i know it's a bit late to comment, however i recently seen videos about herbicide, Grazon, that last up to a year without breaking down. Meaning if you are deciding to compost animal manure that they grassed on said location, or growing crops there, you will have a bad growing season.
Ever used Grazon or Pasture Pro? Not sure what brand herbicide you used? We need to swap pastures for our goats and cows - horses are on the other half and they all eat different things...with 9 horses we will have to get them locked up in the barn...we tried to have everyone together...some of the horses are renegades...they chase the goats and cow and calves...so our 27 acres is divided in halves...will do when temps are not sooo hot...
I’m new to your channel and have been enjoying your videos. My wife and I are exploring possibly moving from Ohio back to my hometown in central Oklahoma, eventually getting goats. The property is 6 acres.1.5 - 2 are maintained, with the rest being overgrown pasture thick with sandburs. Do you have, or do you deal with other goat farms who have, sandburs, and how do the goats do in that setting? Thanks.
Thanks for watching the channel. I don’t have any & not sure how others deal with it. I have got some alfalfa hay with it in there & my goats didn’t have a problem with it. Goats will love the wooded area. I would think the goats could eat out the plant that produces the sand burrow Thanks for watching
What herbicide do you use? Is it 24-D? I have some weeds too that are very competitive with the grass. BTW, please wear a wide brim hat. For 40 years I didn't and now I am paying the price with skin cancers.
With enough pasture for that many goats, how much do you supplement other feed? Do they just live off of the pastures until winter? I’m wanting to start raising kikos for meat marketing. Appreciate the video.
Thanks for watching We do supplement some feed before breeding & while raising kids but we use hay for nutrients during the winter & graze pastures in the summer.
6 Count Family we have 23 acres I run 30 head on it. I’m currently building my herd now. My uncles has 45 acres down the road from me & he has around 70 hd we run our operations together Thanks for watching

I have heard of grazon I know it really good. I used a broadleaf killer but that ragweed is tough.
Thanks for watching

Jim Buford I did use 24-DB. I know my wife gets on to me for not wearing sun screen. Hate to hear you are paying for it now.
Thanks for watching

If you spray it before the grass grows that won’t happened it would kill it out and then just have grass growing
Cody Ryan true. Need to get a better start on it next time.
About how many acres do you have? You mentioned 21 day rotation, how many goats do you have?
