I would put up an additional fence and a taller one. That’s just me.
The javs cannot jump that high, but the doggos...
Javelinas have been known to seriously injure or kill Jaguars in groups. Even a playful dog could threaten the javelina causing it to sink its large teeth into the dog. Even large dogs can be seriously injured by one, and a group can kill one.
Even 1 javelina could kill a big dog easy

Where do Jaguars come in contact with javelinas?
They don't discriminate...eat anything edible!
Javelina isn’t clicking, so it looks like simple curiosity
Yeah, I think the Boston terrier is the more initially aggressive one here.
Dang! that's a small fence. With those things running around.
They cannot junp it, the dogs can
@@flamah10n nope they can jump it, happend to me with a taller fence
Javelinas are a protected species in Arizona. Javelinas can't differentiate between coyotes and dogs therefore they will attack a dog. They are afraid of humans. If you make sounds, they will run away. Homeowners have a legal right to use reasonable measures to protect their property, but they cannot capture, injure or unlawfully kill a big game animal and Javelinas are considered "big game." Therefore, they are protected under state law. I had them beyond my fenced yard early this morning and my Toy Poodle was barking at them and they started toward her. When I stood up and went toward my dog yelling, the Javelinas turned and ran. But, I still took my dog inside.
You are correct, however they are not afraid of humans, and are even aggressive towards humans, when they have babies with them, as they did on this day.
Anna D I would have shot an arrow at it in the grass.
Larry Medina
You mean in the ass.
Though what if there is a time when you come out of your house, and then all of a sudden a javelina comes up at you and tries to attack, but you can't kill it if your armed cause it's a big game animal? :(
just based on the fact that they were flanking the dogs on two sides at one point. id put up a bigger fence and also shoot one just to make your presence known. I went to arizona to help out a friend of mine, his wifes dog got mauled by 3 Javelina's and nearly died. i had never hunted one before but i heard about them so i put kevlar vests on my dogs to protect their neck, chest, hips and belly. I had 2 fully grown russian caucasian shepherds at the time, Mira was 197 pounds and Utok is 214 pounds, i found the pack of Javelina that were around her place and they made a B line straight for Utok, No fear at all what so ever, Utok and mira Fought with them, killed one, I killed another and Victor killed the third. but still, i had never seen a level of agression that high in any animal, Ive literally seen a 400 pound bear run chattering its teeth in fear, but Javelinas? Not even close, fear doesnt exist to them at all when it comes to a dog and its like they know when you're hunting them. and the damage they did? even with the kevlar vests on, the vests were absolutely shredded and Utok needed 11 stitches on his front right leg.
Javalina babies get raided and eaten by Coyotes so Javalina parents become aggressive with anything resembling Coyotes. They are not playing around and can slice...
I would seriously would not let your dog play with that, they can do really serious damage.
Bush Trash yeah his dogs pussy tho you can change that it’s to later in life
Kendrick White it don’t matter if he was a rot or pit. A dog is gonna get fucked up by a pack of Javelinas. These fuckers have giant 3 inch tusks and their aggressive. They are not to be messed with.

What great dogs. The big guy is in 100% play mode and the little guy is trying to follow his lead but his "little dog" genes are kicking in. That fence bothers me though. It would be tragic if your big dog jumped it.
The big dog has no clue she can jump the 32" high fence, lol. 2 years and she hasn't even tried. The little one is a senior girl, she is familiar with these critters but like you said she is following the bigger dogs lead about playing.
They want to play!! What do u mean aggressive? U don't know animals?
ChristopherFrankTV: The bigger dog is completely in play mode.
Thw waving tail, the bobbing down the jumping from side to side ia all I want to play actions, if you don't know this, you don't know dogs.
The big guy is a rottie pup, she wanted to play.
"littel dog" genes don't exist, it's the owners letting them on couches and laps whenever they want that will make them aggressive.
Your Boston is so calm, mine would have been barking and trying to get at those Javelinas.
Javelinas have 3 inch tusks they will tear a dog up.
I got an 80lbs pitbull that says otherwise. 1 on 1 my pit would ruin a javelina

Ryan Trader depends on size. Same size my moneys on the pit unless it’s one of those timid ones.
And then eat it.
There was nothing at all aggressive about how either animals were behaving. If anything one of the dogs got a little rattled and the javalina simple ignored it
ummm your dog was in serious freaking danger lol
All I can think is “look at all that free taco meat just walking around your back yard”. Hell, Javelinas aren’t even a game animal in Texas.
Hope your dogs never get not a fight with those Javelina they can kill even the biggest dog. Seems like a short fence you have there.
Yes. Short fence is makin me worried about your dogs.
It just looked like all involved, both dogs and Javelinas were curious. None were in attack mode. Seemed they all would spook each other when they got too close. Pretty funny.
they were not aggressive towards the dogs
Fuck, people are mental as fucks!
Those pigs will fuck that dog up don’t pretend they’re cute
That dog could easily jump that fence it didn’t that tells you something.
I agree. That looked like play behavior to me.
Boston Terriers are wonderful - small dogs with big personalities. I hope both she and her larger "sibling" continue to stay safe from those Javelinas.
I think a 12 gauge with buckshot will do the trick
@@lrc9304 shut up loser.
KKona
It seems like the dogs were a) curious and b) trying to protect the territory with some many around. No doubt this could get ugly fast because the javelina would misinterpret your dogs' playfulness.
I also live in Arizona and a herd lives near the house. Our household has slowly introduced the dogs to the pigs. We have created a schedule for the two animals to coexist. At this point, the dogs go outside and do their business while the pigs eat. They don't even seem to notice each other anymore. The pigs will even eat out of our hands.
They are naturally aggressive but that is because they equally as scared of humans and dogs as we are of their herd. If you calmly get to know each other over time, they are more than willing to share the environment with you if they know they aren't in danger.
It helps to make sure the dogs are properly exercised and calm when introductions happen. They have a place in this world just like us. They are wild. They don't know what property lines are.
The good news is if you make friends with one pack, they'll keep the others away!
You sound like the only person with a heart and common sense
12 gauge slug time.

I just got chased twice by a pack of these mean pigs.

M4T T Not true they’re from the Tayassuidae (New World pigs) family.

How fukt is that? Im gonna eat one.
You should probably get a higher fence and supervise the dogs when outside so the dogs stay safe
The dogs are thinking,” what the f***ck was that”....🤣😂but seriously, that could have been tragic,
Doggos are super cute! Please protect them!
No
In California they call them javalena. In Arizona we call them pigs.
Your spread is absolutely gorgeous. Congrats!
I agree with Lindy. All I see in that video are some javelina feeding in the yard and being curious about the dogs. They never charged at the dogs, in fact they quickly backed off when the dogs fake-charged them. They were all curious and testing the situation. Many people misinterpret animal behavior. There are too many overblown stories about "attacks" that are not attacks at all. I have been 10' and closer to javelina. When they finally scented that I was there they backed away and guardedly kept feeding on the ground. Just don't be stupid. Don't ever approach a herd of javelina because the dominant male will charge you. That is simply wild animal behavior. Don't corner any javelina ever, you can only expect a defensive response. Leave them alone. Unless you've come across a rabid animal they won't formulate an "evil attack" against you. People, be sensible!
Abby A. Many idiots interpret animals wrong LIKE YOU. Javelina instinctually kill dogs bc they are prey to foxes as babies. You let your dog (especially small one) play with one...watch how u interpret things.
Those things are straight predators. They're also pack animals. They're akin to hyenas in North America.
They charged, as much as they could with a fence in the way, and "growled " at the dogs which they probably thought were coyotes. What video are you watching?
One javelina was bristling, and did make a short lunge after the small dog lunged at it first. One of the other javelina near the fence was clearly more curious and uncertain that aggression was what was going on -- the problem was the small dog who instigated aggression.
The "cute" wears off quickly. We live on the boundary of national forest land in N Az and are infested with javelinas. Its not uncommon to see packs of 6-8, and I've seen upwards of 20 in a group. Mature males will be aggressiveto defend the pack . They have bad eyesight and may run right at you if startled. The video doesn't show their dangerous 2-3" tusks that they slash with. They almost eviscerated a neighbor's Golden Retriever and ripped the neighbors leg up (40+ stitches) when he went to its aid.
Keep your dog on a leash.
They were there b4 u were. Suck it up. U want to kill all wildlife living near u. Go to NY.
Why complain about wildlife when you live in the country?
DWP in AZ still having fun living there?
That’s nature for you.. you just let them be and keep pets away from them.
I’ve punched a javelina when it charges at me and it like backed off and then turned around and ran forward and then did a circle and came chargin back at me so I just ran inside my house quick
Flames yea right
I was cheering for the javelina.
Who else lives in Phoenix AZ but now I'm in Sedona so ive actually encountered one of these when they were digging through our food and my dad walked out of his tent (were camping lol) and my dad was trying to get rid of it (not dumb enough to come close) and it just kept eating and my dad had to keep the gun in his tent loaded he wasnt risking one of those javelinas to come in and attack him (his zipper on the tent is broken) so he just stayed there with a gun beside him
They are rolling 3 deep LOL
It is interesting that they seem to know that the dogs cannot get through the fence.

Melvin Johnson I have just watched that video and that point of time both animals was not aggressive towards each other then

Walk up food farm, where the pork comes to you! Niice
You get real nice and friendly with those dirty bastards. Let them lose all fear of you, that way if your gate ever fails you can scrape what's left of your pets up with a flat shovel.
Puppies want to play, pigs want fresh dog meat. Not a great idea to let your dogs mess with those hateful bastards.
I'll give you some advice. Get yourself a nice ColdSteel Ghurka Kukri, in A2 tool steel ( they just started using the A2 in 2019, tough as a tank, holds a scalpel sharp edge for a long time), lean over that fence and give that oversized rat a chop on the neck, just in front of the shoulders. Paralyze that over aggressive pig/rat, then cook up a nice meal for your "pack".
Terrible advice in the comments!: these are Russian Javelinas. You need to place a small table in the center of your yard, leave three shot glasses brimming with vodka and an envelope of no less than $35.00 every Wednesday (unmarked bills only). Cabbage is optional.
For them in most cases " Offense is the best Defense"
Charge and ask questions later 💀

They are aggressive towards dogs because they see them as coyotes. Coyotes are their #1 predator.
Mine was just harassed at our gate by Javalinas, just now, our neighbor feeds them, this is the sick society we live in. I've lived here 24 years, and the Wildlife dept. will do nothing. Even called Phoenix once, they said to put out ammonia! They do nothing for the homeowners anymore!! We cannot even go for a walk without Bear Spray by our side !! I would move out of AZ if we could!
They were there b4 u were. U adapt.

I call BS. Az game and fish takes feeding wildlife very seriously. The neighbors would be looking at a fine if they were caught feeding any wildlife.
@@tikka300wsm5 ua-cam.com/video/b6BlQnIb1Ow/v-deo.html They're feeding the Javelinas, and they think it's cute. It's Foolish.
Cece Gardiner not in urban environment if those animals adapt with humans might as well put them in their place and kill them or throw them back in the wildlife because they will no longer fear humans and prey on house pets just like what urban coyotes are doing
Ms AnnaD, is your fence steel or Aluminum? We are moving in 3 weeks and need to put up a fence. Not sure if an aluminum will be strong enough? Hope for a reply
It is square stock steel, but any weight would be fine, the javalinas didn't push on it.
Also, my big pup grew into a normal sized rottie and never knew she could jump the 32" fence (even though she jumped on our 4' deck) so she never jumped over it to get the javalinas.
If those dogs only knew how lucky they are that fence is between them, nasty little fellas will tear em to pieces.
Build a higher fence. Your large dog could easily jump it. I'd even go so far as to place outer high voltage electrified wiring around the property. Damned things need to be shot on site.
That’s why they make shotguns.
I guess I missed the part where they "charged" at your dogs.
One of the javelinas was more aggressive than the other -- you can see it bristling. The other javelina appeared more uncertain of what was going on, and more curious. The small dog then instigated things into a confrontation by making aggressive motions and sounds toward the already aggressive javelina, which responded with aggression in return.
I think if it had been just the large dog alone, at least one of the javelinas would have figured out this was an invitation to play. Not that this makes any real difference, as it would never be safe for them to meet without the fence.
Basically, the javelina made a short charge at the small dog after the small dog charged it first. lol.
Dogs are in play mode. Unfortunately, Javalina don’t play.
Javalinas are known to kill dogs. Remember they hunt so are use to killing, a domesticated dog may assume it is playtime and then regret the decision. Javalinas have razor sharp husk and run in packs, so there are probably a few more near by. You fence should be bigger.
Good.
At points the Black dog is scared. The larger one was playful. The boar briefly were playful but one tried to bite the terrier.
They look like boar but they are not the same
The rottweiler is never at any point scared. It play bows to the javelina, and misinterprets the pig's alert stillness as a return invitation. It then begins 'playing' with the javelina by bounding around, and mock-charging and acting goofy the way dogs do. It believed the javelina was playing, too.
End those things!
I live in az as well north of Phoenix and have had javelina come to my backyard and try to provoke/ harm my little pugs. One came around and tried attacking me little did he know I had my Stanley crow bar and busted his head open like a coconut. His buddy's never came back after that.
Keep your pugs indoors if u r not with them. That's the smart thing to do.
how agressive are these animals? i have always wanted to hunt them just want to know a bit more about them.
They will charge and they have killed in-town Scottsdale joggers numerous times, they can be very dangerous. If you try and approach them. They will typically scurry away eventually, but if provoked and threatened (which can also be "trying to approach them") they've been known to defend themselves with their long, sharp tusks.
They can be extremely aggressive...they can, and have, killed people. I personally wouldn't go looking for them on purpose, but if you do that, make dang sure you take a rifle that hits really damn hard.
Anywhere near Prescott valley?
im from mississippi. we get these things here like hogs. try a 10 gauge. itll be cheap and the ammo is quail shot so it wont be hard to hit
Those dogs are great. Is that a Rottweiler and a Boston Terrier?
They clearly wants to eat the dogs
A few pumps from a 12 gauge would do the trick. Javelinas are no joke.
They just looked interested to me..I didn't see any agression...the dogs looks kinda excited, so did the javies.
I bet they all would have enjoyed a pack of hot dogs...lolol!
Both the small dog and one of the javelinas were expressing aggression and would absolutely have damaged each other if they hadn't been behind a fence. The larger dog was simply playing, and the other javelina that approached the fence appeared unsure about what was going on -- could have gone either way with that one. Either way, the fence kept both safe.

I would call that curious not aggressive.
I would get one of those guns that only make noise just to scare em off they hate loud noises

I'm into nature. I like the feeling of being in a place where I'm not the top of the food chain, but I would not like to live there. I would not tolerate those fucking things for a second. I'd blow it away. Look at my dog like that, you're done.
