So glad that I found you 8 years after you posted this video! I had one of those pesky UPC stickers stuck on the inside backrest of my new acrylic tub. I opted to try the peanut butter method overnight and voila I was able to remove it in the morning as described by you! Thank you, thank you, thank you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm quite thankful for ur video. U saved me several $, and a 50 mile round trip to Walmart. Had a glue-laden paper sticker on my new motorcycle windshield. My glue was apparently different from urs. WD-40 immediately dissolved it. Wiped it with a napkin. No acrylic damage, and no trace left !
Very clearly stated which is an unusual joy. Visually excellent in showing the results. Very practical in suggesting readily available products. Congratulations.
Thank you so much for posting this, and the commenters for the further suggestions! I've been trying off and on for a week to get old labels off of plastic network devices, even scraping it off with a window scraper. My colleagues recommended most of the things you tried, but you did the legwork for me. I'm going to hit them WD40 or coconut oil tonight!
I really appreciate you posting this video. Although I have not tried it yet, your personal results have convinced me to give it a try. Thanks again for being the "test pilot".
I just used the peanut butter to take off residue from sticky dots that were on my dies. Glad that saw this video because the peanut butter worked great and I have a bunch of the acrylic containers just like you. Thanks for your advice!
Didn't have any WD40 but used canola oil and it worked perfectly! Thx so much for your video. I had an odd shaped acrylic cookie jar so I damped a small folded paper towel, just slightly bigger than the price sticker, so as not to have it drip all over and left it on overnight. Sticker came off very easily.
Really helpful for me today, cleaning horrid sticker marks off my daughters electric guitar, she had covered it with very sticky stickers years ago. The WD40 worked really well, thank you for taking the time and trouble to share your research on UA-cam :)
WD 40 is the ticket..... and really saved me a lot of stress removing a label from a plastic CGC holder containing a very valuable comic book....thanks for the great experimental advice.....
Canola oil worked perfectly on a new acrylic container for cereal, and a great solution for something that will contain food. Thanks so very much for your research.
thanks, man. that was a thorough study; you've saved me a ton of time. i'm salvaging a 5' x 3' sheet, 1/4" thick... which was used at a head shop to sell stickers to hippies.
Amazing!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!! I had a stubborn sticky label residue on a delicate Alabaster trinket. I tried the peanut butter on it, and after just a couple of minutes it wiped off nice and clean!!
I recently repurposed clear acrylic containers and needed to remove the old labels. I used 99% isopropyl alcohol on a clean rag. Worked great, no scratching or scrubing. Just make sure its 99% pure and not the 50% from the dollar store.
10 years later still good advice, I tried using the olive oil method and it worked pretty good but there's still a little bit of residue left over. I've got some WD-40 I'll try tomorrow
Thank you for this post... you made my life so much easier!!! I used a regular spray can of WD40... sprayed once, waited an hour.... sprayed a second time and after another hour everything peeled sooooo nice and easy!
Thank you for sharing this! Very informative and helpful.I have all these household and food items,so I don't have to go out and buy yet, another product.I hate having to junk up my storage shelves with products I will only use only once. Thank you!
Thanks for the comments. I just peeled off a sticky label from a clear plastic lid to fishing tackle box. I tried rubbing alcohol and it took some of it off. I didn't have Canola oil so I used 100% pure Sesame oil and it cleaned the clear plastic completely. Just buffed it off and it looks like nothing was sticking to it!
While not the same issue as yours, just thought I'd mention that Olive Oil works great at removing built up soap scum on plastic or clear acrylic tub suction cup accessories such as soap and shampoo or razor and toothbrush holders. The oil and subsequent cleaning with dish detergent takes the clear acrylic from looking like frosted glass to clear.
I used WD-40 today to pull off a sticker and it worked great the sticker had been there for over a year and you could not get it off but WD-40 did the job thank you MJ!
I'm trying to remove label adhesive from a notebook display, so a dry method would be better. It's great to see the results you got with these simple products.
I'd suggest rubbing alcohol. It may take a bit more work but it's safer on electronics. Although you shouldn't use it on plastics as it takes the oil out.
WD-40 slayed it on a sticker slapped on an acrylic shower and on a new stove that had a sticker on the stainless steel vent (stupid). We had been fighting with both. Sprayed on a paper towel to prevent it getting on the shower floor or down the stove vent. Thank you!
I used tombow glue to stick on rubber stamps I converted from block stamps, but when I adhere them (just by putting onto an acrylic block) to an acrylic block, it's left a mess on the block. I'll try some of your solutions. Thank You!!!
Thank you very much for posting this DoSumphin! I was trying to remove the sticker residue from the UPC bar code sticker on my daughter's new water bottle with just hot water and scrubbing to no avail. I used your suggestion of canola oil and the sticker residue came off right away
incidentally, thank you for the video and scientific approach. Your video was followed by a testimonial about a young girl with Leukemia treated at St. Jude Children's in Memphis. OMG....tears....i'm still chocked up.
Goo-gone good for these labels too! I got a black stainless steel dishwasher and Samsung put this tough label on. Tried olive, and vegetable oil, label off but residue is still on. I may try WD40, but worried about ruining the finish. I can always leave a magnet on, but so mad they put a label on!
Thank you. I was able to remove packing tape residue from an acrylic kitchen canister with WD40. Tried one other pure oil and it appeared ineffective. The canister smells like a car exhaust now. Not impressed with acrylic as a material. It scratches in normal use and is chemically non-resistant to common liquids, so we need to resort to this. (The product was branded as acrylic, but could be a different plastic with resin code 7.)
I tried paint thinner on a glass frame I had and it worked perfect it had residue from the sticky label and it worked perfect just wiped it and gone ❤️
If faster results are required, soften the adhesive with a heat gun so the label can be removed because it masks the adhesive from the "solvent" ....then apply the glue remover of choice.... I like a baking soda cooking oil mix to quickly remove the adhesive.
how and what do you recommend for removing scotch tape residue from windows......they are vertical, so some of your tips wouldn't work well, I would think?? ------ ahhhh, I just took down my mini holiday lights from my front window, and with all the residue from the scotch tape, I tried peanut buter, left it on only for a few minutes, and used DAWN POWERWASH FOAM SPRAY [doesn't drip] to easily clean the PB, the residue and the whole window!! Works great.
WD40 out and pics back on the wall after a few years as they had masking tape cross stains on them...why on Perspex and not glass I’ll never know!!!! and BOOM all clean! 🥳 thanks so much!
How have you removed the layer created by the solution? I can see it stickened on the surface. I have an acrylic where I need it to be 100% smooth and transparent but have a similar problem of removing the layer. I would appreciate if you can share your experience.
If Peanut Butter does that then what the hell does it do to the lining in the Stomach? The use of White Spurits is very quick for removing labels and adhesive resudue and I would guess Acetone does too?
Thanks for the info, I just tried using WD40 about 30 minutes ago and it worked brilliantly. I wish we had UA-cam when I was growing up, would have made projects around the house a lot easier.
try gasoline. Peel off the sticker first and then to remove the residue, pour gasoline on a piece of cloth. It will remove it easily without damaging the plastic..I find this very effective
Even WD40 wont take off old DRIED adhesive off of the acrylic aquarium. Its decades old black electric tape. WD 40 worked on the least thickest parts..but where it was thicker..no go. Any suggestions?
Autozone. They sell a gallon metal can of WD40 and these empty spray bottles to put it in. I like it much better than the aerosol cans. It is easier to control the stream.
***** Im trying to remove two plastics from being stuck together. this is no grip on the pieces, so i can't even begin to pry at all. if i put wd40 on the edges, will it seep in eventual and unstick them. any suggestions?
+Danielle Holmes That sounds fine. Spray some in the gap and leave it overnight or something. Then in the morning rinse with water, wait for it to dry or try and dry it yourself and spay again. Keep doing it till done.
I'm challenged by the brown paper adhesive on Acrylic 1/8th inch thick. Now this is how the product comes from the factory. Will the WD-40 or canola oil work ?
Does WD-40 work with superglue as well? I'm trying to find something that can help remove super glue from my plastic miniatures (the part that has been glued in is a little deep inside) without damaging the plastic
What do you recommend for removing krazy glue/superglue from transparent plastic without leaving that white film? Or removing the white film that does occur when the glue comes into the clear plastic when there’s a bit of moisture? I heard Vaseline/petroleum jelly. What do you think?
I came here to see what's best for glue removal from plexiglass ( glue gun glue) and did the wd40 and worked niceeeeeee and then took the pieces to the bath tub and used Dawn dish detergent and came out newwwwwwwwwwww T.Y. :)
Oops contains small amounts of Methylene Chloride (Paint Stripper) which melts most plastics. 100% mineral spirits is also good for getting old self-adhesives off.
I still have the glue stuck on a plastic lid after removing a sticker. How do I get rid of the remnant glue? I've tried WD-40 and nail polish remover to no avail, What about silicon spray?
I have a guestion. Would you know how to clean all the olive oil out of a bottle. I would like to use the big olive oil bottle that's empty to store my flour in it but I can't seem to get all of the oil to wash out. Thank you for your help. Oh I've tried so and I've tried bleach.

I should have added that I have used the application of peanut butter on a variety of unwanted labels with astounding success.

I really appreciate you posting this video. Although I have not tried it yet, your personal results have convinced me to give it a try. Thanks again for being the "test pilot".
Thank you for demonstrating the right method to remove sticky substance from plastic.
I just used the peanut butter to take off residue from sticky dots that were on my dies. Glad that saw this video because the peanut butter worked great and I have a bunch of the acrylic containers just like you. Thanks for your advice!

Was just about to pour goo b gone on my plexiglass window to remove old gorilla tape...so glad I clicked on your video!!!
Amazing!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!! I had a stubborn sticky label residue on a delicate Alabaster trinket. I tried the peanut butter on it, and after just a couple of minutes it wiped off nice and clean!!
Great. Thank you for your time and effort on this experiment. It saved me a lot of time and trouble.

Thank you so much! I used the peanut butter method on a similar acrylic organizer and it worked great.
Good video. You tried a lot of products from around the house. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
Finally after a gazillion videos, you hit it. Whew, Thank-You 🙏
Thank you! I have a few toolboxs that have about 20 years of stickers on them and this video helped.
2:30 - "and smell good too." LOL 👍🤣

Thank you for this informative video! Will go with WD40 for my 280g arylic aquarium!
Super helpful!
Thanks bro!I used baby oil instead for peanut butter for my sticky watch :X It look shiny now :D Thanks ALOT!!
Thank you for for this info! I just found a discarded rotating display with a lot of old stickers , so this is a lifesaver
Thanks so much! I was out of WD 40 and peanut butter, but peanut oil worked great!
Heating the surface worked for me pretty clean.
i USED PENETRATING OIL, THE SAME AS WD40 AND IT WORKED PERFECTLY. THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
I used WD40 on an acrylic ruler and it worked great without damaging anything.
You channel name is cute. Thanks for sharing results of your tests.
Olive oil works immediately! Just soak a cloth/paper towel and voila! WD-40 can smell up the room etc for awhile...
You're a lifesaver. This worked immediately.

Thanks for your great demo, have WD40 indoors will use this 👍

How can l separate two plastics, held stocked together by aradite?
Thanks for your work on this. Big help !
What about a place on acrylic that you need to clean off unwanted super glue drop ?
I tried paint thinner on a glass frame I had and it worked perfect it had residue from the sticky label and it worked perfect just wiped it and gone ❤️

3M Adhesive Remover. Comes in a spray can. You can buy it at AutoZone.
LOL, WD40, the McGyver of solvents!
Thanks for the info, I just tried using WD40 about 30 minutes ago and it worked brilliantly. I wish we had UA-cam when I was growing up, would have made projects around the house a lot easier.
This was soooo helpful. I used the WD-40. Worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the video. WD40 worked like a charm.
try gasoline. Peel off the sticker first and then to remove the residue, pour gasoline on a piece of cloth. It will remove it easily without damaging the plastic..I find this very effective
Is Wd-40 safe for an empty fish tank? My fish tank came with a poster "glued" to the inside and the glue is visible.
Use Glitz bbq cleaner/degreaser. Spray, leave for 15 - 30 seconds and wipe of with a cloth.
Even WD40 wont take off old DRIED adhesive off of the acrylic aquarium. Its decades old black electric tape. WD 40 worked on the least thickest parts..but where it was thicker..no go.

they sell it in pretty much everywhere

john..after 4 years I doubt you see this but did you ever get an answer to your question?
What worked best for me was using a heat gun from the underside. Just apply heat slowly, and be careful not to melt anything.
WD 40 worked great! Thanks!
Great video very informative
I came here to see what's best for glue removal from plexiglass ( glue gun glue) and did the wd40 and worked niceeeeeee and then took the pieces to the bath tub and used Dawn dish detergent and came out newwwwwwwwwwww T.Y. :)
Won't it depend on the type of adhesive that has been used?
Oops contains small amounts of Methylene Chloride (Paint Stripper) which melts most plastics. 100% mineral spirits is also good for getting old self-adhesives off.
Thank you much. But how about two glass pieces that were glued together with epoxy. DO you think that the wd40 will work?
if theres globs of krazy glue in one spot will any of these work
Thanks dude good experimenting
I still have the glue stuck on a plastic lid after removing a sticker. How do I get rid of the remnant glue? I've tried WD-40 and nail polish remover to no avail, What about silicon spray?
But does WD40 leave a residue that can't come off? I've heard you can't paint metal no matter how hard you try to clean it off.
Where did you find the opps
use blow dryer right on to the sticker.. melt the glue and u can remove it easily
Works good on go pro mounts
Umm. Looks like label came off with WD40 but residue remained. The area should look clear, but to me it is very cloudy or gunky-looking!
Your video helped me a lot. Tfs
Just apply 4-5 drops petrol on the label it come off very easily
Did you try lighter fluid? I hear that works within 30 seconds for label removal.
Do you think this will work to dissolve some super glue spots off of a clear plastic?
does this product work on plastic to plastic? I accidentally glued plastic to the wrong place and I need to remove them.
I have a guestion. Would you know how to clean all the olive oil out of a bottle. I would like to use the big olive oil bottle that's empty to store my flour in it but I can't seem to get all of the oil to wash out. Thank you for your help. Oh I've tried so and I've tried bleach.
Try a degreaser like Dawn.
Thanks
You can also used Liquid Wrench because that's what i used.
Awesome, thank you !
Surprisingly kiwi branded waterproof shoe spray works try not to smell the fumes though and your good
Hey, I have an aclyic quilting ruler I need to remove the sticky resude
where the lable had been will WD 40 damage the numbers on the ruler?
Thank You....also 8 years later :O)
Thanks bro. its working !
is it bad/weird that i dont have any of these in my house? not even the peanut butter
WD 40 IS the ticket came right off thank you very much i have ruined a few things not knowing this thanks!!!!
How to separate to glass which are attached with araldate.
