In this video, we discuss the role of Importer Security Filing (ISF) in preventing the illegal tobacco trade. Smuggled tobacco poses risks to governments, economies, and public health, making it crucial to have measures in place to prevent such activities. ISF, also known as 10+2, is a mandatory filing requirement implemented by the US Customs and Border Protection for all sea and air cargo shipments entering the United States. It requires importers or their agents to submit detailed information about the goods being imported at least 24 hours prior to vessel departure. By providing advance information, ISF enhances the security of the global supply chain and enables customs authorities to identify and intercept suspicious shipments. Compliance with ISF requirements is essential to ensure the smooth flow of legitimate trade and to avoid penalties and delays.
