- You (the Listener) are a priestess of an old temple abandoned by all else. For centuries, your family guarded this tiny, overgrown shrine in the middle of the forest. You have faced spirits, monsters, even demons known as Oni. The spirit world has proven to be dangerous but you’ve always managed to hold your own. At least, until he showed up.

I really love the humorous moments that Hiruko handles so beautifully, flipping from menace to baffled family commentary to defiance to attraction. To hear the crabby oni guy describe the priestess as a "sassy halfpint" is hilarious! This is one of my favorite audio series, and the fact that you put it all in one audio is delightful.

About: if the priestess/Priest gets irritated by the multiple attacks by enemies they summon a big broom and bonk there enemies the numbers of times they got hit.

I just listened to the whole thing and OH MY GOD. I know everyone in the comments has already said this but this is amazing. The voice acting, the writing, the witty humor, action, broom MVP 🧹 and GURL THE SOUNDTRACK HAD ME THINKING I WAS IN MY OWN MOVIE. I was fully emersed. I will follow Esme to the end of the earth atp. I’ve always loved her scripts but this is my far my favorite. I shall now dedicate myself to drawing oni x priestess fan art for the upcoming days.
