Even if someone does call corporate, they get an automated system that routes them to a bot that tells them to leave their story at the beep and after the caller hangs up, that's the last they will ever hear about it. The thing is, they get enough of them sent in that all they do is listen for key phrases or situation that may be problematic for corporate or hurt their bottom dollar, which means it gets sent to a lawyer or a paralegal to assess. I follow procedure, so I know I'm good, and after over 30 years of working, I've never been called in the office. Some people just try to scare you into doing what they want. I'm not the one.

But if it's a steep discount from what I know it should be, I'm getting someone to run back and check to confirm it, lol. I also can't stand when customers dig through the discount bins and discard a similar item from somewhere else, clearly of higher quality, and throw it into the bin, making someone think that's its correct price. Now I have to fight with them that the item they're wanting is clearly not cut from the same cheap cloth as those bargain items and as such, it's not part of the bargain prices (ugh, and then there's those who still think that they should get it for the lower price because it should've been removed. That's dumb. If all it took to get cheap things is to put it in a new location, everyone would be doing that 🙄). Whenever someone says the price is wrong, it’s actually (insert lower price), I’ll ask “can you show me where it says that price ”. Then they’ll take me to where the item is, and 95% of the time, it’ll be the price that rang up and not the price they said. They’ll realize they read the sign wrong. Then they get super embarrassed. Hilarious every time. The customer is NOT always right.

We don't give discounts online or over the phone, so if you aren't a senior have your own cup, or have a bicycle helmet with you, you won't get the discount. But people just be on one lately. But if it's a steep discount from what I know it should be, I'm getting someone to run back and check to confirm it, lol.
I also can't stand when customers dig through the discount bins and discard a similar item from somewhere else, clearly of higher quality, and throw it into the bin, making someone think that's its correct price. Now I have to fight with them that the item they're wanting is clearly not cut from the same cheap cloth as those bargain items and as such, it's not part of the bargain prices (ugh, and then there's those who still think that they should get it for the lower price because it should've been removed. That's dumb. If all it took to get cheap things is to put it in a new location, everyone would be doing that 🙄).
This wouldn't happen if people just put things back or at least didn't mingle them with the bargain items 🤦🏾♀️
Whenever someone says the price is wrong, it’s actually (insert lower price), I’ll ask “can you show me where it says that price ”. Then they’ll take me to where the item is, and 95% of the time, it’ll be the price that rang up and not the price they said. They’ll realize they read the sign wrong. Then they get super embarrassed. Hilarious every time. The customer is NOT always right.

I used to love it when someone made a baseless threat to call corporate as if the customers inability to balance a checkbook is the cashiers fault.
My favorite thing was when I was in management and the customer would threaten legal action. I’d explain very clearly that if they were serious about their intent to call a lawyer, company policy would stipulate that the conversation was over , and now our lawyers would be awaiting contact from their attorney.

Had a young woman get upset because although I honored the senior discount that her mother would have had if she came in, I couldn't guarantee anyone else would. She went on to get upset and say a lot of seniors aren't getting out and I had to explain to her how our discounts are for the people purchasing at the counter who come in. We don't give discounts online or over the phone, so if you aren't a senior have your own cup, or have a bicycle helmet with you, you won't get the discount.
But people just be on one lately.
Had to tell someone else our policy on not eating inside and she thought she was exempt because the seating outside was full.
