was not possible before the cross, in which rebirth and salvation were possible, but not yet the hallmark of this time and of what the church is, namely an inseparable unity with a glorified Man in heaven and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit on earth. soil. These things show God's perfect rest in the finished work of his Son.
Now this He said of the Spirit, whom those who believe in Him would receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. John 7:39
Before Jesus was glorified, people could not yet receive the Holy Spirit, because He is given on the basis of faith in the finished work on the cross. The greater works of John 14:12 consist in connecting sinners, through the gospel, with a glorified Man in heaven in whom every believer is 'finished' (Col. 2:10), made acceptable in the Beloved of God (Eph.1:6). The New Testament then clearly does not teach that we should now pursue signs and wonders, but that we should grow in the knowledge of God through the Lord Jesus (see 1 Cor. 2:12-13; Eph. 3:17-18; 4:13,15-16; Col.1:10; 2Pet.3:18). In Him we get to know God the Father who has fully revealed Himself in the finished work on the cross. We can thus be filled into all the counsel and fullness of God (Eph.3:18-19). While we are weak and fragile in our bodies (2Cor.12:10).
Well there is and once you understand that truth and you hear from GOD HIMSELF and you understand that Christ in you via Holy Spirit. We pray spirit to spirit via Holy Spirit in us and He do not know what to pray because we do not know what to pray. I HAVE PRAY YOU GET A REVELATION OF TRUTH. What you are doing is giving power to the devil but saying there is no power in Jesus name and you are a LIAR BECAUSE JESUS TELLS US HIS NAME IS POWER OVER EVER DEMON IN MARK 16:14-20 and LUKE 10:19-20 and you are calling JESUS A liar.

Why are there so many fakes and false cessasionism teachings on the scary gifts of a spirit ? Biblically taught and practiced they are given for our benefit to serve the Lord more effectively. Too many paganised Christians prefer to deny the power and agree with their enemy, or go off perverting and falsifying those beautiful gifts. Doctrines of demons are in literally every church now. Use bible fed discernment, not man worship.

In order to minister your need to have the fullness of GOD just as Jesus had and was teaching His disciples. You are negating Jesus and you will be held at a high standard for preaching a dead Jesus when Jesus has promised us more then He did yet you want to tell people we don’t even have what He had. You need to repent and fast and pray and seek God to show you truth. You preach doctrines of demons who like to teach people that the mighty name Jesus has no power. I REBUKE YOU IN JESUS NAME.

You are not serving God with your LIES but rather serving Satan/devil. You do not even know JESUS AND THE POWER GIVEN TO US BY GOD WITH HOLY SPIRIT JUST AS HOLY SPIRIT WAS IN JESUS. There is definitely a lie being taught because preachers went back to religion and are quenching the spirit and so if you are talking about church history the disciples had to keep going back to those who knew the truth but instead they kept going back to religion because it is easier to only talk about Jesus and not really have faith and belief in the truth. He doesn’t speak about the Azusa Street revival and how the minister had to put a box in his head because man is prideful. This man needs to repent and be born again and praise GOD if we would actually spend time worshipping the one true GOD for hours on end instead of spending me doing worthless things.
That decline that you see in the move of Holy Spirit is the continued quenching of the Spirit and UNBELIEF and people refuse to REPENT OF THEIR UNBELIEF and it is because you preach a lie that people have left the church and are looking to Satan to help them instead.
Read the Bible daily and you will notice that this man is faithful to God's Word.
