Just purchased the Hornady Alpha Elite lock box . Choose the Alpha Elite simply because of the 4+ stars vs. 4 star of $4 less price on Amazon. The cable lock system is a coated steel cable with cable attachment that fits notch in lock box. Nice set up. Peace of mind for wife with lock box verses just carrying conceal piece open or in unsecured glove box. Thank You Hornady!
Just received one of these today. I like the fact that it's 16 gauge steel VS 18-22 gauge steel and the three prong locking mechanism. I was able to get the supplied securing cable to loop through the washer for tethering it so the box can't be removed from my trunk while in the vehicle but Hornady needs to improve that and after enough online complaints they probably will. That cable you forgot to send back looks thicker. Any issues closing the box up using it? Nice review guy.
If you want a stronger cable get a bicycle cable. Then you may need a Dremel Tool to make the cable hole larger to fit. Also the foam padding in the box can be put in the vault for more padding. tjl

I've been using this same box for a year.
Works great.
I'm getting one soon. But I'll be using the cable and bolting it down. Cutters on a pair of vice grips will go through the cable no problem.

Got mine for 15.95 Canadian. Back to about 40 Canadian now..... great box. Try to get it on sale
be careful where the cable inters the box it can mar the finish on your gun its happened to me past that i like it, it works like it should

Good deterrent for smash n grab thieves. Underneath the car seat a god place . Does it ship to International destinations ?
