Cheers to you & the family! ✨🎁💋 Ours has PKD DNA which takes our kidneys and then we end up with mostly incurable brain cancers as the polycists mask early cancer detection
If you’ve taken any time to observe any hummingbird they are small but fierce. They aggressively defend they’re perceived territory including and especially around feeders or favorite flowers. The Anna’s and smaller Rufus are the only species that live in PNW. That said we have a pond and feeders out even in winter. A pair will enforce my yard against any and all other humners chasing them out aggressively. They get to know the humans in their territory. Last 2 winters I had a pair over wintering in my yard when we got hit with a arctic blast flash freezing the feeder overnight. I awoke and saw it had to bring it in and thaw it out to save them. The male Anna’s watched me as I climbed the ladder bringing back liquid nectar. He now follows me wherever I go in my yard, calling that characteristic call and there he is watching me. 😉😉
They are fantastic !!! I used to have many when i live in caribbean, feeding them with liquid sugar and by planting hundreds of heliconia all around … !! They miss me so much 🤷♀️ i envy you …
Wow. If you watch the whole documentary, you'll hear words like sex and promiscuous, among others I don't want to have to explain to my 4-year-old. The script was designed to go along with the current world narrative, and make you wonder, and ask exactly what you asked. I miss the days when nature shows were TRULY family-friendly, for ALL AGES, without pushing some sick agenda to our children. Ugh.
So, it stands to reason that these females will be better fed and therefore better able to reproduce and pass on their genes... eventually ending up with all females colored similarly to males, perhaps?
Beautiful footage as always! Though- no biological logic in your explanation: First: there is lot of aggression also between male hummingbirds. Second: we humans may not identify between males and females with similar colors, but they surely do, as do many other bird species where males and females have similar coloration. Just as we would identify between a man and a woman even if they dress the same clothes…
Fascinating
That’s so fascinating! Would there be a problem because other males don’t recognize her as a mating partner?
Only 1 in 5 retain "male" coloration. Its doubtful that affects reproduction numbers. + it's how this species evolved/is & its still around.
Starve and mate or not starve and no harrasment
One should stop calling dinosaurs by another name : those are small but fierce

Thanks Nature. 👍
Are the females being harassed for mating, or because they're less aggressive/ likely to fight back?
J’adore 💖💎🩵
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Wow, so rare for males to fight females when they normally fight FOR females to breed with!
Nobody is calling out the Birds for having different colours for genders?!
Sex, not gender. Animals don’t have gender identity
Then will that green coloured female gets partners for mate? Doesn't the real male feels gay when it's around them?

Sounds like it. Sad, really. Same behavior, different species. When will females catch a friggin break?
Love hummers
I’ll second that.
Why do the males CONSTANTLY harass the females...what is the point of keeping a potential mate of being able to eat...or even enjoy life...?
🙂👍🏻
🤣
I. Want them

Are you sure about that? Hellywood has put out some pretty convincing specimens....
