Girl this is amazing!! I'm 4'10 and this is going to be a life saver for sure!!!
Awesome! I am so glad this helps you Julianna!
Girl me too!
Omg i feel youuuuu
i love your profile picture!! haikyuu is my favorite anime
Me too :(
You are the only person I found that tucks the hem up into the original hem like I wanted to do! Everyone else does the lazy way where then you can't cuff the pant leg up because there is an alteration mark showing. So thanks 😊
Oh really? Yeah I have done it before without concealing the raw edges but I was always so self conscious about it potentially flipping up ahaha. I think most tailors conceal it this way too, it wasn't my idea :)
Bruh what this so smartttt I didn’t even thought abt this method IM SHOOK
🙌🏽💓🌸
before seeing this i only cut and fringed 😂
I needed to hem my teenage daughter’s jeans, and I wanted to keep the original hem.
This tutorial is fantastic. I followed the instructions exactly and the alteration turned out perfectly. I’m so glad I tried it, even though it was a little more involved than the way I typically hem pants.
Love the fold, no cut method... that'll be great for my kids jeans so I can let down as they grow
Oh wonderful! I'm so glad its helpful for you!
Short people realising long jeans are trendy now 👁👄👁
ahah yaaa
Uhm well mine are litterly a whole foot way too long 👁👄👁
@@jimenavaldivia2140 Same haha
I can't even find mom jeans for my height
@@patriciabitanga5524 i don’t know if this is a little late but h&m ankle jeans fit me pretty well and i’m 5’0
You do it so neatly and professionally! I love how you are so thorough. Totally subbed! I don't think my sewing level is quite at your level but I'll keep trying!
thank you! it just takes patience and practice you will get better!!
Wonderful video. Just enough information without being too wordy!! Easy to follow your instructions. Concise and to the point. I hate when people go on and on about things not pertaining to the subject. You did it great !!! Thanks Lydia. And my hubby with the stubby legs thanks you also !!!
This is ingenious! I’ve been tailoring for the past 3 years and never run across this method before. I will definitely have to try it out. Keep the videos, especially alteration ones coming!
I am so glad it was helpful Natalie, the first method is a common technique that is rarely taught, I will not lay claim to its geniusness! The second method is something I noticed on a thrifted pair of pants I had purchased and decided to try. Annd the hammer technique was a tip I picked up from The Sewing Education Channel and my mom.
Hey dude you're a genius, thank you so much. I tried doing something similar before and it looked pitiful; your results are awesome 🥰 Definitely making myself busy doing this during quarantine 🙏
So glad I could help! And thank you Vaia!
Enjoyed watching 1st technique. Both nice. Also bought a leather thumbnail with a thin piece of metal insert to make pushing through thick fabrics a breeze. Really was intended for quilting.
Subscribed to a great expert! Thanks a million stitches!
I think the cutting method looks the best, but the no-cut method was SO SMART because you can change your length back as the trends change! 👌🏻
Thank you!!
Tried method #1 on a pair of jeans today and they look perfect! Thank you so much!
Girll! You saved my quarantined soul. They turned out AMAZING!!!
Thats soo awesome! So glad I could help!!
Thank you so much for this! I have a son with really short legs and it’s so hard to find jeans to fit him. I’ve tried other methods to hem them, but yours is the first that I was able to make them look professionally sewn. Thank you!!
yaay that is so wonderful to hear!
Funny how baggy jeans are in trend now, back then ppl made fun of me for wearing loose jeans🙄
Well, trends come and go, live your own personality and don’t be pushed around by the Lemmings of society!! 😉💕
Baggy jeans are back? I see nothing but tight jeans for the last several years. I'm kind of sick of it.
@@butchvito do you live under a rock? Baggy jeans were back since 2019, in the younger generations at least
@@diorv - Sorry I didn't get that memo in 2019 that people will stop wearing skinny jeans and go back to baggy shit. Plus I don't hang out with too many teenagers so I'm not hip on the current trends, nor do I want to be. Even still today, I don't see anyone wearing baggy clothes.
Same here, my friends in highschool (actually not good friends) always made fun of me and said awful things because i was the only one that didn't like tight jeans
There are many tutorials out there for this, but yours is really the best one!💪🏼
Thanks so much Franzi! Means alot 🤗🌻
GREAT tutorial! I was dreading hemming my jeans because I was terrified of messing them up. But your tutorial is straightforward and easy to follow. Thank you!!
Oh thats great to hear!!
Thanks for this video! I have used this method myself for years, but I have been doing it differently and this way is so much more simple. Thanks!
I am sooo happy to help!
Ohhh, I never thought to open the hem and hide the rest in there!
Yaa it changed ma liiife!
Yeah me either. I have used both of these techniques but I never hid the raw edges. Now I know!! Thank you
I just shortened a friend's pants like that and you can't tell it has been altered! Thank you soooooo much!!!
Wow watched so many videos and your 1st method by far is the best!
thanks so much! its an age old tailoring trick of which I am not the author! I am so glad I could help!
I used the first method for all hems. Thank you for such a concise video ❤
LOVE your video and your wonderful explanation. I wish I took a before photo of the jeans I hemmed thanks to you. Thank you soo much for posting your tutorial.
THIS IS BRILLIANT!!!!!!! You are SO clever. I absolutely LOVE these methods. I'm not short-short, but my legs are, so I have to hem and mend Every. Single. Pair. Of. Pants. GRRR!!! I've always hated how I lost the original hem of jeans!!! No longer. Thank you so much.
I am SO pleased you find it helpful!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! you are a lifesaver... I really didn't want to cut my jeans I just bought that are too long, so I'm definitely going to use the second method you showed♥️
Yaay I am so glad I could help in the nick of time!!
@@LydiaNaomi YES you definitely did, I looked up so many videos but this one by far is the best one I've seen. thank you sm! Immediately subbed:)
Omg! Method 1 - This is exactly the way I’ve been searching for as I think this is how my tailor does it! Thank you! Now I just hope I can do this on my own! 🙌👍
Glad it was helpful!
This is the first video of yours I’ve watched. You’re everything I needed and more! Thank you so much! 🤩🥰
You are so welcome!
OMGGGGG I should’ve done this before I cut my jeans, I’m so upset rn I literally just cut my jeans yesterday and god was like here’s a video on how to make ur life easier 😭
Oh no! Next time!!!
@chrollo, can't you just sew the original hem back on like lydia did in her first method?
You’re literally so freaking smart wtf. THESE LOOK SO GOOD
Thank you!!
Thank you so much for your video - I have 2 pair of jeans I need to hem and this helps me a great deal! You are awesome !!!
I am so glad to help :)
Just hemmed my first pair of jeans using the first method!! I’ve been too scared to try for the longest time but this video really simplified the process, it was super easy and I do plan on continuing to use this method. Thank you for putting out this video it was super helpful!
That is wonderful! Thanks for commenting!
This is so clever. I learnt a lot of new techniques. Thanks!
You are most welcome 🌸😊
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I got a couple pairs of flared jeans that are just way too long, now I can save them from the bottom of my wardrobe😂
Yeah! Awesome!!!
My poor momma is 5’0” and she always has me hem her pants. This video helped me so I could keep the original hemline on all her jeans, she’s so happy now so thank you💕💕💕
soo happy I could help!
So sweet of you to hem your momma's pants!🤗
@@melissaklein501 she used to get them tailored so I decided to learn how to do it so she wouldn’t have to spend unnecessary money on it😅 thank you💕💕

Needed an example to follow for my jeans, great job. Such a soothing voice as well.
Oh wonderful! So happy it was helpful!
What a coincidence! I just bought a new pair of jeans and your video was on my recommendations 😁Thanks for the video!
What perfect timing! Thanks for watching 😊👏🏽💓
For the life of me. I can’t wrap my head around what just happened. Like magic. Super cool 😎
This is so awesome! Ive always wondered how to keep that original hem look. Thank you!
I am so glad I could help! Its a great technique that goes back way before me :)
Idk why UA-cam recommended this I am 5'9 but I'm still watching.
Im glaad you’re here 😊 not all of us are as vertically gifted 🤣 😭🤣 but you can use this method for shorts!!
This really helps me to make new ideas. Love it.
Awesome I am so glad!
Wow I would never have guessed you could do this, after years of shortening Jeans.Thank you.
I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Best tips ever for jeans hem! Thank you so much.💜
You're so welcome!
Excellent, clear tutorial! I will be doing this method.
Uffff. I'm a simple guy. First leg took me almost a day, broke 2 needles, lots of swearing and result is .... disaster. Second leg was straightforward, easy and great result! 🎉 It's not so easy and requires skill but I think I can mange from now on😄 Thanks for great video.
Great job 👏 Sometimes that's how it goes, exasperating right? Skill is gained by practice it's as simple as that! You're on the right path!
Love it! So seamless
Thank you! Cheers!
Good job! I am a seamstress but never wear jeans. Many of these tutorials here on yt are just bad. Yours, esp method 1, is very good!
Huge compliment, Thank you Laura!
This is so brilliant! Thank you!

thank you for your support!
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing!❤
Wow that looks so easy. TFS
Mm Long yaay glad you think so!
Excellent tutorial. I’m short & must always cut off excess length on my pants but jeans are the hardest to get the look of an original hem. And I’ve just bought a pair that are sitting in my alterations pike that need doing. I found this just in time, thanks.
So happy I could help!
High waters
I like method 2, easier & less work/ tools needed etc.
Neat. I thought, you would just leave the seam visible on the inside, but this is really clever!
i did that once in the past and never wanted to wear my jeans (bell bottoms) because I was so afraid they would flip up and show! When I discovered this method I was overjoyed!!
Thanku so much.. you’re such a genius. Really good idea to do hemming with original bottom
Such a nice person you are 😊🥰
Thank you so much 😊
Good and creative, thankyou Lydia.
I have so many jeans in my closet ready to be hemmed after watching your video I'm ready to try and get them fixed so I can wear them. Thank you
You got this!
honestly this is genius idk how i've never thought of this!
thank you so much! It is an age old tailors trick :)
This is so inspiring, I have a pair I'd love to do this to 😃. Love your videos - thank you!
Thank you Rachel!!
Also my machine didn’t work over the bulky side seams - next time I’ll try your method of hammering it down to soften it. I had already watched other videos and got going then continued searching and found yours! Will subscribe so I don’t miss them in future! I love your clear presentation! Thank you
the best tutorial, I loved it ♥ ️
Thanks so much 🥰
NOW I learn how to do this properly!! Thanks for the video!

Have fun!!! :)
It was a video that made me think that how to repair and wear a very common kind of costume could determine the person's impression.
Thank you for the useful video.
Glad it was helpful!
i went thrifting recently and got these jeans that fit me perfectly on the waist but are super long (im 5’1) this is a life saver :)
I am sooo happy to hear that!! Rock them jeans!

You are welcome! and thank you!
omg i thought the hammer thing was a joke until a hammer popped up on the screen
LOL i get that haha!
it’s actually so essential!
@@MZ95 so is irrelevance.
Wow you make it look so easy 😮😮😮
Thank you 💓 it truly isn’t that difficult!
Interesting video.
Growing up we were very poor and we were 7 siblings so a lot of hand-me-downs especially pants so a lot of times the pant legs were above the ankles and we would all laugh and tease each other with the phrase "Where's the flood"?
Amazing how in a little over 60 years
what was a sign of poverty is now fashionable. I guess people have taken grunge and slimming to a new level.
Of course even today I smile and laugh and ask "Where's the flood"
Aww that’s a fun memory! Yeah, funny how fashion goes!
So true! I would hear people mock and say you have high-water pants on!
great job!
Thank you ☺️
Very clever! Thanks
You are most welcome!
Great video!!

Interesting, I’ve never seen the original seam line removed and resewn with the seam allowance incorporated. Great job!
Thank you! I learned from my mom and seeing thrifted garments that were altered. There’s also more on UA-cam about this! One particular that I have linked in my description ☺️ thanks for watching 🙏
Awesome!!!
Thank you! glad you like it!
Thanks to this i managed to shorten my jeans seamlessly even without the machine!!!
