I like to thin down some reikland flesh shade and apply it over the runelord brass with the canoptek alloy to blend them together. Worked really well on my warriors. Its not needed, just a little bit more effort to have that extra detail
If it looks good and you're happy with it, that's what it's all about! :-) It's good how there can be so many nice looking variations of their paintjobs, I think that takes the pressure off when painting them. :)
Cheers Jono, very much appreciated! :) I think they’re a lot of fun to paint, they’re easy to get looking good and quick too. Really enjoyed them so far! :)
Cheers Lars, very much appreciated. :-). The bases are a mix of Astrogranite and Astrogranite Debris (I find one too dry and one too wet). Once dry, wash with Nuln Oil, wetbrush with Mechanicus Standard Grey, drubrush the raised areas with Dawnstone, then the very high bits drubrush the tips with White. Once dry, I use a bit of Athonian Camoshade and Agrax Earthshade to discolour areas of it (to give it a look of damp, dirt/grime). :-)
I can't seem to get that "glow". I paint the "eyes" corax white first and then tesseract glow but they don't seem to pop like yours do. Maybe its our difference in lighting...
Hey Graham, thanks for watching! :) Just wrote out a dead long response here and it didn't load in! haha, gutted! Will try and get it all back up. First thing to check is the tesseract glow. Mine loses a lot of the 'glow' if it stands for a while. I have to proper stir it up with the bum end of a paintbrush. It goes almost like, I suppose cold blue tac, really thick and gunky and you have to REALLY stir it for a while. Once it's mixed again try one of the below and hopefully it should work.:) White>Apothecary White (contrast)>White in the middle section of the glowing bit>tesseract glow. When you apply the tesseract glow, try to get a thin layer in the middle of the glowing bit, and a little more around the edges and recesses. If you don't have apothecary white, try white>tesseract glow (making sure there's a fair bit in the recesses.> Once the tesseract is dry, use a little white to go over the centre of the glowing bit> do a thin layer of tesseract over the centre. That should make it pop a little if it still looks a little flat. :)
I... Honestly couldn't see much difference with all the "highlights". Tbh it looked like Way to much effort for... A rather underwhelming effect overall. 😕
Hey Matthew, thanks for watching and commenting. :) Painted up like this they match all of my necrons so, so they’re a perfect fit. As with everything hobby/painting, use what you like and change what you don’t. :)
I didn't mean to imply that they were Bad. I just thought the process was a little complicated. BUT! to be fair... I think the color setting on your camera muted the contrast a bit. 😕 All in all I give you major props for even making the video though. And you Did give me a few ideas. So thanks for that. 🙂
It's all good Matthew, I find the videos a learning curve finding out what works and what doesn't, and also finding out which ones are too complicated also. haha! Always glad of the feedback either way. :) Ach, the camera - it's the eternal struggle. Playing about with backgrounds trying to find a way to get the colours right all of the time. I remain hopeful I'll find it soon! :)

Great video mate, thx. What did you use for the base material?
