I flew on 2 very rare aircraft in the Caribbean. Join me flying the World’s last-built Fokker 70 and the World’s smallest 3-engine airplane; Britten-Norman Trislander.
The Fokker 70 flight is operated by Jet Air Caribbean from St Maarten to Curacao. Join me in visiting the flight deck of the Fokker 70 and the pilot spoke about the plane's performance. The 27-year-old classic plane has some unique engine sound. We departed Princess Juliana St Maarten Int’l with a quick takeoff and climb. During the flight, I explored the roomy cabin and spoke with the friendly crew. Join the cockpit for landing in Curacao.
My next flight is onboard Anguilla Air Services Britten-Norman Trislander. This is the world’s smallest three-engine plane with less than a dozen currently airworthy. My flight was operated by a single pilot; Kyle. The flying time from St Maarten to Anguilla was just 10 minutes with scenic views of both Islands. We did a touch-n-go and flew back to St Maarten with a nice approach over Maho Beach.
Hi Sam… Captain Kyle of Anguilla Air Services is my younger brother. It has always been his dream to be in the skies so you can say he’s actually living his dream. Kyle can say he has had the privilege to have both perspectives of aviation- that is- being a pilot and also being in air traffic control. Kyle since he was a child has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Upon obtaining a job in air traffic, his admiration for aviation grew and he would go flying in his free time with his now-boss. He later made the decision to further his training and went to flying school. Kyle is a very skilled pilot and everyone that flies with him can attest to his professionalism and the smooth rides. My cousin Josiah who also left a comment on this video is also very interested in flying and watches a lot of these videos and can recite a lot of information about planes. I’m very proud of my brother and I’m happy that he’s living his dream. He is very knowledgeable and it can be evidenced by this very video. Thank you for showcasing my brother and his love for the skies.
Your brother is a good airman :)
Wow, the Trislander is so narrow inside! Sam and the pilot were literally shoulder-to-shoulder!
yes very lol
Hey Sam, Mike here. Nice to see you made it to St Maarten in the Caribbean. My uncle helped design that airport. I hope you had a good time there. I always have a great time when I’m in St Maarten. 🏝️
Wow, that's amazing!
Wow, so cool!
What a terrible design. I guess that’s why he was working on a Caribbean island
@@DudleyDawson9 If you look at it of a satellite view you will see that it looks like an airplane wing.
@Emiratesnon_official To each his own. Everyone can’t all like the same things in life. There will be differences of opinion.
The only Fokker I ever flew on was the Fokker 27 of the US Army Golden Knights back in the 80's. Always fun to get strapped in and sit next to the open door, and watch the team jump out! 🤠👍
Alliance airlines in Australia still operates a few Fokker 70/100, mostly used for FIFO flights. A small number of the planes operate on behalf of Virgin Australia. Qantas Link also has a few Fokker 100. I flew Alliance Fokker70 from Brisbane to Port Macquarie 4 years ago.
I used to enjoy it when they would keep the brakes applied and apply full thrust, then get catapulted, good old Focker
Yes I recently flew the alliance pink livery BCA recently in remote south Australia.
"Let's have some fun, let's go low" 😂 Such a troublemaker Sam
Really enjoyed these St. Marteen/Caribbean vids. Amazing scenery. Hope you have more for us.
That was a smooth landing in the Fokker!
I was gonna say that too! Took a bit to get down but it was butterrrrr
Love the Fokker 70. Was on Malev and KLM Fokker 70 many times! 💪🏼👍🏼
Nice!!
@@SamChui you come to ILA in Berlin Germany this Year between 01. and 06.th of June?
I recently flew on PJ-JAB from suriname to curacao and back. It's my favorite plane!
I went to Sxm last year and I saw the Fokker everyday
Seeing that Menzies aircraft gave me nostalgic memories
Thanks for the video, Sam. The Captain selected "idle reverse" when he opened the buckets. He did not require the engines to spool up though that option was available to him if he wanted to have the aircraft slow down faster.
Used to fly regularly on the Trislanders to the Chanel Islands. Great to see one still about! Those lycoming engines are very noisy!
Thanks for this Sam. I used to fly on the Fokker 28 on the old Canadian Airlines. It would go from Calgary to Saskatoon and on to Winnipeg. Cheers from Canada.
Sam met the Fokkers. 😂😂😂😂
Sam, You get to have all the fun, I am always happy to see you getting excited and sharing your experiences with us👍🙂
Awesome views of the island. Just spectacular!
Wow! Sam, it must be an amazing experience flying on those aircrafts. Thank You for sharing 👍🏻
Great video Sam! Loved the variety and how you discussed the aircraft and St Marten too! Interesting and fun! Thanks so much for letting us travel with you Sam!
Great video. Brought back many memories. Use to fly from St. Thomas to St. Martin many times. Caribbean Airports are great to fly in and out of.
The Trislander is just a thing of beauty !
Fantastic post! A Folker 70 and Trilander…..amazing! Thanks Sam!
Fokker 70 & Britten Norman Trislander is Awesome 😎👍
Great video Sam! So glad you could get more cockpit footage in this one.
Hi Sam, I flew this typical Fokker 70 back in 2014/2015 with the previous operator in Indonesia (TransNusa). I’m so glad to see this aircraft is still flying! Brings me back some memories! Loved the aircraft very much.
Haha i love it, Sam cant get enough of the jet exhaust - thats gold 😊
Awesome Video, My Favourite Place, Really wish to go there. Thanks For The Virtual Experience😊
Night Sam, its nice to see your smile, and we had a great time flying togheter with you with these marcelous scenes.
Pretty interesting and educating the remarks regarding the idle reversers on Fokker F70/F100. I noticed the same when flying in AA an AV F100 years ago. After deep research the captain on Jet Air gave the right answer. It is only used on emergency situations. Even more interesting, F70 and F100 came from the F28 family which engines were not provided with thrust reversers system. The tail cone splits acting as a speed brake effectively (F70 and F100 have same feature too.)
yoo the pilot for Anguilla air services is my cousin kyle. I just stumbled on this vid. Ive told him many times to go fly bigger planes i never knew he flew a rare plane Edit : i did not know you put my cousins name in the description till the video was done
Kyle is a great aviator who loves flying!
@@SamChui i know he is, I want to become a pilot just like him i sent the vid to my mom cuz she is in Anguilla she saw him last night and will be seeing him later so i told her to show him the video she also told me he is flying right now.
Thanks Sam, this is awesome and cool video, sitting behind the captain! I enjoyed the view! 🙂
Nice!!!! Hoping you will be on the Inaugural Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Monday. I’ve been excited for it.

Great seat position Sam.
Super interesting video! Thanks Sam!
Awesome video. I would like to ride on these ancient planes. These pilots looked very efficeint and confortable to fly with.
Nice to see my former colleagues at JetAir… great guys.
Thanks Sam for the video.
As always, really unique and entertaining video
Awesome video Sam!!
Sam Chui , alliance airlines in Australia have the biggest fleet of F70/100’s in the world.
Thanks letting me know!
I flew as a Flight Attendant onboard the Fokker-27 … love it.
Used to love flying the Mother Fokker with US Airways back in the day. Flew the F 100 a bunch of times, but was never on the F 70.
Great to see my other 'home' Curaçao 🇨🇼

Fokker aircraft remain beautiful aircraft
I always enjoy your videos. You should visit Guyana, you will get the chance to experience alot of bush flying.
Awesome content as always.
Hey sam. Recently we use to have a fokker 50 operating between bonaire and curacao but now our biggest is the yetair from your video. But the most used is the saab fro EZair. Also we fly with little prop planes between the islands.. its a lot of fun especial the 6 seater from DIVIDIVIair (and the roomers are tru. We fix things with ducktape or not at al)
I flew on the F28 when I was a kid, so it's really nice to see that video. I'm fairly sure I flew on the F100 too, but I just can't remember when.
Awesome Plane
It sure is!
Spent a day on the beach at SXM in January 2019, my camera's shutter need a good rest after that day, awesome place!
Awesome job sam with airplane vlog I been at Martin before it s great island
Hope you enjoyed it!
I did
Loved the view of the engine and the engine sounds... like a baby 717 😂
That airplane from Anguila remembered me like the car Homer designed 😂
Great vlog and speaking my native language🙌🏽🇨🇼🛫
Fokker 70's and 100's fly in australia too currently.
Hi Sam, I love your every vlogs 💖.
Maybe ,The Foker 70 aircraft is used from Pelita air in Indonesia.
Really enjoyed this video. I have never been to St. Maarten. But I did work on rebuilding plans after the hurricanes. Its a really sad story that the money that IS available for fixing that airport terminal and other facilities is not being used due to island politics. As for the Trislander it triggered me because it was the plane type whose pilot and passengers witnessed two massive UFO's over the UK Channel islands. (ref. James Fox documentary and Leslie Kean's bestseller book on UFO's). You should consider making an episode on UFO/UAP with commercial pilot Christaan van Heijst.
For your information sir, that Fokker 70 (PJ-JAB) is first delievered to Vietnam Airlines in 1997, then went to TransNusa in 2015 and finally delievered to JetAir Caribbean in Dec 2019, the engines were made by Rolls-Royce model RR Tay 620-15
This is awesome
Great video Sam!
I love your videos sam
Thank you for sharing this video 😂❤❤❤
My pleasure 😊
Very nice ! 🌟
Love Jetair 🇨🇼

Very interesting ; suggest to have HDR version of some videos.
Nice
I wish we had such relaxed flying experiences in India
So lovely 😍 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you loved Curaçao🇨🇼
SAM you should see what's coming in to Barbados these days Up to 20 years ago, you'd see MD83s, Dash 8s, YS11s, TriStar 500s, IL62s
I got to fly on the predecessor, the Fokker-28, in Sweden. Too bad the line was discontinued by Fokker.
You and a Canadian UA-camr Alex Praglowski definitely could have been in St. Maarteen at the same time. Nice video!
0:17 it smells so good ( jet fuel ) 😂😂
Hey Sam 👋 love the channel 😁 Next time your in Sydney get in touch with the guys from SYDSQUAD for some great planespotting 👍🏻
Alliance Airlines in Australia is the largest fleet of Fokker 70/100 QantasLink (Network Aviation) is slowly phasing them out for the A319. I believe Virgin Australia Regional Airlines has 4 left of their Fokker 100s that’s getting replaced by the 737-700s from KLM. All of them do mining charters around Australia mostly in Western Australia the mining state. The airline Air Niugini in Papua New Guinea operates a couple of F70/100 for their domestic service and to Cairns, Queensland.
There are few 70s here in Papua New Guinea and Australia. Hope one day you fly in to PNG 🇵🇬 SO SOME FANS LIKE ME CAN MEET YOU IN PERSON 😊😊😊
Hi Sam
How did you get entry in Cockpit so easily😊.
Could you please advise.
i once flew f70 3 years ago
My first trip by jet was on this plane.
My roots ❤️
