    Nice video John. This is one of the toughest sets I’ve put together. It’s right up there with the 72 set. This is also my favorite set of the 60’s

      Thanks Mark! Yeah, I've picked up most of the "big guys" for my HOF collection, but don't have the Seaver, Carew, or Brooks Robinson, so I think those will be the hardest (in terms of budget) for me to get. I can only imagine putting together an ungraded set having to get all those high number cards. And the 72 set is just so massive. Would someday like to get the 72 set as that was the year I was born, but I'd probably just have to buy one rather than try to build one myself. I remember years ago (like back in the mid to late 80s) my parents thought about getting me a 72 complete set for Christmas only to find out that my LCS wanted like $600 for one. Boy have times changed!

      Same here. One of my fav all-time sets. Those high #s SPs are brutal. So you found putting together the 72 set kinda as hard as the 67? I assumed the 71 set was prob the toughest of that decade.

    Thanks for sharing, John. Surprised Yaz didn't make top 10. Think everyone knew the Seaver rookie would be #1.

      Glad you enjoyed it Kevin. Yeah, if you know the 67 set you know that the Seaver rookie is the king of the hill in terms of price (with the exception maybe of a PSA 10 Mantle coming up for sale or the first Mays to get a PSA 10 grade).

      @@WadeBoggsFan The 67 Seaver rookie is probably the most coveted card in the set & agree with you that it might get competition if PSA 10 Mantle or Mays came on the scene.

    The Colavito is a hi # n oc a lot n easily over $100. Been looking for one. The Brooks Robinson not only hi # but SP which makes it expensive. Top 3 not surprised. Great video.

      Thanks Mike. Some people don't understand why some of those cards are so expensive, especially graded copies. But it's like trying to complete a master set of a modern card issue where 100 or so cards are short-prints. Would be hard and expensive to do.

    Perhaps my second favorite 60‘s set. This gave me a twinge of regret. I used to have the Norm Cash. 😢

      I have a few regret sales as well. Was your Cash a high grade copy?

      @The_Cincinnati_Kid 9 місяців тому

      @@WadeBoggsFan it was an ungraded card. Probably at best an SGC 3. Cash’s through-swing pose on the ‘67 is iconic to me.

    This one fooled me. I figured Aaron would of been higher and I was surprised that Mantle wasn’t number one. I believe he PSA 10 would be #1 if we had a more recent sell. Another great one my friend!

    • @WadeBoggsFan
      @WadeBoggsFan  9 місяців тому

      I wasn't too surprised that Seaver was #1 only because it being a high number series card. But you are right, I think a PSA 10 Mantle would definitely be #1 if one would sell today.

    It's also important to distinguish for the 7th series (high numbers) cards #534 and above - which ones were SP's and which ones were DP's on the sheet. The SP's are significantly tougher. That's the case with cards like Norm Cash and Mike Shannon. The prices here really have nothing to do with what these players did on the field; their cards from '66 and '68 go for a fraction of what the '67 SP highs do.

    • @WadeBoggsFan
      @WadeBoggsFan  9 місяців тому

      Thanks John! Very true. The high numbers are tougher to begin with, but then some of them are even harder because they are short-printed. I still get collectors commenting that they don't understand why some common vintage cards are worth so much. I think they get the supply part, but they don't understand the demand part.

    Hi John. This is a really nice design set. No doubt the Seaver is #1. Thanks John.

      I happen to think it's one of the nicest sets of the 60s as well. I wonder where the Seaver rookie would rank if it wasn't part of the high number series. Surely up there, but I think a good amount of the value is due to the limited supply of cards from the high series.

    Good question why is Mike Shannon over card 609 Tommy John, and Yaz?
    like what you said Colavito was a super star in his time my friend has some of his cards so Rocky isn't the same player say Mike Shanon is?
    he's more like Robin Roberts is.
    I don't think it matters whether Rocky's card number is 580 , 280 or 180 what matters is his numbers on the field, that people putting sets together
    need certain cards , team collectors, player collectors that's what matters. not the card number.

    • @WadeBoggsFan
      @WadeBoggsFan  9 місяців тому

      Hi Mark. See my previous reply regarding why high number series cards are generally more valuable/expensive, even for common or average players. That's the reason why the Shannon, Tommy John, and Colavito cards made the top 10 list. If they were in lower series of the set they would not come close to making the top 10.

    • @jchcollins
      @jchcollins 9 місяців тому

      I'd disagree. With '67 it totally matters what number the card is. Mike Shannon is worth more than Yaz justifiably, because he's one of the tougher 7th series single prints. Same with Colavito. John WBF is right, if Shannon was number 100 something, he would probably be considered a common. Colavito was a star in his day, but not a HOF'er and he certainly doesn't break the bank in any other '60s Topps set. So again the value here is related to where he got stuck on the sheet, and being much more difficult for collectors (then as now...) to find than the Mantle or Aaron cards issued in earlier series.

      @@jchcollins So John Collins let's look at 6 cards 3 from the lower number set and 3 from 534 to 609!!
      so John C. would you rather have ?
      1. Mike Shannon card 605?
      2.Ted Savage card 552?
      3 . Gary Geiger card 566 ?
      or would you rather have these
      1. Yaz card 355
      2. Clemente card 400
      3Lou Brock card 285?
      which players do you see more in Beckett , which players do you see more creators holding up in video's contest videos, care packages ect?
      now there could be collectors who need certain cards it works both ways somebody could need a Rusty Staub, Jerry Grote or they could need
      a Jc Martin or a Jimmy Piersall .
      If I was looking for cards from 1967 which i'm not buut if I was I wouldn't go by the number on the back I would go with what I need
      hall of famers, 500 homerun club, ,rookies but NOT the number on the back?

    • @jchcollins
      @jchcollins 9 місяців тому

      @@marksantucci4230 No argument that in most cases Hall of Famers are the more desirable cards. But welcome to how scarce high numbers work. Your argument is a bit skewed as you are not necessarily differentiating between SP high numbers and DP's (Gary Geiger is not a tough 7th series card; set you back $5). The point is that you might pick HOF or 500 homer guys, but in the scheme of things (don't forget how popular set collecting still is) some of those cards even if no name players are super difficult to find, and thus have large price tags. At the end of the day it's simple supply and demand. If Mike Shannon was not a $100+ card by those standards, he would quickly fall into the dollar bins and commons boxes. There's a reason why he doesn't.

      The current average selling price for a PSA 8 is $810. The last one sold on 5/4 for $706 through an eBay auction. The one before that was on 4/11 and sold for $945. Best offer on eBay. Listing price was $995. Hope that helps.
